Massive scene busts today

Damn, darker times are coming. At approximately 10 AM, local police in a wide spread coordinated effort raided over 300 homes and offices associated with top warez providers. The raids took place in Germany, Austria, Holland, Poland and the Czech Republic. According to GVU (translated to German Federation Against Copyright Theft), over 30 individuals were arrested in the raids. The website of GVU is now under hard DDoS attack. The raids also yielded over 20 servers, which provided FTP (File Transfer Protocol) access to individuals belonging to the release groups. GVU claims the warez groups were responsible for the proliferation “of illegal copies of films, computer games, music and user software.” The enforcement raids were the culmination of the GVU’s investigative efforts, with legal follow-through provided by the prosecutor’s offices in Duesseldorf and Frankfurt.

Rumors of the bust began circulating online today, as members attempted to warn each other. According to warning notices online, the following top providers have, for all intents and purposes, been eliminated; RELOADED, KNIGHTS, TFCiSO, Cinemaniacs, German-Friend, ParadieseBeach and Klapsmuehle. Information about RELOADED was later marked as not verified and this group hasn’t been affected that hard. In addition, the leader of RELOADED was reported as arrested during the raids. The GVU confirmed the following release groups were eliminated, most of them german: Unreality, DRAGON, Laboratory, Heaven, code talk, GTR, ECP, TRCD, AOS, MRM, SITH, GWL, Cine VCD, AHE, Cinemaniacs. So the conclusion is up to you, may be its time to hide for someone. There’s no doubt that new crews and groups will be replaced after some time, but now its probably better to take more care about yourself…

We got also some interesting reading for you (NFOs):

UPDATE: our website is under massive flood of new visitors (500 unique in last 20 minutes) which is causing occasional inaccessibility of Releaselog, be patient…

UPDATE #2: due to comment of one visitor, german offices of GVU were raided just few hours after this bust. Prosecutor assume that they paid at least for one of the servers hardware and the admin. So it looks like IOH (island of hope, main server) was more or less a GUV honeypot, attracting the spread members of the release groups around one server and get them more easy…

UPDATE #3: GVU’s website is now running fine again after DDoS attack so they released some pictures from this raid, check it out.

damm i had a feeling something like this was going to happen very soon.

Aslong as deviance, reloaded, and mirror remain in the scene and spread there knowledge (and tools) then the scene shall remain strong.

Groups are soon replaced, yes indeed, but the knowledge and sort after tools are for ever lost, this is the worst part.
hoodlum was a big enough blow, reloaded/deviance/mirror would see the death to great releases.

People hate clones, but imo if you look at the angle of which mirror are takeing and there morals, emulation may be the way of the future.

Reloaded are still gods, but without them leaves a major hole in cracking.

However i feel reloaded will NEVER get busted, until they choose there retirement and should have by then trained another top quality ‘new’ promising group which will hopefully pop up soon.
It would appear with all the major hits in the last 2 years (being that it involves 10+ groups all the time) that they are merely takeing out the top end bistros and fastrate file distribution servers and ftps, those that have access to these and other groups cop severe consequences.

GOOD groups like reloaded hopefully arn’t involved in such shambles.

Movies, Porn, MP3 groups can easily be replaced, game piracy is a majorball game.

    thats my 50cents.

    Just like films suppliers…

  50. January 26th, 2006 | 15:09

    @YourFather STFU
the scene publish itself, yeah they rant about torrents sites, fxp boards, dcc hubs, even irc and nfos dump sites. but have you ever asked why those sites are full with scene releases? couse the scene leaks itself yeah is full o leakers couse is so easy to get in you just need a 100mb+ box and you are in. nowdays a -sceneban means nothing, today im banned tomorrow im in.

  51. January 26th, 2006 | 15:12

To be honest 300 people raided is fuck all. 30 people arrested is even less. The pictures that have been released on the GVU website show rooms with 30 cd copiers on them, and MASSIVE stacks of cds. This is not scene, this is people making money off the scene’s hard work! Anyone with that kind of equipment has absolutly no reason for it, and those kinds of people can FUCK RIGHT OFF!

Anyone that is sat at home, unaffected by this, but still worrying, then you are playing into the GVU’s hands! You were the real target! Its more important to instill fear in the rest of the scene than these few petty arrests!

Also one little side-bitch to those dissin the ‘kiddies’… these people only want the same as you, access to the data, just because they aren’t lucky enough to have raw knowledge and hookups to the fat downloads doesnt mean they suck. If they piss you off just ignore them!

  56. January 27th, 2006 | 11:50

I find it rather puzzeling when i hear people post here calling fxp people ‘kiddies’ by saying that they cleary know nothing about fxp or what it is.

Fxp teams have a far greater technical knowledge than the majority of release groups as they are the ones hacking SQL and getting those releases out there. They are the ones researching in to new vulnerabilites in operating systems, so THEY THE FXP dudes are the ones keeping the scene alive.

Game ISO rls groups i respect but thats it most other release groups just fire up DVD shrink and hit go not exactly leet are they?

  57. January 27th, 2006 | 13:35

imho cracking a starforce protected release is much harder than hacking some stro, and if you would know more about release groups, you couldnt say anything like this… and dvd shrink… nobody uses this, to make a good dvdrip isnt so easy as you think, there are pretty tough rules and so on…

  58. dome
    January 27th, 2006 | 17:11

haa, hacking ur sql,iis or ssh boxes
    …….same exploits, few techniques…..
    ez shit
    cracking aint ;>
and its not only cracking, theres much more
think twice before u post dumbass
