I saw ZZ on this tour and it was the only time I ever went to a concert sober (not stoned and drunk) and the only time I fell sound asleep out of boredom. Still don't know how I experienced REM sleep with the enormous drum concussion bouncing off the coliseum walls. :)

I love their blusier 70's material. Fandango, ZZ's First Album and Rio Grande Mud are excellent! Eliminator was the beginning of the end for me. Everyone was physically assaulted by that album on the radio and MTV in the 80's. There was no escape from it. I think that's why all of those songs irk the s**t out of me. I just don't have the stomach to hear it again.

lmao @ comments on here. First, why not listen to ZZ Top? 80's, 90's... so what, music is timeless to people who actually like music for the "music". If you're reading this and think "wtf?" go back to your miley cyrus or whoever is "in fashion" this month, then ditch the CD when your friends like someone different next month, or listen to music, whenever it came out because good music is still good the next month, year, decade, whenever. Woohoo, I got my weekly rant at the idiots in early this week... lol

Then why bother opening your mouth in some sort of corrective statement to begin with, especially when wrong.

You try and be a little snot by correcting someone and get pissy when you are found to be wrong. Some people's kiddies these days! Grow up little boy.

Holy crap some people are down right full of themselves.

Perhaps I should have bored the masses with all the tripe you typed and then some.

I'm so sorry that I have ruined your day by making a statement like the one above. Perhaps I should have said something about a DRUM MACHINE.

Shove your so called 20 years of knowledge in your buttocks. Hows that?

@24 and 28 - I am left wondering how you correctly answered the spam question to post here.

Having worked for major labels and managed bands in the US and UK for over 20 years now, I think I have a pretty good understanding of the industry, certainly far better than your own guesses/lessons. (I have also worked directly with ZZTop in the early 90's. Gee, how do I know about their personal investments?)

The side of the industry I work in is exactly the side you are trying to explain to me, don't bother, you are incorrect with your broad brushes.

First off: In the case of ZZTop, the label has very little say anymore, this isn't a boy band manufactured in the 90's, in which case you would be almost correct.

Secondly: Bands don't release best of's in order to test the waters, that is done by back catalogue demographics and early release singles; including the songs, mysteriously/purposely 'leaked' on the Internet in low quality(by the management or someone in the studio).

And to that same guy, who thinks that digital drums means the recording is not analogue, well you just need to either sit down and study what you are trying to explain or give up. Such a reply indicates that you have ZERO knowledge of music or the recording industry at all.

Back in the olden days, people played a disk with bumps and grooves on it (much bigger than a CD) that was made from vinyl! Who'd a thunk it!

It was an analogue/mechanical format, as opposed to digital which is a series of bits encoded on a digital media for decoding by a digital disk player. One is a physical bump, one is digital data, get the diffference now?

In order to record this "analogue format", songs were created in many different ways, then passed through an ANALOGUE desk where it was mastered.

That master was also ANALOGUE, and thus were all subsequent copies. By your definition, Black Sabbath was recording in digital in the 70's because they used a synth, LOL!

Get with the prpogram and talk about what you actually know, not what you'd like to know about.

'Remasters' and 'Best-of's are a way of feeling out sales for the release of new material. They also provide a cheaper way for people to buy 'older' works of an artist who just released a new CD instead of having to shell out $30+ for an old cd.

As for the Analogue recording of Eliminator, it's ironic that this was the first album for ZZtop to use a digital drum machine. ZZtop was my favorite band in highschool, I wore out 2 cassette tapes in my walkman due to so much play time. Yes ... I said cassette tape because back then CD's were either not present or mainstream.
