Zune 2.0: first leaked details!

An unspecified Microsoft employee blow out the whole internet community by releasing first information about new Microsoft Zune 2.0. I’m pretty sure Microsoft won’t be too happy about this, but all the media buzz which started about this leak can only help them.

It’s also little strange to see Zune 2.0 just few months after the initial launch of MS Zune – may be they were on a friendly visit in Electronic Arts, a company which mastered releasing almost the same stuff with minimum of changes again and again (yeah, The Sims). I haven’t seen a single person who would own Zune yet, but this is again most likely caused by different approach of Microsoft to European market.

  • Zune 2.0 and the Flash Zune will be out this year.
  • Zune 2.0 is like Gen 1 but thinner.
  • Larger HDD, same doubleshot finish.
  • Flash Zune is 3 by 1 1/4 by 1/4.
  • Flash Zune is video capable
  • Flash Zune’s Screen covers 75% of the front
  • Flash Zune will have WiFi
  • Flash Zune will have doubleshot
  • Design phase is over, but some tweaks to hardware will occur.
  • 2.4 million next gen Zunes will be made before 2007’s holiday season, and that 2/3 of em are the Flash Zune players.

I dunno, their current track record for fully functional products isn’t great. I wouldn’t drop money on that thing for another generation or so.

Interesting to see how microsoft does with this.

    “Flash Zune is 3 by 1 1/4 by 1/4.”

I’m thinking that’s in inches. Now how hard is it to iclude units aswell? And how about using ‘x’ instead of ‘by’. Eg.
    3 x 1.25 x .25 inches.

I (WE) like the Ipods because they have the best accessories. I have found other player which I liked but I could not find accessories for them, if they do have some they are hafassed. I was thinking about the zune player and I might get one, It has the same accessories as the ipod, and if they make one that is 60 more gigs I will buy it, I was thinking about buying the 80gig ipod but will but the zune this time..

i don’t really understand why some people think that picking up a Zune is a good idea. iPod has established itself as the best consumer mp3 player (and backup HDD) time and time again. the fact that there is any doubt in anyone’s mind about what they should buy just boggles mine. basically, surrender to the iPod. it’s sleek, it’s cool, it’s got different versions, even the older models (post colour screen) don’t make you feel out-of-date. just because they don’t have a few features (wi-fi…. yet) doesn’t make buying an iPod a “deal breaker.”

the fact that microsoft put such a half-effort into making a product, just because they NEEDED to capitalize on marketshare, makes my stomach turn. they should stick to xbox 360, it’s about the only thing nowadays that i’m in love with that microsoft fully supports (but didn’t really in the beginning) that is actually worth the money.

    that’s my two cents.

I’m very satisfied with my Zune. Video quality, sound quality, ease of use, everything about it is perfect. Absolutely no complaints from me.
