Use sandboxie. It is the best tool to reverse all malware changes made to your browser like its never happened.

What is the truth about this being made by an Israeli company? Because I heard it must be loaded with information-gathering (or 'intelligence' software) devices!

I used to rely on ZoneAlarm, until I heard the above from various (reliable) sources.

    Best Regards

I stopped using ZA a couple of years ago. Might give this a try, though… I generally dislike software that claims to "Block unauthorized downloads and malicious software installations" because in the end they end up doing just that very thing.

    Bottom Line

Where a firewall protects your computer and operating system, ZoneAlarm ForceField protects your browser and browsing experience. It blocks bad sites, warns of dangerous downloads, and keeps keyloggers from stealing keystrokes and screens. Now in public beta, it's intended to work alongside your existing security protection.
    Pros

Virtualizes browser-initiated file system and Registry changes. Manages downloads and scans for malware. Identifies phishing sites and other bad sites. Blocks keylogging and screen logging.
    Cons

No protection outside the browser. Many valid downloads reported as "unknown."

WARNING … This software works badly on your computer. 1 Running a four core fast computer and it completely freeze when you activate ZoneAlarm ForceField. 2 This cracked software doesnt work either when the READ ME installation file is empty if it matter. The Zone Alarm Company tells you that you are trying to install a cracked serial number and then the software works even slower than before. If you cant clean out rest files to forget that you installed this silly program DONT INSTALL IT.Simple nollage of what you visit and download on Internet is GOOD enough.

@6, what makes you think that your own government isn't spying on you? XD

Could be made by some israeli company, however im sure that you can say that about everything you use.
That phone you brought from the electronic store could have Chinese bugs in it to listen to your conversations.

That meat you ate yesterday, could have had drugs to make you eat more meat.

If you worry about where your stuff comes from, then you should just go live in a cave.

    @6,
it is true, it is israeli company, or well, checkpoint is israeli, and they bought zone alarm. But well, checkpoint is "the best" ENTERPRISE firewall money can buy today.

  17. IE Only?
    April 26th, 2009 | 13:22

Funny, I installed it on my computer, no freezing, hangups or any other problems to my knowledge. Babylon is spellchecking as I type this. IE's toolbars and gadgets seem ok. Seems to only work with IE though. Thats why I'm gonna uninstall it. I like chrome better.

    Continued: @ 26
Never mind, I just fired up firefox (like I should've done before posting the last comment) and it works with it as well, again no hang ups or anything. I thing it wants me to disable the splash screen for firefox… NO!

@ 21. I think your rig has the swine flu mate.

Sandboxie is all you need. I load it by default to use with IE for all family members PCs…less headache down the road for them and for me.

  20. Bugs
    April 26th, 2009 | 14:26

zonealarm is a very powerful program, but its resource requirements are unnecessarily excessive and i had to remove it from my machines because i cannot dedicate an entire quad-core and 4gb just to run it. bloatware, i guess.

Call me crazy but getting security related software illegally is like going to the mafia for baby sitting services.
And who cares if gov't is collecting your information, what's so important about any of us that our porn surfing habits must be shielded from the world.

  24. Dumb Question
    April 26th, 2009 | 20:07

Shouldn't FireFox be doing all of this already? And if it can't or doesn't, shouldn't it want to? I mean, if anyone's making money these days, it's FireFox. If I was them, I'd make it a priority to always be one step ahead of anything. Just my two cents.

I agree sandboxie WORKS GREAT and plus has extras. There isnt much slow down or anything, zone alarm tends to add a little slow down. But then again, firefox alone works GREAT!.

    lol anon funny, good point.
