ZitZot: Sony Ericsson goes green with new C901

Sony Ericsson Thursday introduced two new environmentally friendly handset phones, the C901 GreenHeart and Naite, which Sony Ericsson said will be sold in smaller packaging, come with all-digital user manuals, use recycled materials and consume less energy overall with lower-power chargers.

Sony Ericsson GreenHeart C901 and Naite

According to Sony Ericsson, the C901 GreenHeart’s phone casing is made from at least 50 percent recycled plastics and its color comes from a water-based paint. A light sensor changes the brightness of the C901 GreenHeart’s display, Sony Ericsson said, to adjust to its surroundings and consume less energy. The C901 GreenHeart includes a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, Xenon flash and smile-shutter, and also has a 2.2-inch, 240 x 320 display, A2DP Bluetooth, a Memory Stick Micro M2 card slot and Google Maps installed.

generally I like SE phones, and it's a good step towards environmental friendliness. but these two models look very much like the T610, especially the one on the right

Why fix what isn't broken? SE phones have generally been easier to use and better to look at than their Nokia counterparts for a long time (my current phone's a Nokia, so no fanboyism here either).

At least they don't do Nokia's trick of taking the exact same insides and putting them into 10 different 'quirkily' designed shells……….

At least it's worthy of being called a phone.

They make a good quality phone and the Cybershot camera uses a Carl Zeiss lens, EXCELLENT picture quality.

If you need a smartphone, buy a real smartphone from HTC etc.

Quality phones have their place and quality 'smart phones' (where software is third party downloadable and not only after the manufacturer's approval to be sold in their own store) are irreplaceable business devices, connect to networks, share and create documents, collaborate on projects, synch to databases, QWERTY keyboard, graffitti and cursive writing recognition etc.

As for i-Phone? None of the above: garbage camera, bad quality phone, completely useless for business (unless you just play games at work).

Figure it out based on your needs, buy a phone like this or get a smartphone, but don't waste your money on useless i-junk for kiddies.
