ZitZot: brand new Tech news site

We just launched a new website! ZitZot is a portal bringing you the latest Tech news in similar manner you are used to from Releaselog. The category Tech news here at Releaselog has always been just a small extra to our main content, but it gained quite some popularity over the time. So we realized there might be need for more Tech news from our readers and that’s where the idea for ZitZot was born.

As the intro post at ZitZot says, you shouldn’t expect tons of boring news, but rather a few hand picked and really interesting posts a day. We plan to reprint some content from ZitZot from time to time here at Releaselog and there are many more plans for the site itself, but you should already check it now and bookmark it. And don’t forget, we’ve been always relying on you, our readers, so if you have something interesting to say or post, just contact ZitZot team!

You know what a zit is, right?

  2. April 27th, 2009 | 11:20

i do. guess it will nicely characterize the average geeky visitor :)

  3. April 27th, 2009 | 11:24

nice one Martin! Looks very interesting. I don't know how much interesting stuff i've read about from your tech posts. Bookmarked :)

Are you trying to take on giants like "Engadget" and "Tech Radar" or are you trying a different approach to Tech?
Also, will everything be US based or will you be covering everything globally?

    Peace

    Love ya Rlslog

  5. April 27th, 2009 | 11:49

#4: it won't certainly be only US based although most of the news somehow connects to the States for obvious reasons. the concept of engadget and similar sites is slightly different, they are more like personal blogs looking for sensations. zitzot will be less geeky, keeping the style of what you are used to from RLSLOG's tech news.

Site not working. Could it be slow DNS propagation ? I'm from Romania. That's in Europe … Eastern Europe … what the heck, I'm from Transilvania … and no .. I haven't seen any damn vampires.

Yep. DNS records show no knowledge of zitzot.com. Probably during the day it will show up. Anyway, keep up the good work. Thank you.

Nice idea but no way could I honestly read a page full of half stories! Rlslog has nice clear, full posts on all its pages unless the article is waaay too long.
And a few pics wouldnt go amiss either ;-)

I agree with what faker said. At the moment it just looks like 100's of other blogs that just have tech news. You say you are trying to be different to Engadget/Tech Radar yet you cover pretty much the same things they do. At the moment I do not see any real difference.

Very nice work.. I greatly appreciate the efforts you guys have put on bringing the site up :) Mmmm… it will be nice if you guys change the layout of the site… It is a bit hard to locate and read the contents. And … yeah a bit of graphics per post will do good too… For example in RLSLOG when I see a facebook image on the blog I know that it has something to say about Facebook and so on… It will be much easier in that way :)

Is this approach to safeguard rlslog.net for the future with all these new attacks from the copyright world?

One thing I really like is the last 5 posts from here are over on the right side so if something you're waiting for comes out while you are checking the news you wont miss it, nice touch.

looks pretty damn good so far!

ide just recommend what everyone else is pretty much saying, by expanding the full post rather then only a few sentences on the main page, and incorporating the picture as well.

i mean, just look at the model of RLSLOG, the posts here are perfect and only shortened when necessary.

the layout COULD use an overhaul, but is deff not "needed". and the news topics are JUST what i was looking for in a news site. however, posts like the one regarding rapidshare here in RLSLOG about giving away user info should also be included on zitzot !!! its important stuff and the kind of news that i really care about. i think it would hit the "target" audience and provide news that other similar sites dont offer.

Good luck on your new site!

    I like it.

I hope you will stay semi-picky on the stories you post. not every single change in the tech world , but as you have been doing – the more interesting stuff , the hacks and new technology, and the news regarding piracy , etc.

don't get too broad, focus on the more interesting stuff and keep it simple. I will check daily.

    IMPORTANT!

HOW TO AVOID DUPLICATION OF NEWS WHEN I SUBSCRIBE TO BOTH ZITZOT AND RLSLOG NEWS??

if you titled news on both sites exactly the same I could avoid duplication using feed.informer but you can't begin news on RLSLOG with "ZitZot: …"

    April 28th, 2009 | 10:08

Considering all of the tech news articles on rlslog are direct copy/paste of articles written by real news services, what is the point of an entire site specialising in that? Easier to just RSS the original sites…
