Zen comes out with stylish Zen Stone Plus
Creative’s ZEN Stone launched a few months ago to worldwide acclaim as a serious challenger to the Shuffle at half the price – now Creative adds an OLED and calls is the Stone Plus. The most noticeable change is the bright and colorful OLED screen, but under the hood are some other significant changes. The ZEN Stone Plus has had its memory capacity doubled to 2GB, giving users enough space to store up to 1000 tracks, depending on the codec, bitrate and audio format used. In addition, because of the screen, the Stone Plus now features an inbuilt FM radio, with frequencies seen on-screen, a clock, a stopwatch, a voice recorder and on-screen equalizer settings.

The original ZEN Stone retailed for Singapore S$69, or the equivalent of US $45. The ZEN Stone Plus will retail for only S$30 more at S$99, or the equivalent of US $65. As with the original Stone, the Plus will come in a range of colors with the same smooth stone like design. The colors are in high gloss and are black, white and pink which are available now, while the colors of red, blue and green are due to be coming ‘soon’. Not really an iPod killer but still a pretty cool and cheap gadget, isn’t it?

Looks Sweet! What does it do?
Looks very nice. Has a radio too, so it’s quite nice.
Hope the surface of Zen doens’t get scratched for a while
Won’t get that one.
I am afraid of losing/leaving it on the pebble beach
Seems pretty useless to me, my phone has 2 gb, and i can use my own headphones, it has radio too… It’s cheaper to buy a sd card.
Seems like an iPod Shuffle killer to me. I have been putting off buying a portable mp3 player, but I think I’ll take the plunge and get the Stone Plus.
Does it have a clip, though? :p
So, when for the Zen Vision:M 2?
Yloony: many people prefer simple phones, I value battery life and enjoy charging my old Nokia 6310i only once in two weeks, helps a lot in remote areas.
Ars Technica recently reviewed old Zen Stone as a competition to iPod Shuffle with conclusion that it’s the iPod (Shuffle
) killer – half the price, better features. Now with a screen, FM radio, voice recorder it’s even better. I’m in a market for a new MP3 player because I got tired of iPod Shuffle (1st gen) I’ve got as a present and new Stone looks really good, too bad it doesn’t have OGG playback but only iRiver, iAudio and Samsung really support this format.
Try the iRiver s10. I bought one for my girlfriend and it`s a lot better than an iPod Shuffle, not to mention incredibly small. Pretty nice screen too and the audio quality is very good (swapped the default earphones with Etymotic ones).
Maybe the only thing that is annoying is the 8 hour battery life, but I`m getting myself a Cowon D2 and that lasts for 50 hours with one charge.

as long as it’s not an iCrap.
At least it’s not an iGreg, a redundant fool who chastises Apple products because he can’t think for himself.
That’s right spoonfed… keep eatin’ that bowl of Applejacks… twat.
Anyone knows how’s the SQ of this new gadget?
Will pairing this with a head amp make any improvement in SQ?
a brainwashed $pple zealot is critizing others for “not being able to think for themselves”.
now if that isn’t the most ironic thing ever, i don’t know what is.
