A fairly unknown scene group ARTHOUSE released a copy of a Swedish movie You The Living, originally called “Du Levande”. This drama about the life and its greatness, love and joy was filmed by Swedish director Roy Andersson and premiered at Cannes film festival with a very positive feedback. This dvd screener offers a fine quality on 1 CD with hardcoded English subtitles.

Over nearly four decades, Swedish master stylist Roy Andersson has directed just four features. While cinephiles were forced to wait almost twenty-five years for his 2000 chef-d’æuvre, Songs from the Second Floor, we have been granted the visionary You, the Living after a wait of only seven. A plot synopsis is impossible, unless one could easily summarize a highly subjective and darkly witty series of fifty portraits of the human race at our present moment in history. For his own part, Andersson has described the film as a “mosaic of human destinies” on the theme of “how to behave around others.”

    well, if it’s their first release, they are bound to be “fairly unknown” – whatever you meant with that, martin ;)
    but the rip is like it should be (the dvd perhaps had hard subs anyway), and of one of the best films of the year, so i’m definitely looking forward to what else they might bring… since they promise more of this kind :D
    and somebody had to start ripping all those festival-screeners which are floating around – they are much more welcome than those academy award screeners of more and more average films which are anyway surely gonna see the light of day in any dvd-store around the world…

    I echo seethis comments. Have been looking for Dai Nipponjin which apparently went down a storm at Cannes for ages now and to no avail. This should be really good though, have only ever seen a short by Andersson and it was great. If there are rapidshare links to be had though that would be awesome!

    The only advice is to watch previously available DVDScreener with hardencoded subs
