You Are Empty-RELOADED
Here come RELOADED again and yet again they have cracked another Russian StarForce game. This time its a video game called You Are Empty, which is kind of a strange name don’t you think? Anyhow its another one of those re-write history type storylines. You get to go back to the 50’s when Communism was all the rage in Russia or should i say USSR? Anyway you get to and battle lots and lots of mutants. The reason why you do this is because communist scientists got a little over zealous with there experiments and killed the entire population and anyone who did survive is now a mutant. Sounds like fun, eh? The description doesn’t include how the game playing character survived all this though which is a little strange but I’m sure it will all unfold as you work your way through the story. The screenshots look decent enough the graphics appear to be up to par with what we would expect from current gen game, i especially like screenie of the one that looks like a pissed of Shrek, Hehe.
You can see what this game is aiming for that eerily dark atmosphere, your all alone, trying to survive. Many games have tried and failed but if this can pull it off then it will be a good release to download. It’s 1.70 GB in size which is not that big nower days so this wont stretch your bandwidth to much if you want to gamble on this. It’s currently on NTi now if you want to leech… and seed it! 
You Are Empty offers players an alternative approach to the history of the late fifties of the XX century. Scene of action is the Soviet Union. Leading Soviet scientists start a big experiment that alter human physiology and mentality in order to create super humans capable of building bright future and communism all over the world. As a result the whole city, where that experiment took place, goes on a rampage. The majority of citizens died, and those who survived turned into hideous mutants – the only inhabitants of deserted streets. You Are Empty immerses you in an exaggerated dark and obscure atmosphere of Soviet totalitarianism. Fighting against mutants, that obtained super power after the experiment was carried out, the main hero tries to gain an understanding of what’s happening around and save the day. The game takes place in a big Soviet town with beautiful Stalin architecture and colossal monuments dedicated to the communist future. starforce protection I hate that, but it seems like a good game.
on gamespot.com/previews there are some E3 2004 impressions.so the game is going to be a huge succes,like STALKER(which i doubt it),or is going to dissapoint.

Bleh. Just look at the poor character and weapon design on the screenshots. Russian games in general have a tendency to turn out to be mediocre at their best. I predict average graphics, bland level design, and non-original repetitive gameplay that will have nothing to do with fun. On the other hand, I’m not exactly Nostradamus when it comes to making predictions…

I played it and (so far) it pretty much rocks . The graphics are pretty good. Exteriors and Interiors are looking pretty much awesome.

It is one weird game. Engine is ok, graphics are ok, apart from the models. Enemy AI seems bad too. The game feels sort of like a blend of Half-life 2 and Silent Hill 4. No music BTW. Don’t break off the intro video. The game hung with 99% cpu, tried it several times.
So is this another one of those Russian crap-fests, or is the game actually playable?
My money is on the first, but you never know. The developers might have stayed of the wodka long enough to write some decent code, who knows?

It’s vodka (водка) and Russian developers just don’t seem to have enough resources or experience to develop truly professional and competitive products. On the other hand, good games are generally hard to come by these days.

from the screens it looks like STALKER v2.. does this use the Source engine? the textures look EXACTLY like HL2
Not worth downloading, installing and playing – ugly graphics, sounds and well… pretty much everything. Environments are dull, floating objects in the air, firefights are comic. Too bad, being a FPS fan I am, I was looking forward this one.

Here is gun, start moving, you cannot go wrong way because we blocked them, kill all that you encounter.
That’s it… Dull, also there is a little variation on enemies. You just basically wander on the predefined pipe and kill everything. Don’t waste your time or bandwidth…

Thats funny! I noticed everytime you guys post a game on here and give us the review websites (IGN & Gamespot)and alot of us that never heard of this game before always visit one of the review sites (I guess) and I take it that would be “Gamespot” … and what I mean is, that game would be ranked #1 … I think they count the visits on that particular game. Right now on Gamespot.com (PC section) on the bottom Today’s #1 Game is YOU ARE EMPTY and Im pretty sure is the hits/visit, because I dont think that Gamespot would rank a russian low budget game as #1 for the day when we have way much better games than that one. Plus same thing happened to the unpopular low budget game “L.A. Street Racing” it was ranked game of the day right after it was posted it on here.
RE: Coffin.Filler, I had the same problem with the game. It gets even worse after getting past the logo screen. That is, if your already having problems. I managed to get past that point by installing the wmv9VCMsetup.exe file from the ISO. THen you should see the config screen, then after watching the intro video… the game is suppose to start afterwards but never did for me. I even tried to set the game in win2K compatability mode (which is suppose to further work also) NADA for me. The video stops at the end of play and does nothing…

I have updated to v94.24 (NVIDIA DRIVERS) but have to be honest i dont hold out much hope. I managed to also get further than i explained in my original post (as HDD light was working away and i could hear HDD working also. This was achived by attempting to load the game after setting resolution to different settings. It diddnt sort it though.
I have a couple of other ideas to try and then after that ill wait until either another crack is released or an official game update.
(I have a feeling its not crack related and is game related)
Its not vista, because I (like C.F) am using XP. Its really wierd though. Nothing else Ive tried before or after acts like this.
When someone gets this game going , to make it stop freezing at the main title “Are you Empty” please lets us know.
I can’t even ctrl/alt/delete to get out. I think there may be a problem with the crack possibly. but then again what do I know .

I have pretty much the same problem also. I get past the initial video, and then the game locks up before anything else happens. I am unable to ctrl-alt-delete out of it, and the rest of my pc turns to crap. I can see my cursor, but end up having to press the power button on my case to restart my computer. Not good either way… Would like to be able to play it though…

i think i found the problem. i get following error message:
play_video:Material ‘avi_logo’ is not defines AVI-texture.
Video cannot be played.
for this time i could play, but without videos.
the game crashed also when i quit.
i think a codec is missing.
When i install the codec on the dvd i came into the menu. But when i start a new game the video stops when it ends or it stops when i skip it.

Well, if this is what it takes, then the “crk” must be the problem. If you allow it to “phone home” first, it will continue to play? If you’ve got a firewall… it might be the problem. Im not suggesting anything here.

I actually thought that I would like this game (I like most of those games my friends call crappy and vise versa
. But no. Intro was good though and Graphics are OK, but characters are like puppets and especially character animation is horrible. Lame sounds. And I hate that the pistol barrel is pointing way under the crosshair instead in the middle of it! Not my game, has an amateur feeling right from the begining.
Ps. I also had starting difficulties, crashed in title screen like some others. After rebooting worked just fine. And I didn’t have to allow the connection when it asked.

I NEVER INSTALL STARFORCE PROTECTION (for obvious reasons) but to be honest there should be no reason to have to allow SF to install as a crack has been supplied. (no one is allowing SF to install are they ? If thats what your doing then im baffled as that dont make any sence and i dont want SF prot installed on my PC).

Are so saying in effect its a windows platform problem ?I COULDNT FIND WINDOWS 98 ON THE REINSTALL so how do you set it up for win98 is it in the game menu or config settings ice could you please expand on that thanks.

I’ve played the game for about 30 minutes to an hour.
I didn’t like it :/. The atmosphere is great, the textures are stolen from HL2, but the skins are so badly made. The game IS scary – so play it of you want to see a bit of a low budget game

There are some issues with getting the game to start. First be sure to use the crack and the replacement for starforce. Both need to be there. Second once installed and you start it hangs up and has a windows error message. I just hit enter and it gets me to the main menu of the game. Once there you are good to go. So far the game looks very nice and has some interesting characters, but I would have to say it is not a top-notch shooter. It just does not have the same flow and movements as really great shooters. The AI is not smart so far and the gameplay is somewhat repetative. Still for free who can really complain. I have only played it for a couple of hours so far.
Its ok now i got the game working, i allowed access to game as a exception in windows firewall and disable nortons security.Mind you i did a computer system restore first, no need for that win98 thing i just copied crack into main folder.The hostpital scene graphics looked dated i hope outside is better.
To fix the Movie playing bug,go the map in the iso file called WMV or something and install the 2 files there(both codec packs) then it will work.
To bad I found that out, after finishing the game, its a fun game,but absolutely no replayebility at all.

This is how i managed to get game to run for me which those of you are still struggeling to get running may be intrested in.
Go through the normall process of mounting image and installing with DT.
Make sure you install ALL options (all boxes checked)
I found that by altering the install direction (i have a folder named games where i install all games) was a problem. I have had this happen once before with another game so install to defaut location which if i remember correctly is
C:/ Programfiles/1 C company/You are empty.
Once installed make sure there is no problem installing the WM9 codecs + WMV9VCMsetup. (if there is a prob simply after install process has finished browse the mounted image and go into WM9V folder and start both setups again).
DO NOT RUN GAME AT SCREEN WHICH ASKS IF YOU WANT TO LAUNCH GAME (AFTER INSTALL PROCESS FINISHES).
So now game is installed and all codecs ect are. Copy and paste cracked exe and dll over originals.
(REMEMBER YOU STILL SHOULD NOT OF ATTEMPTED TO RUN GAME YET).
Once cracked exe and dll are copy/pasted into location make sure you give the cracked exe permission to connect to
internet. (do this through your fire wall/mcafee/zonealarm/ or if you use no software like this then through windows fire
wall. (I noticed that if the exe is blocked the game will not run. I managed to get it to start screen, watch the FMV before you get to control your person but i never managed to play the game whilst exe was blocked). Once i gave permission to the exe the game ran fine (and not just the 1st time).
I also noticed that sometimes the game will run ok but sometimes i have to use the windows compatability mode and select windows 98/me. (Do this by right clicking on shortcut on desktop/selecting compatability tab/then selecting windows 98/me and apply). Then it runs ok and if not i have to do the windows compatability mode thing again and apply again and its ok.
This is the only way i have managed to play the game and be able to turn PC off + on and then play it again and continue from saved location.
Hope this helps you guys having trouble to get it running.

IMO ITS CRAP. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT IT IS THE GRAPHICS AT POINTS AS THIS ISNT CONTINUAL. THE TEXTURES AT TIMES ARE SLOPPY. THE BEST THING ABOUT IT IS AT TIMES ITS ATMOSPHERIC OTHER TIMES IT NOT.
BAD POINTS = SHITE. CRAPY AUDIO THAT IS MEANT TO BE ENVIROMENTAL BUT JUST DOSENT WORK! VOICE ACTING IS SO POOR IT’S LAUGHABLE AND COMPLEATLY SPOILS ANY FEELING THE ATMOSPHERE MANAGED TO SUPPY. SKINS ON AI ARE NO WARE NEAR WHAT WE EXPECT AND AGAIN SPOILS THE GAME (APART FROM WARE THE GUYS EYES ROLL IN HIS SOCKETS WHICH I THINK IS ANOTHER BUG BUT IT MADE ME LAUGH). AI PATH FINDING IS QUIET SIMPLY A JOKE AS IS THE AI. I CAN SEE THIS GAME COULD OF BEEN VERY GOOD AND MABEY WOULD OF BEEN HAD IT NOT BEEN LOW BUDGET. FOR A LOW BUDGET ROMP YOU CANT COMPLAIN. IF IT WERE A INDI RELEASE IT WOULD GET 10 OUT OF 10 FROM ME (AND PROBARLY EVERY OTHER REVIEWER OUT THERE) BUT FOR A GAME THAT COSTS MONEY (REGARDLESS IF IT’S LOW BUDGET) IT’S SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH AND FEELS UNFINISHED IN A BIG WAY. I AINT EVEN GOT ON TO THE BUGS BUT I THINK YOU GET THE IDEA. ONLY CONCIDER THIS IF YOUR TOTALY BORED AND HAVE PLAYED THROUGH ALL YOUR OTHER TITLES 10 TIMES, ONLY THEN IS ITS SPACE JUSTIFIED ON YOUR HDD.
I had the same problem with the freezed screen, but now it works for me.
Try the same steps llike me:
move into the folder “…\You Are EMPTY\config_user\” and start the file “startup_autorun.cmd”.
maybe it works now, but I dont know, test it…
The 2nd step was:
open the folder “…\You Are EMPTY\config_engine\” and open the file “ds2engine.cfg” with a text editor.
change the line:
fullscreen 1
to
fullscreen 0
Thats it.

I downloaded it ages ago, but never played it. And after reading the comments I’m not even going to bother.
It’s seems to be 2-0 for Russian crap-shooters (STALKER and now this). And people wonder why all those small game developers/publishers are going bankrupt. They all blame piracy, but it may have something to do with the fact that they are all releasing bugged crap! Call me crazy…

i downloaded it and i can’t play it because of a stupid RADEON 9250, so those who have the same card like me don’t even try to download it you’ll regret it …
ok the reason why the game dont start is, it wont run in fullscreen (when u have the problem with the freezed start sceen “You Are Empty”)
just do my 2nd step:

Ok, first I only had that error message and a strange menu. After that I’ve tried everything what’s written in this topic:
1: installed both codecs;
2: compatability change on shortcut;
and 3rd: changed both ds2engine.cfg files.
But, nothing! F__k this game! I’m done with it.

I installed another codec(seems the same, but it did help) from the Microsoft website:

Just overwrite it by installing this version. You don’t have to uninstall ore do something else with the codecs you’ve already installed.
I don’t know if it matters, but I’ve also changed the compatability thing on the shortcut and set both ds2engine.cfg back to fullscreen…

I got so bored that I actually played it. Install worked fine, game played without problems.
Trouble is, it is such a BAD piece of crap! First level is fun, it has a nice dark and freaky atmosphere that made me go “yummy”. Zombie nurses and medical experiment freaks, what’s not to like? However, after 2 more levels it gets so damn repetative. I never thought I get bored of shooting people, but I did.

ok for all you guys having probs getting past the loading screen i got it to work by setting the game to run in win2000 compatabilty mode(right click main exe =>properties==> compatablility set to run in win2000 compatablility mode)
then i also installed from the WMV9 folder on the disk (after the cracks were applied)
i installed the MV9Codecs and the wms9VCMsetup
before i did this i had the same prob as everyone else (it wouldnt load past the “you are empty” load screen )(i must say having “you are empty” flashed across my screen was ironic when the game wouldnt work lol, seeing as i paid nothin, guess having a concience sucks somtimes lol)
anyway i havnt had a prob since i did this stuff and the game has worked fine everytime i load
also this game is NOTHING!!! like STALKER

DO NOT RUN GAME AT SCREEN WHICH ASKS IF YOU WANT TO LAUNCH GAME (AFTER INSTALL PROCESS FINISHES).
So now game is installed and all codecs ect are. Copy and paste cracked exe and dll over originals.
(REMEMBER YOU STILL SHOULD NOT OF ATTEMPTED TO RUN GAME YET).
Once cracked exe and dll are copy/pasted into location make sure you give the cracked exe permission to connect to
internet. (do this through your fire wall/mcafee/zonealarm/ or if you use no software like this then through windows fire
wall. (I noticed that if the exe is blocked the game will not run. I managed to get it to start screen, watch the FMV before you get to control your person but i never managed to play the game whilst exe was blocked). Once i gave permission to the exe the game ran fine (and not just the 1st time).
I also noticed that sometimes the game will run ok but sometimes i have to use the windows compatability mode and select windows 98/me. (Do this by right clicking on shortcut on desktop/selecting compatability tab/then selecting windows 98/me and apply). Then it runs ok and if not i have to do the windows compatability mode thing again and apply again and its ok.
This is the only way i have managed to play the game and be able to turn PC off + on and then play it again and continue from saved location.

Despite all of the above help I havent managed to play the game. Even the original legal game won’t start.. it just freezes after the intro video. Also savegames I got from other guys wont work either, they just load till 99% and that the game freezes again.
I even e-mailed the developers twice and posted on the Russian forum, but I dont get any response. Please mind: Im talking about the original version here, same problem.

bouht a cracked copy and when i install it bitdefender detects a virus !! and whn i try to start it says Protect.dll is missing !! any suggestions ?

I have a problem with this game. I hope someone can help me. I had no problem with the “splash” screen, but when I start a new game, after the movie, or if I skip it by pushing the Esc button, it always breaks down with this message:

So, the problem was the compatibility mode. It really should be on Win98/Me.
It is good for one play.
I have already played the whole game, it was not bad at all. The mood of this game is quite good, I mean sad!
