#8 Vista was not that stable when it first came out but it is getting better - Vista X64 is far better than XP 64 as there is no drivers, or very few available for 64 bit. Some of us have no choice but to use Vista for the 64 bit, so I think you are been a bit harsh.

So why do you not just stop writing completely useless comments and getting a life.!

    #13:

I got vista 64bit. I have to have it because ive got 8Gb RAM. I just also got older PC with XP on. And its soooo much better (in stability terms). And you say Vista is getting better… By the time it gets OKAY, Windpws7 will be out.
And what do you mean, you have no choice but to use Vista… Theres not a man with a gun to your head is there?
One last thing, comments are’nt useless… If you want a perfect machine, get Windows XP Pro SP3.

    SIMPLE AS.

    @17,

it is useless to post anti vista comments in vista threads. most ppl don’t care.

and the problem may be with your machine. i have 3 different OS on 3 drives, and by far, the Hackintosh is the fastest and most responsive of the 3. surprise, vista x64 is the 2nd and xp32 is the 3rd.

also, i’m very much sure, all the ppl bashing vista are the ones who could not get used to the interface.

vista does not smell any better than any other crap out of m$ arse, but still, on a decent machine it works.

  22. LOL

If you have the option of milking XP for a few more years by all means do so…However particularly with mid to high end laptops you CANNOT just wipe and install XP. Drivers are the main issue - from just not worth the effort to downright impossible. I have also found that on all the Vista systems I’ve had to dial in that its the gobs of the retailer’s pre-installed garbage-ware and start up programs that are responsible for the vast majority of problems and resource usage. Is it so hard to disable unnecessary programs and/or just buy a little more ram?
Honestly, I do prefer XP myself but have you noticed how much Microsoft cares about your preferences? I’m just trying to help keep a few noobs from killing their systems just because a few die-hards said it was “better”.

  24. Markuz
    April 10th, 2008 | 16:32

#21: You think I drive around in a steam powered car, and live in a wooden shack? And then you tell me to grow up… You’re words make me laugh. Just because Micro$oft spent millions on vista and advertising it, stating it was better then XP and a step ‘forward’ in the right direction, does’nt actually mean it is. As propbably 80% of people who have used XP and then went to Vista, will tell you. Micro$oft made too many error’s with Vista and its left a scar on most of peoples minds in this ”internet world”. Lets just hope ‘Windows7′ will be ‘perfect’.

And I think I speak for, to be honest, millions of people… XP will probably never be beaten again. Only way to beat it, would be to delete it from all future games/products.

By the way I drive around in a 2006′ Nissan 350Z. And my PC is worth just over £3000. And I’m 23yrs old. Damn I love to boast and I love being big-headed.

#23: I rant my ravings everywhere I can. Not just Vista threads. Vista ran fine on my machine. I got 8Gb RAM, Intel Quad Q9600 Extreme CPU and Asus Striker 2 Formula mainboard. Tripple SLi (3x 8800GTX 768Mg cards) all from novatech.co.uk - I’m very much used to vista. I’ve been using it for 7 months now. And yes, ill admit, since I bought this new machine, its alot better. Still crashes and hangs. And you have 3 diff OS’s and how you ranked them, is your opinion. I bet you if there was a Poll on a site that had say, over 1million hits a day, XP would win. The sad thing is, that I think you beleive that too.

  25. Markuz
    April 10th, 2008 | 16:37

@25 Couldnt agree wit u more mate. But still, finding drivers isnt hard, its just frustrating and time consuming :) If ya can be bothered and have time to waste, download al the drivers for XP, wack em onto a disc or other way of backing up. Format, install XP, sintall drivers. sorted :D Yeh Micro$oft are trying to wipe out XP. SP3 being last major update for XP. Shame, ill continue to use XP till its dying days! :D :D :D

#28: To be honest, your right :-( trying to get the drivers working on the mainboard for tripple SLi was a nightmare. Took me 3 days. Then once my system noticed all 3 were ‘linked’ in SLi, installing the vnidia drivers was another nightmare!. After 3 days messing with bios n mainboard, then 2 days messing with drivers for the cards, I just took it to PC World (shame on me :-( ) paid them £25 n all troubles sorted :-) machines a beast mate. Still probs only be future-game-proof for 2yrs lol. power?? 1350w PSU. easy peasy.

  29. Serenity
    April 10th, 2008 | 16:48

@27 yes… except for some damnable exceptions, such as Acer drivers, some ATI & Nivida laptop drivers, etc. For advanced users running this gamut may be worth it, but maybe not. For general users its almost certain doom. Again, mostly laptops for now, but it will get worse instead of better. Damn shame.

sure I believe you XP would win by far. Maybe even if peopel woul dexpress their honest opinion. but on a board like this, most ppl did not even try vista and would still click on XP is better I kiss m$ arse.

I am gonna dual boot Vista SP1 with my XP SP2 install (SP3 is buggy with some of the apps I use). While I don’t like Vista, I do realize that I have to get used to it just so I am ready for Windows 7.

  39. Whatever
    April 10th, 2008 | 18:02

Been using Vista since before it was officially released. It is a fine OS. Haven’t used XP in ages. Just no need and Vista is so much nicer to use. I use my Hackintosh sometimes, but I prefer Vista to it as well. This is a decent app for Vista if you like these sort of things.

  41. Josh
    April 10th, 2008 | 18:28

Fix! - thanks so much, the keygen certainly didn’t work for me. One question - why would people waste their time posting comments on a Vista programme when they don’t have or don’t like Vista? Puzzling behaviour, esp. by Brits!

  42. Master Yoda
    April 10th, 2008 | 18:54

cool - i will give a it a try. Right now I’m using Xp-antispy which is working for Vista and it’s free. http://xp-antispy.org

As for you idiots who keep chirping about XP versus Vista; when will you stop? Use whatever the hell you like and makes you happy!!! Anytime a new OS is released — the same rants start. Of course the 1993 Honda Accord was the best and most reliable Accord ever made, but the 2008 Honda Accord has lots of great bells and whistles but has not been proven. Not too mention the the 93 Accord was made in Japan (a la XP SP3) and the 08 is made in the US (a la Vista SP1). Do you see where I’m getting with this crap. Everyone stop the Vista vs XP comments - it is really getting old. Rlslog i love you. peace.

lol you drive a 2006 350z? That year has too many problems.
I own a 2007 350z grand touring coupe, 2006 Maxima SE, and a 2005 Honda s2000 and I’m 21 years old. Much more expensive than your car that you so love to boast about. I own two homes. One for me and my wife in Laguna Hills,CA and the other for my parents in Irvine,CA.

May I remind you that I’m 21 years old and unlike you I DO work. In other words, I make my salary from honest hard business work. Not selling drugs or scamming people.

Did I tell you I was 21 and a tad bit more active and successful than you are? How do I know that?

    Oh btw nice computer specs.
Keep your “boasting” down because anyone can “boast”. Don’t flatter yourself.

i did work, for about 4months. not my fault my business runs its self now adays. a little help from the lotto didnt go a miss either. you can have ya two homes, 3 cars. well done for you. ur 21? when I was 21 i was living with my parents in a small 3bed house, i had no car. 2yrs down the line im a multi-millionair n my business is running itself. all i do is get a daily update, via email. thats my job. i’m taking home about £12k a week (thats about $21,800 U.S.D.), sometimes less sometimes more, gotta take the rough with the smooth aint ya. thats just my wage for checkin an email everyday. the interest I earn ontop of my current balance, well, the average person couldnt spend it in 3weeks, and i get that interest, from the bank, every day. and yes, i love to boast.

my parents have their own home, 2 cars, which i bought, same as my 3 siblings, all have their own homes, and two cars each, which i bought, my brothers both have same spec PC’s as me, which i bought. my g/f has a 08′ Jag XK-R, and shes 21, b4 that she had her little audi TT drop-top. which i may also state, that i bought. all out-right. no mortgages, loans. cash used all the way. only reason i aint got somthing silly like a ferrari/lambo is purely becuase i am not willing to pay the rip-off business’s in the UK £6,000 ($11,000) just on car insurance. my lovely 350Z only costs me £1,900 to insure. i got a caterham super 7 kit car too, but it aint finished, no engine at the mo, waiting for focus 2.5 turbo engine from cyril wilcox (google him) and for those of u wanting pics, tough, haha. im in london’s major papers advertised everyday, and im also on major uk newspaper websites in the past archives, and national lottery UK website, just look for the winners in 2006. i got every right to boast, cuz im one of the lucky peeps, who actually win things. an i love it. one more thing i love, i love rubbing peoples faces init.

Have to laugh at all the anti-vista comments. So funny! You think you’re being smart but actually you’re merely showing you suffer from a very common disease known as severe ingorance! Anyone here who has any idea about setting up an OS correctly knows Vista is much faster in almost every area now. Looks nicer, is more user friendly and doesn’t use as much RAM as all you ignoramuses pretend. I only have 300Mb used after bootup.

So stop whinging, you don’t like Vista? Fine. But you’re wasting your time trying to unconvert those of us who have become aware of its advantages
I still use XP for a few things and XP is great, but Vista is not the downgrade you think it is. You merely think it is because of your ignorantitus :)

    #63 matureandwise:

Your so thick it’s unreal. If vista uses LESS RAM, then please, take the time to explain to me why it’s a known fact that Vista will work with 1GB RAM, altho it’s recommended atleast 1.5GB RAM. And why do games require almost double the RAM then if they were played on a machine running XP.

    Example:
TeamFortress 2, XP: 1GB RAM /// Vista: 1.75GB RAM (Recommended Specs)

I admit, Vista is nicer, cleaner, easier. But doesnt that mean its also for the smaller minded people? Who love shiny things and transparent objects on there desktop? Vista might become the best, might. But at the moment why would I want to use an OS thats probably 4th in ranking, behind other M$ OS’s and Mac’s…

I use Vista because it came with my machine, I could switch to an older OS. But like with every other Windows OS that has been released, they have met with the same sort of criticism. Windows should release a less buggy product IMO, but I like to keep up with the current technology.
I have learned more fixing Windows machines than I have running smooth ones.
Yes, I have other machines which run a more stable OS where needed.

    @63

What’s your point on the RAM? My computer with XP uses 260-270MB of RAM after booting up. I’m happy for you that you’re dazzled like a toddler from Vista’s eye candy, good for you. But pretty doesn’t make an OS perform any better or remove its many flaws.
