XboX 360 for $299, no PS3 price cuts
Though Microsoft still hasn’t made it official, every media outlet from Kotaku to the Wall Street Journal has confirmed that the Xbox 360 Pro will soon cost just $299. The move lops $50 off the price of the console and–once in effect–will make it just $50 more than the Nintendo Wii and $100 cheaper than the $399 40GB PlayStation 3. In the past, such moves have sparked tit-for-tat price wars. In 2004, Microsoft dropped the cost of the original Xbox to $149, only to see Sony do the same to the PlayStation 2 weeks later. Last summer, Sony discontinued the 60GB PS3 by pricing it to sell at $499–a move that was quickly followed by Microsoft discounting its Xbox 360 models to $279 (HDD-less Arcade), $349 (20GB Pro), and $449 (120GB Elite).
Four months later, Sony introduced the $399 40GB PS3, a move that has put the PS3 and 360 neck-and-neck in sales ever since. Though the June US sales numbers are not yet out, many expect the introduction of the $499 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle to further boost the platform at retail. So will Microsoft’s latest move spark a response from Sony? No, according to Nobuyuki Oneda, the electronics giant’s chief financial officer. “Our plan is not to reduce the price,” the executive told the Nomura Asia Equity forum in Singapore, reports Dow Jones. “Our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability.”

I will wait for the PS3 price to come down to an affordable price, like $100.
Oh my, am I the first poster?
It will be a while before PS3 prices come down.. It was stated that they lost not sure how much but somewhere in the Billion mark because the price of the PS3 is lower then the production cost. I love all my systems equally but seems the PS3 is going to lose if they don’t do something fast.
“Our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability.”
This means they care more about money than their fan base.
dude it wont come down considering wht you get with the ps3 i say its pretty much hit dead end ur looking at a -$50 if anything goodluck on ur wait cause i see that not happening for the next yea or 2 just do a comparison of the two consoles and see whats in your best intrest and purchase that one my solid advise is never to go on peoples verdict but to do ur own research.
Sure… a PS3 for $100, You do realise that even a PS2 costs more than that don’t you? A PSP costs around $170. Wah, you’re living in a dream world. In 7 years time, the PS3 will still cost more than $100.
People want something for nothing nowadays and forget that a PS3 is also the best value for money Blu-ray player on the market, something that the 360 will never get.
By the way things are going, the PS2 is likely to last longer than the 360.
PS3 is a waste of time.. Once you play 360 you never go back to a PS3..
The 360 is getting more and more interesting, though if the ps3 WAS to go down another $50 and their ads were to focus on the fact that it is a Blu-ray player as well I could see it getting a nice jump as people understood the value.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zWaQQqR8RG8
The PS2 has already lasted longer than the original X-Box. Shame on you #5 for comparing one gen to another.
Not only that, but Xbox 360 and PS3 each have their own proprietary games. PS3 also had blu-ray built-in, and must be purchased as an add-on for 360. While 360 does have microsoft media center compatibility, having an external blu-ray… what a waste of space. And on top of all that PS3 is Linux based! And you can even change the distro. Like to see microsoft allowing anything like in the near future.
Microsoft will never be able to truly compete with Sony, which is the cause for them to drop the price. And free online play vs subscription based online… lets think about that for a second. You end up spending more on the 360 over its lifetime in order to get a comparable unit with the PS3.
Sony has done great development on the emotion chip making the graphics state of the art. Microsoft has only tried to emulate this… not that well I might add.
And as far as games go, more manufacturers are coding games for the PS3 than the 360 despite the 360 being a windows based coding. What does that say for the people who really know their technology? Simply put that even though it may be harder to build a game for the PS3 the fan base is well worth it in the long run and that the reliability of PS3 games are in fact superior to any other 3rd gen console on the market.
Sony over Microsoft any day.
And Australia still sells Xbox360 for $499
i mean like wtf?.. how mcuh does it cost in America?
au currecny and us currecny are about the same so yea
Anyone that understands value and marketing will see right past this recent move by Microsoft. The PS3 gives you more bang for your buck and console buyers are starting to see this. The increase in PS3 sales for the past several months is a clear indication of this. The price of the 360 is coming down to attract those that see the value the PS3 offers over the 360 but want to save money nonetheless. If Microsoft thought the 360 could keep its #1 standing in overall sales without a drop in price they certainly wouldn’t make the price cut. CEOs love money! They clearly see that consumer opinion is shifting and this is a knee jerk reaction. This is a sign of weakness for the 360 but a price war is good for us so I don’t mind.
I love my PS3 and I hardly ever play games. Its the greatest movie streaming machine. And they finally have a clock and in game chat and more. All my dreams have come true. You lamers can keep ur over heatin POS Microsoft garbage.
I have all 3 systems, to call me a fan boy is just plain humorous. I totally agree with what post 5 said, completely disagree with what post 6 said. Yes, the 360 has some AwEsOmE games, Like if anyone that owns a 360 isn’t waiting patiently (or impatiently like me) for Gears of War 2, take your 360’s power cord and make a noose, slip it around the neck area, toss the 360 into a lake, say hello to the fishes… BUT… Quality, Noise, Media usage, Reliability, hell even appearance CANNOT hold a candle to the PS3. I am more of a casual gamer, the average game sucks no matter who has the best exclusivities, It’s the rare gems like Metal Gear, Gears of War, Super Mario Galaxy, that make every system worth owning. Stop whining like some broke “It sucks cause I can’t afford it” poser. If I can afford it, so can you. That’s why they make plastic my friend
@13, very well said
P.S. …I AM waiting impatiently for GOW2
@9 & 11
WELL PUT!!
Well, guys don’t make it another fanboys war. Lets all act like PC owners and spit on all consoles
). As for current gen consoles (next gen if You like) i would like to have both, both got great exclusives, SONY online service is shaping up to be really great despite them being greenhorns on this field

Seriously, what’s been told, what You pay is what You get and despite PS3 being more expensive makes it a better bang for the buck. I wouldn’t want You guys to remind the history with first xbox and ps2. xbox became dead within months while ps2 is still breathing and I believe it will outlive xbox360 (more than 100 million owners is something developers see
I wish You all xbox360 and PS3 fans happy hours with Your console
Lol there go the PS3/360 fanboys
I’d buy the PS3 if I could mod it and download/burn games for it, and since I can’t do either considering there is no mod chip or flashing software and burning to bluray is too damn expensive, I stuck with the x360.
Will buy the PS3 later though
Hey Hey

Let’s behave like adults
Stealing is bad ;-( Unless You have fun thanks to that (Marceli and modding) but hey, i’m nod judging anyone since i’m using rlslog for obvious reasons what makes us all a one not so great family
PS3 is great in one thing, I could run Linux on it (sluggish and no Video hardware support but what the heck). Xbox had great modding scene and I don’t mean mods allowing to play on “imported games” and “backups”. I have no clue about X360, how’s this compared to oldie xbox (which by the way had their life support juices cut off really fast
Best games coming out soon are still all on PC
Diablo 3
Starcraft 2
Red Alert 3
Mirrors Edge
Only worthy games that looks like you are going to need a new console for are Resident Evil 5 and God of War 3. The current generation of gaming consoles is still overkill.
With a PS2 an HDD for dl content, a PC with a good GPU and internet connection and an upscaling DivX player you can grab the broadest spectrum of digital entertainment at the minimal cost. Any more than that and you are spending money that you don’t need to spend.
Perhaps, in 3 years time, at a 3rd of todays cost, I’ll buy a PS3 to catch up on the few titles I have missed out on. Till then the suckers with current gen consoles and Blu Ray players can keep em.
Oh, and to the fool who posted ‘that is what pladtic is for’… ever wonder why the world is currently in a credit crisis?
Don’t be an idiot, save your cash and dl the hell out of holltwood and big games companies. The old cry of ‘hack the planet’ is still valid.

I have a good feeling the PS3 price will come down to $200 for me then. I’ll bet you each a chronic blunt I can get it for around that much. A brand newly working one.
xbox360 > ps3
Like I had said a # of times before also, between M$ & $ONY, $ONY is the bigger evil & they never even cared to hide it - not in the past, not now & they’ll not do so in future.
And I’m not just talking about consoles here. $ONY enjoys palying the role of a tight-up b!tch. As far as closed development, DRM, snoopong on users and tactically pricing against the favor of customers are concerned, M$, Apple etc. can still learn a lot by reading a page or 2 from teh “Book of Evil Plans” found in $ONY HQ (written in Hapanese crypto of course).
Yea! SONY really SooX!
PS2 had the worst DVD compatability, it had pal/ntsce trouble, Region Coding, Small Scratch can restart the whole movie, Bad remote functions but as a Game console made in the early 2000, I agree it is the best and above all it was modable.
As far as PS3 is concerned, Monster speed and technology which the games haven’t put to full use but will soon. I don’t Know how error free, the blu ray has been. It is not modable as of yet, 5 games cost = 1 PS3 that is just damn Costly. On the whole, we get a powerful machine with very High Prices.
Now Xbox360, almost has the same specs of that of PS3. Most average games and Popular games are released on a multi console basis - so there Xbox360 user is lucky. Xbox360 has its own set of Trademark games like Halo series. Lacks Bluray technology, which is a dent on its reputation. Highly Modable and therefore games don’t cost much. Price are comparatively less but thats good. If not for Bluray then Xbox360 is good when considering the price of the console and the games.
I don’t know how good the bluray is in PS3, if it is like that of PS2 DVD feature……then its better to get a Bluray player with alot of features.
I don’t wanna take sides because both are equally good
A good PC is now both more powerful and cheaper than the PS3. A few years ago consoles were good because they weren’t as expensive as computers. Now you can upgrade your computer (everyone has a computer and you probably won’t need to upgrade your chassi and power supply) for the price of a PS3 and get something far more powerful.
And considering how expensive bluray movies are I sure as hell don’t need a bluray player. I would need a bluray burner for my computer first, but then I could save alot of money by just connecting a TV/projector to the computer or watch the movies directly on a good monitor.
$299 in new zealand dollars here as well
@9 Impath44
I said that the PS2 will last longer than the 360 because Sony are releasing a 4th Generation PS2 soon. They are marketing it at first times gamers and there’s still a large number of PS2 games in development. If Sony do it right, the PS2 could do it.
As for the PS3, it will take a few years before developers can harness the power of the machine, just like the PS2 showed what it could do a few years after release.
For any European gamers, the 360 will not get a price cut as it had one a few months ago. I suspect Australia will see a price cut in a few months time but it won’t help sales that much. Apart from America and the UK, the 360 gets outsold by the PS3 in every other region. In Japan, the PS2 sells 3x as many units as the 360 on a monthly basis and the Wii has been outsold by the PSP for the last 4-6 months in a row.
For all the PC gamers:
There was an interview on qj.net last week with some dude from M$ and he outlined their current strategy for releasing their top line M$ published games, which is to release them on the 360 first then release them on PC 6-12 months later. This is what they are doing to increase the sales of the 360. The dude said that if a title was launched at the same time for PC and 360, they would see 80% of the sales go to the PC. So, anyone wanting Gears Of War 2, only has to wait because it will come to the PC, just like the first one did and M$ categorically denied the existence of it, even though the game boxes were photographed. Follow the white rabbit…

XBL Gold Card (12 Month) - £39.99
DVD-R DL x 5 - £13.99
So lets say the in shop price of a game is £39.99, on my modded Xbox 360 that means im saving £185.96 & get 5 games.
Even if you add on the XBL gold card im still saving £145.97.
So while you Sony boys pay for a console with pretty much no graphical difference & then £39.99 for every single game, I and many other Xbox 360 users will be saving money and be getting great games that look pretty much identical to the PS3’s anyway.
- “And as far as games go, more manufacturers are coding games for the PS3 than the 360 despite the 360 being a windows based coding”
Are you pulling figures out your a$$, do you have solid proof? Everyone knows the Xbox 360 has more people coding for it.

Xbox 360 has Windows Media Center connectivity as well as steaming movies/images/audio from any pc/laptop. On top of that it also allows you to put movies/images/audio onto a USB stick or CD and play stuff that way.
All we can agree on is that now the xbox gives you good features for the money and if you counter that its the only easily safely modeable system even better.
And the Wii doesn’t even play dvds so bluray is definitly not a requirement for a game system.

I don’t find the framerate on the PS3 to be very consistent, nor have I seen any game look visually better than the Xbox 360. The PS3’s online support isn’t anywhere near Xbox Live, and like someone has eloquently put it, Sony does not care about its fan base. The ps3 controller is a joke, really the only thing I like about it, that’s better than the xbox, is the sleek interface (rotating globe), and bluray support.
All those Sony fanboys who are here, on rlslog, to say that the 360 lack of BluRay are pure hypocrite. Don’t ask me why
Xbox 360 is a games system, it doesnt give a sh!t about blu-ray.
@30 Mike
The media capabilities especially over a wireless network are better on PS3 than a 360. Just like the 360, I can stream images/audio/movies to the PS3 from the computer but I prefer to put images/audio/HD films on the PS3’s HDD. I’ve got 129GB of HD films (720p & 1080p) on the PS3 (something I can’t do on the 360) meaning I could take my PS3 round to a friend’s house and not have to bother configuring it to another network then wait while the computer decodes the film and streams it to the PS3.
If a game looks bad on the PS3 or 360 then it’s a fault of the developer not the console. We all know the PS3 is hard and expensive to develop for but many developers have managed it brilliantly. EA & Valve are some of the worst culprits however, Criterion EA did a wonderful job with Burnout Paradise. FRD did a cr@p job with Haze. They delayed the game and didn’t do much with the extra time. The same could be said with GTA4 on the 360. There were features implemented on the PS3 version which made it look better than it did on the 360, this eventually justified the delay of the game.
You will see that in a few upcoming multi-platform games, although developers want them to look similar across the formats, the PS3 versions will include things that cannot be done on the 360. The first to hit the market will be Ghostbusters if it doesn’t get delayed. The Force Unleashed is supposed to contain some PS3 specific features too.
As for XBL Gold subscriptions, the ONLY thing it offers which you cannot do on the PSN is this:
* Give player feedback to rate your teammates and opponents on their sportsmanship, abilities, and conduct to influence matchmaking. *
So go ahead and spout how much better paying for XBL is over the PSN.
What I should have put which I missed off is that I can also put those HD films on the PS3’s HDD over a wireless network without the need for having Vista Home Premium/Ultimate or XP MCE.
From what I’ve heard, you cannot do this on XP Home/Pro with a 360 because you need Media Centre to provide access to the 360’s HDD (if it has one).
Ah its the Sony troll.
“Peter Parker” dont you have anything better to do then think your better then everybody else for owning a PS3?
Notice how you completely ignored the fact im still saving money.
GTA 4 looking better over the PS3? wow a few smoother pixels.
“the PS3 versions will include things that cannot be done on the 360″ - Says who? Where is this information online or is it just word of mouth from Sony trolls.
Why are you posting in an Xbox 360 topic if your a PS3 owner that bashes and puts down the Xbox 360 every single time you talk.
Go away.
& FYI the Xbox 360 does not need MCE.
As from the last Xbox 360 update all media streaming can be done from any pc/laptop via WMP/Zune software.
Why it Sony fan boys only argument for the PS3 is the blu-ray drive? I have 2 LG blu-ray players and only spent $225 for both. Personally having to purchase 40-$50 movies isn’t exactly worth the ridiculous price tag on a console.
“The media capabilities especially over a wireless network are better on PS3 than a 360″ info link?
“I could take my PS3 round to a friend’s house and not have to bother configuring it to another network then wait while the computer decodes the film and streams it to the PS3.” so it magically guesses his WEP/WPA? - And there is no decode wait time on the Xbox 360.
How are you supposed to know anything if you dont even own a Xbox 360 and say things such as “From what I’ve heard” from who? Other dumb4ss Sony fanboys/trolls?
“I’ve got 129GB of HD films (720p & 1080p) on the PS3″
How do you manage that when the PS3 only supports FAT or FAT32 which has a 4GB file size limit? The 360 supports HFS+ so you can just plug in a fat external hard drive via USB and do exactly what you’re blabbing on about.
I pretty much find all consoles way way way overpriced this generation. I’m a PC guy, though, and spend way more on my rigs, so it’s relative. The only thing I want from consoles is sports games (or an occasional title like GTA4) which totally lack on the PC any more. I’d never consider this generation consoles at all if the PC would actually put out the games. BUT, M$ might have hooked me with this price cut. I finally gave away my PS2 and Xbox because I never touched them any more. I have literally never played my kids Wii. But now I think I’ll get a cheap core 360, put a Kreon drive to use and maybe play a game once in a while.
This isn’t just a small price difference any more between the 360 and PS3. I think there is a market that will fall for this. Heck, I think I am in the market that will fall for this.
@44 peterpecker
The PS3’s HDD is not FAT32. I don’t know what the format is but there isn’t an upper file size limit, hence why some of the films take up well over 9GB in space. External HDD connectivity is currently limited to FAT32, but that could can with a firmware update.
@40 & 43 Mike
The info was from a friend who has more than one 360. He said that his XP Pro laptop cannot be used to put films on the 360’s HDD, but his housemates Vista Home Premium laptop can due to Media Centre. Streaming to a 360 or PS3 is what I consider to be a PS3/360 connected to a TV and you want to watch the content stored on the PC on that connected TV. I’m talking about copying that content from the PC onto the console’s HDD via wireless network, so you can disconnect that console from the network/switch off the PC and watch it at any time you want. A number of 360 owners have said that this cannot be done without Media Centre.
“I could take my PS3 round to a friend’s house and not have to bother configuring it to another network then wait while the computer decodes the film and streams it to the PS3.” This is correct although you misunderstood what I was saying. Because I have the HD films on the PS3, I wouldn’t have to connect it to the network and rely on streaming the films to the PS3.
There is always a delay in streaming HD content to a console, as the PC has to transcode it and build up a small buffer. The more data involved, the longer the wait. Streaming music or images will obviously have less of a wait than a standard 700MB - 1.36GB DivX or 4GB+ HD film.
As for games including effects specifically for the PS3, this is from the company developing the Ghostbusters game:
“He confirmed that for the PS3 and 360 versions, Terminal Reality has exclusive downloadable content ready. And while we’re on the topic of exclusives, Randel hinted that if Ghostbusters: The Videogame was PS3-only, it would have gone far. He explained:
We’re running the same game for both platforms but if we made a PS3-only game, for example, you could double the amount of objects on screen that you’re seeing.
True enough, the Infernal Engine was tuned to be identical on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Executive producer Brendan Goss, however, showed off the unique technology they have for the PS3 version, just to prove that the Infernal Engine was made for Sony’s next generation console.
At the Sierra Spring Break 08, the two versions were demonstrated side by side. Goss explained while a Ghostbuster walked down a cobbled street:
We’re demoing on both systems so you can see the game is fully running on both systems at the same performance level. Something unique for the PS3 is the displacement mapping.The ground you’re looking at is only two polygons, it’s a completely flat plane. We get the illusion of the 3D brick surface because of the relief map.”

I correct mistakes and wild accusations made by other people about the PS3. I try to get information about the 360 from people who know, since I will never buy one because it doesn’t suit my needs.
@42 Jack
The main thing is that all PS3 games are sold on Blu-ray disc so although the current transfer rates are slow compared to 12x DVD, the games can hold a hell of a lot more content (50GB compared to 8.5GB). Multidisc games are going to be the future of the 360 (stated by Shane Kim). The last multidisc game I played was on the PS1, but M$ insist on giving their customers choice, so you can either play games with 3 or more discs or you can wait for it to install a small amount of data on the PS3’s HDD. The choice is yours.
@ Mike (again)
I correct mistakes and wild accusations made by other people about the PS3. I try to get information about the 360 from people who know, since I will never buy one because it doesn’t suit my needs.
If you really, really want to know why the streaming capabilities of the PS3 are better than the 360, check out the differences between BTVision (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7178661.stm) and PlayTV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayTV) and which of the 2 consoles do not have the capability of handling live TV and cannot record streamed TV.
@45 rrpostal
If you like gaming online, you cannot do that on a 360 Core/Arcade unless you buy a 20GB/120GB HDD. I don’t think that M$ do enough to make this fact well known.

PS3 online is free and X-box 360 you have to pay a monthly subscription thats one reason I would buy a PS3. Plus I think Sony will eventually have better PS3 exclusive selection of games. I’m a bit dissapointed with the games that are coming out most seem to be FPS’s or third person shooters. Basically were getting games that could be on the PS2 but with better graphics. Why no god games on PS3 like Black and White that would be amazing with the increased AI due to the power of the PS3.
Peter Parker will you f”ck off already.
“Why are you posting in an Xbox 360 topic if your a PS3 owner that bashes and puts down the Xbox 360 every single time you talk.”
Correct, in every single post I have read “Peter Parker” puts the PS3 1st and mentions all the things that the Xbox 360 apparently cant do… is he even correct? NO!
“If you like gaming online, you cannot do that on a 360 Core/Arcade unless you buy a 20GB/120GB HDD. I don’t think that M$ do enough to make this fact well known.”
So thats why im able to connect and play online on my arcade 360 just fine?
Your full of bull$hit, dont post anything comparing the Xbox 360 to the PS3 until you actually own one yourself. Maybe then you can then get your facts straight because your friend who apparently told you all this stuff does not have a clue wtf he is on about.
ps3 is worth every penny, sony are still looseing cash on each sale so i wouldnt drop price either if i was them, its always going to have updates to further improve its online services etc, has blueray, can play 95% of scene releases iv chucked at it without having to convert them, at the end of the day u get what ya pay for, xbox is a good machine, but ps3 is a beast!
The 360 isn’t a good machine not only is it flawed with the infamous RROD even on the newer models but most of the games are just FPS. Besides its flaws, I wouldn’t dare pick it up again I already have one because of a gift, too bad I can’t take it back to get a refund. What I really want is a ps3, but thats just me and a few others. Once you go black you never go back thats the old saying lol.

Present day gaming is all about network usability, both in play and support. Console gaming evens the playing field, something pc gaming can not offer. Gaming over a network on a console is best with a wired connection connected to a server that can handle awesome amounts of traffic.
PS3 is Sony’s real first attempt with live gaming. I couldn’t even get my PS2 to system link playing GT4. It’s my opinion they(Sony) are in a little over their head on this one.

XBox sucks so it has to drop it’s price to try and catch up with all the other console sales. The only console that sold less than the XBox last month was the PSP(also a POS) so it looks like the public has spoken. Wii is the best. PS3 is 2nd. Xbox is last, as always.
@53 dale
If I was wrong about the 360 Arcade then I apologise. Lots of forums I have read stated that the Core/Arcade needed the HDD to play games online. Whether or not it just need a memory card, I don’t know but this type of info is all over the place.
I’m not incorrect in everything I post. The PS3 has it’s faults, it’s not a perfect machine BUT it’s faults are nowhere near as troublesome as those on the 360.
What was said about the 360 (including the 360 Elite) not being capable of recording or handling live TV is very true, it’s stated very clearly on BBC News article.
Don’t be rude to me, I haven’t sworn at anyone here. We can have a discussion without resorting to swearing or name calling.
I have a question for you Dave: Is BioShock a good game?
Its dropping its price because the parts are getting cheaper to manufacture.
Xbox 360 dominates the PS3 when it comes to the quality games and multiplayer.
Sony have no experience when it comes to online gaming, and it shows with each lagged up & buggy game.
The concept of BioShock and its graphics yes, but the overall game no.
It does not draw you in and has no replay value once complete, not to mention the endings (yes theres 2) suck.
I would suggest downloading the PC demo if you have a gfx card capable of playing it.
Just so you know, the Xbox 360 is actually has shoddy quality work. It breaks down, needs repair, etc. This applies to old and new models as well. I hear many terror stories. Much more than the PS3.
i can only laugh of all the fan boys here come on all 3 cons. have for and against its up to the person what he prefer..
Why do people always call Sony evil, I man sure they want to make money what else is the purpose of selling something.
Microsoft are the real evil company, they re just out to dominate whatever market they get into by spending billions (which they never even got back yet) to push a console on the market in an already competitive market. They then charge all their customer monthly charges to go online for what I don’t know.
Although they invested some money into HDDVD they turned their backs on it and let it die just so they can launch their online movie service that they will also take a cut on like anything else sold on the Xbox live system.
That’s my take on it anyway. Also everything is an extra on cheaper Xbox model, you want to recharge your controller you have buy batteries and so on. Only upside is you can mod it to play copied games which will void the warranty so when it goes wrong which it probably will at some point you are buggered.
Oh and games will never fill up a DVD, :D.
Not to mention the fact that these new gen consoles are not as good a graphics as people think. An 8800gt & decent C2D cpu will urinate all over any console.
The only problem is, us REAL pc gamers will have only shoddy ports to play.
Consoles are for kids.
“Consoles are for kids.”
-Waste money keeping the PC up to date every few years.
-Everyone is playing under different specs making games harder to develop.
-Easier to mod/hack games.
When using a console it insures playing is fair and if the game works on 1 system its problebly going to work on millions of others.
PC gaming has come to a standstill due to consoles, and I for one am happy about it.

Well, I for one, am not.
#67 - umm, do you not remember the root kit? Pick your poison but sony is equally evil if not more than MS.
Apparently a new 360 SKU is going to be on the shelves soon. It WON’T have Blu-ray but it might have a 60GB HDD.
PS3 price doesn’t have to come down. Sales are up, and will only increase. So why would Sony drop the price? They already lose a good bit on every console anyhow.
The PS3 has just this year really hit its stride, and become the console everyone was hoping it would have been upon release. The new 2.41 firmware adds just about everything I wanted. Sony has shown that the will continue to upgrade the PS3 substantially through firmware. Works for me.
The PS3 is a no brainer for $399, and if you shop smart, you cant get it for close to $300. Top notch Blu ray, upscales SD DVD’s, bluetooth, I can add a new hdd up to 250gb for under $100, surf the internet, etc.
i hyave both of em so i cant cry about it but i only like halo 3 other wise it would suck
