XboX 360 finally outsold original XboX
Microsoft has confirmed that the the Xbox 360 has now outsold the original Xbox, meaning that it has sold over 25 million units worldwide since its 2005 launch. “We’ve already surpassed the installed base of the original Xbox–which is a really significant milestone,” Microsoft entertainment VP Chris Lewis told MCV. “We’re at a price point that is uniquely placed–not least of which because we’re in somewhat of a challenging economic time,” he added. ” Ever since we dropped the price seven weeks ago, we’ve outstripped PS3 on a weekly run rate in all the territories we care about in EMEA–specifically the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Russia.”
Lewis did not provide an exact figure as to how many Xbox 360s have been sold worldwide thus far. As of September 30, Nintendo had sold 34.55 million units of the Wii hardware, with Sony’s PlayStation 3 sitting at 16.84 million units worldwide. Another survey discovered the three major video-game consoles needlessly add a significant amount to consumers’ electric bills each year, with much of the unnecessary energy use caused by people keeping their machines on when not in use. On average, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 use 150 watts and 119 watts of electricity, respectively, more than prior generations of the consoles.

No doubt that microsoft and xbox 360 is the best one.. Ps3 and the other consoles sux… its true.. Xbox 360 is very cheap, everyone can buy it and enjoy it + that the Online Mode is VERY good and you get many better features than PS3 and no lags anyways, i think xbox 360 is the best Gaming console currently now.. PS3 is just FANCY , if you are a rich boy and you dont know how to use your money and you dont know anything about gaming BUY PS3′
if you are a Student and you want a ALL in ONE console buy xbox 360.
BTW:
xbox 360 dont breaks anymore after the new update, you can just copy your game to your hard disk, and you dont hear ANY sounds..

ps3 is the best bang for your buck. untl recently it was only 50 dollars moe offered hd movie playback and didnt break nearly as much as xbox. microsoft screws its customers. making you pay for online and hd players.. plus it breaks.. not to mention its also hanging around 85-90% of its capeability while ps3 is at 30-40% it will be just like last time sony off to a slow start and then ultimately owning the market. i have 5 friends who bought the 360 and traded it in for a ps3. i have none that went the other way
I do prefer Xbox 360 but Wii is still a pretty good console

PS3 is a great console. BUT!!!!! we’re still in a DVD era….. once everyone enters the Blue ray era then maybe the PS3 will go up in sales… blue ray is too expensive right now for the average joe…. but it is dropping in price like all electronics.
as far as games go, i’ll bet the ps3 games could fit on a DVD9 so really the blueray is only good for the movies wich can run up to 40GB in size… the 360 is talkin bout gettin a blueray drive for the console… so u can play good games…. and hopefully watch your blueray on the 360 sometime soon.
the big name games are another thing that help the console sales are good games. Its funny how Resistance 2 came out this month but it didn’t even get a midnight sale at video game stores such as Gamestop … EB Games etc…. but Gears 2 on the other hand did get a midnight sale… midnight sales go on depending on how big the game title is and how many reservations they got, so really you don’t need stats to see who sales more… I’ve been a sony fanboy since the PSX and PS2… but the PS3 was just a big disappointment for me. I don’t like Microsoft personally…. but hey… i have a 360… i’m running Vista 64 and i got a Zune… you can hate all u want on microsoft but in the end u gotta love’em

I hate steve jobs on a whole. i own an iphone and thank god for jailbreaking otherwise i would have thrown it out 2 days after buying it. im just saying sony goes to bat for its followers when it comes to consoles. they provide sooo much more for so much less. give it a yr and then compare the games. currently they are designing most games for both platforms and the economy sucks (thanks mr Bush) when more of the exclusive games that take advantage of all the wonders the cell processer offers (same technology in the worlds most powerful supercomputer) and prices go down or wages go up you will be all about them too. remember the ps2 sold 5x as many units as xbox (which also made you pay for a dvd player even though it cae out after ps2) but i do run Vista too. I dont see why eople complain about it. I also run xp pro on my desktop and Fedora.

so the PS3 outstripped the 360 in the rest of the EMEA (whatever that is; seems to be related to europe or something although Russia is huge) and will proceed with something like we outstripped the 360 in Poland, Norway, Switzerland, Austria etc and that’s all the territories WE CARE ABOUT.

Two xbox 360’s in my household. Love them, especially flashed =)
They’ve both been working fine for 6-8 months respectively.
Since newest dashboard update (doubt it was from that) … I’ve been playing Gears 2 and End War. 62 degrees in our house, plenty of clearance around the xbox’s. They both sit up right.
Within 20 minutes of play on Saturday, got the RRoD … error code flashed…Failed GPU Unit
Yesterday… same thing happens playing Gears from the HD after about 1 hour of play. Same code.
Sorry M$, love the product (aside from being dvd based and noisy) and love your dashboard (and copying of the Wii) and expanding into NetFlix…. But the 360 SUCKS in reliability… these were bought within the last year , Elite 360’s….
I have friends on their 3rd, 4th or 5th 360 now… Yes the extension of three yrs for warranty claims of RRoD is nice…but freaking fix the design!!! Don’t just add some new fins, and heat sink platters to try and cool the innards down… going cheap for the sake of a price point is clearly coming back to bite the consumer in the ass.
I hope M$ can just give us either a slimmed down, quality made 360 v2.0 (heck id pay 50-75$ more for higher in internals) or a xbox 720 (which is rumored just as much as the PS4 for 2010-2011)

If you got the RROD its an easy fix; google the X Clamp Mod. I did it to my 360 after it got the RROD and I didn’t want to get a new one cuz I already flashed iXtreme on my drive and it gave it life again for another 3-4 months before it was toasted. Good for a few month temp fix but eventually it’ll become totally defective. I still prefer 360 to PS3 though; the hackability keeps me coming back.

The PS3 gives a great online experience for it being free. I would compare equally as good do Live.

we just bought an Xbox 360 for home..we would have been happy with a PS3 also, but right now they are overpriced and there are less games..If you are already a hardcore gamer then PS3 would be the choice for sure..we’re not..we wanted value for money as a game console AND a media player.
Bluray for me is pointless until it becomes a serious and affordable data storage medium as well…otherwise you end up with sh$t in so many formats you cant do much with on your computer.

OK the PC gamers out there a right…. PC games are better… but a console is a lil better at this economic period (like some1 said be4 is his/her post “thanks Mr. Bush”) I had my PC running above most pc game recommended settings. that was like 6 months ago… now its running at the recommended settings for new games such as Deadspace (Thanks to RELOADED) and NFS Undercover… so in bout 6 more months it might be running at the minimum settings… so that said.. if u got the cash to be upgrading every now and then… the by all means PC rulez! but if ur on a budget like me… consoles are the way to go…and it will save u tons of money .. also, u will always be at the settings it should be (unless you don’t have a 720p or 1080p HDTV)
No i dont lie.. All people knows that Microsoft is Proof in internet and online services, and you can easily google and see that xbox has better Live service than ps 3.. ALL people say that ps 3 SUX in online gaming.. but xbox is very good.. i am agree with your friend in SOME games they have Lagg but the problem is from the GAMES server, because you NEVER see any lagg in games like, Halo 3, Fifa 2009 or NBA and… also games that has GOOOD providers…

ps3 gamers also get screwed by the 360…
games that are made for both consoles cant use the full potential of a 50gb bluray disk because the 360 still uses 8gb dvds…

ps3 has more game why? because you can use ps1 ps2 and ps3 games. now why you need to have netflix if you have a computer and internet. now if you buy a technology you going to get something that you only can use for 1 year or for 10 years. if you said 1 year or less go with xbox360 but if you said more buy a ps3 because the future is now.

I have both a PS3 and a 360 and I like both but the controllers for the 360 are much better and the online play is much more reliable. I would rather pay £40 a year for something that works properly.
I bought the PS3 mainly for the Blu-Ray playback and it is excellent at this but if there is a choice between formats for a game I always get the 360 version.
I honestly don’t know where people get the idea that all 360’s break, I’ve had mine since the release date and it’s fine.

Fanboys? I have a PS3, Wii, had an Xbox then XBox360 until 2nd ROD, PSP, iPhone, Macs and Windows machines. I have no preference for the hardware, but the software sure makes a difference. I’m waiting until the PS3 finally understands multitasking/multithreading (why can’t you stream video, while playing a game, or streaming to PSP), but no other operating system does it well either including Windows, Mac, or whatever. I prefer the PS3 over XBox, the iPhone over my previous phones, and Mac over Windows, but I use all of them.
Does that screw with the statistics? Or the flamers?

In the Netherlands you get a Xbox for free when you buy a car insurance. It’s nothing special anymore. PS3 it’s a collectors item. Wii for fun with r*t**d games.

obviously everybody has their own preference as to what console they like the most since everybody is different. I would hazard as to guess that only a minority prefer to play games on a pc when they have these consoles too.
As for the people who say pc games are the best probably don’t own a console. but that’s just what i think.
What a debate about consoles and PC. They’re all different. A PC is made for all sort of stuff, not just gaming. Consoles are really made for gaming. And yes a PC can achieve better grafics, but look how much you have to pay. And tell the truth what is funner then sitting on your lazy ASS in the living chair, playin a Shooter with friends or online? That is a plus for consoles. Offcourse PC-gaming has a kick too
And the fight about the PS3 & Xbox 360 is unbelieveble.
They’re both special. Next to the Blu-Ray and system of the PS3 the consoles are practicly the same. Gears Of War, Fable II, and for the PS3 Resistance. Get what you want. Bye them both or wait a bit, They won’t vanish. Even SNES, etc still gets played so patience is not a disaster i think…

i’ve both consoles(ps3 & xbox 360) but if there is games release for both systems always get the ps3 version. do u know why? it B/c xbox 360 is lack in graphic and the fact it took more than 1 discs for most games( Lost Odyssey took 4 discs and Infinite Undiscovery have 2) if it on ps3, is only need 1 disc and still have extra space. FFXIII will be releaseing for both systems, Guess which version i am going to get.
I have all 3. I like the xbox for serious gaming, the wii for fun, and the PS3 for the media center.
I the 360 i my favorite mainly becaus it is flashed. and thus i have more games for it. another advantage is that you can play both GH 1,2 and 3 + rockbad 1 and 2, with just one guitar. So if i had to choose i would choose the 360. but enjoy having them all.
another thing is i have seen on several ocations that the 360 have a superior resolution output in regards to the PS3.
an exaple is when i was out lokking to buy assasin’s creed the 360 had 1080p output wheras the PS3 “only” had 1080i. and i chose the 360 version becaus of that.

only said on the 360 hdtv 720i/1080i/1080p is not resolution? is only the tv
if you search for comparison images on any gamer sites, the giving fact will be that the ps3 version got smoother image while the 360 have more square edges. in not how high the resolution is, is the way the games is render.
think about it, if the file is( let say 10GB) which is better? put it on a 30Gb & up Disc(ps3) or 8.5GB disc(xbox 360) if it more GB, that explain about the multiple discs. most of the time shrinking the file size will also shrink the picture. if u see the blu-ray movie files u know the size can go beyond 8.5GB. right? if not b/c there are some exclusive games on xbox 360, I wouldn’t consider buying one to begin with.
