Wristcutters A Love Story LiMiTED DVDSCR XviD-DoNE

And the DVDSCR’s keep coming with the DVDSCR of the movie Wristcutters: A Love Story. The quality is pretty average for a DVDSCR but still very watchable. Its been pretty well received at IMDB but not as well at RT. Looks like a comedy worth checking out.

If a film begins with a suicide, chances are, it won’t be the feel-good movie of the year. But WRISTCUTTERS: A LOVE STORY is surprisingly sweet and funny even as it proudly features a dark streak that lives up to its title. After a rough breakup, Zia (Patrick Fugit) decides to off himself by slashing open his wrists. Instead of waking up in heaven or hell, Zia arrives in a bland world that looks a lot like the one he just left, though with far less color, life, and–obviously–happiness. In this afterlife reserved for suicides, no one can smile, and the sky is a starless void. But when Zia hears that his ex-girlfriend (Leslie Bibb) has killed herself and lives in his world, he sets out on a road trip to find her. Joined by Russian musician Eugene (Shea Whigham) and pretty hitchhiker Mikal (Shannyn Sossamon), Zia crosses the desolate landscape and encounters a variety of strange characters. With the help of Mikal, Zia realizes that maybe his ex-girlfriend isn’t really what he’s looking for.

Not seen this one personally, but my (18yr old) daughter rates it in her top 10 ever, so great timing. Now I just need Vito/Tito to make my Christmas so this doesn’t take 20+ hours to download! :| ps. my girl’s not emo… I’d put this more in the category (but obviously not as good) as Requiem for a Dream.

Yastorage.com and Tito to the rescue again. :) Movie downloaded. Not as crisp and sharp as other recent screeners but otherwise perfect. No b/w screens or property message found in a quick skim through (so while they may be there, they aren’t constant). Nice job peeps. :D

    December 24th, 2007 | 07:11

    Looks interesting.
And for those that think its emo, most emos just talk about suicide, for attention, rather than doing it.

    @ ‘emo’ posts

The title of this movie reeks of the ‘outcast/in crowd’ of these days, but doesn’t it go against ‘emo’ culture to smile or (dare i say it) smile!
And as this is a dark comedy, i fail to see the connection, movies such as ‘high fidelity’ and tv shows such as ‘Black books’ are dark comedies so this said, black books (due to the word black in it and books which is obviously some kind of non-conforming reference due to the rise in information technology) than ‘Black Books’ must be Emo.
Just because something seems to has similar words often paired with a particular stereotype doesn’t necessarily mean it is that stereotype.
The fact that any of you are sitting in front of a computer labeling this as ‘emo’ in a derogative manner must mean you are ‘jocks’ the sworn enemy of the ‘emo’. But wait… you’re sitting in front of a computer on a torrents website, do i sense some irony and a dash of hypocrisy?

I’m really looking forward to this movie, I always love a good dark comedy and I have a feeling it might get a little Beetle Juice-ish which could be a very good thing.
Can’t wait for it too finish downloading, good work, Blake.

Emo (pronounced /ˈiːmoʊ/) is a style of rock music which describes several independent variations of music with common stylistic roots. As such, use of the term has been the subject of much debate. In the mid-1980s, the term emo described a subgenre of hardcore punk which originated in the Washington, DC music scene. In later years, the term emocore, short for “emotional hardcore”, was also used to describe the emotional performances of bands in the Washington DC scene and some of the offshoot regional scenes such as Rites of Spring, Embrace, One Last Wish, Beefeater, Gray Matter, Fire Party, and later, Moss Icon. (In more recent years, the term “emotive hardcore” entered the lexicon to describe the period.)

Starting in the mid-1990s, the term emo began to refer to the indie scene that followed the influences of Fugazi, which itself was an offshoot of the first wave of emo. Bands including Sunny Day Real Estate and Texas Is the Reason had a more indie rock style of emo, more melodic and less chaotic. The so-called “indie emo” scene survived until the late 1990s, as many of the bands either disbanded or shifted to mainstream styles. As the remaining indie emo bands entered the mainstream, newer bands began to emulate the mainstream style. As a result, the term “emo” became a vaguely defined identifier rather than a specific genre of music.
Emo is also sometimes associated with a certain fashion. The term “emo” is sometimes stereotyped with tight jeans on males and females alike, long fringe (bangs) brushed to one side of the face or over one or both eyes, dyed black, straight hair, tight t-shirts which often bear the names of rock bands (or other designed shirts), studded belts, belt buckles, canvas sneakers or skate shoes or other black shoes (often old and beaten up) and thick, black horn-rimmed glasses.[14][15][16] Emo fashion has changed with time. Early trends included straight, unparted hair (similar to that of Romulans and Vulcans in Star Trek), tightly fitting sweaters, button-down shirts, and work jackets.[citation needed] This fashion has at times been characterized as a fad.[17]

In recent years, emo, in the popular media, has been associated with a stereotype that includes being emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angsty.[18][19][20] It is also associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide.[21][22]

On a side note The movie “Stargate the Ark of Truth” is out.. look for it on torrent sites or on Usenet… it is the conclusion of Stargate SG-1’s Ori arc, which began in “Avalon”.

Fun movie! Not emo at all. Screened at Sundance in 2006. Tom Waits has a supporting role, as does Will Arnett (Arrested Development); some tunes by Gogol Bordello (gypsy punk!?!). The picture is a bit blurry, but not really that bad. Sound is excellent. I liked it enough to buy it.
