This week-old (who cares?) release is quite a nice one to help time to tick as US shows start to slow down their momentum in the run up to Christmas. World War II continues to fascinate me, it’s the most important event of the past century after all. BBC makes great documentaries, but you can expect them to be a little biased in this one since they are British. Actually, WWI was the most important event of the past century, it marked the end of the reign of the old kings & emporers in europe (and the rest of the world) and changed the balance of power in the world for good.
4 major Empire’s cheased to exist after 1918 (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman, Russian) and the British empire started it’s inevitable decline from power and it marked the start of the US as an global power.

No offence but we don’t have anything to BE biased about. Regardless what you mouthy yanks spout to each other, over your mid-morning bagel with cream cheese and weight loss regimes, the British army and the EU alliance practically won WW2 on their own. As usual the Americans sat back till the last minute then decided to chop in and claim they “saved” us.

Bring your cameras because _ell will freeze over before a link for this interesting docu-dream download appears in the real world. Another usenet download, available for about 15 min before the linker cuts and runs. Since it isn’t on a torrent, or download link in the real world, chalk this one up with the Air Disaster downloads and a dozen others that never appeared. WW2 started because Polish communists massacred 5,000 German civilians in German areas given to Poland after WW1.
Britain and France promised to intervene on Poland’s behalf if Germany responded which was a certainty.
All three leaders Churchill, Roosevelt and Truman were Freemasons and well as John Sweeny senior BBC correspondent who suggested that Saddam could get blackmarket radioactive material to start a nuclear bomb project although the Israeli bombed his reactor back in the 80’s.

World at War remains the best single documentary series ever created on WW2. I recently just watched it again and remain impressed even though it was made in ‘75. Although, yes, it does have a British bias. All of the main nations involved and their sacrifices at home are featured at least twice in the 32, one hour episodes, except for the US.
Also, there is really only one episode covering the entire Pacific War, which is absurd. The largest and most complex naval battle sin history, and some of the most brutal, concentrated battles in modern times got just one hour, and only two were covered in depth. In depth being a brief description and maybe 5 minutes of footage.
