Wonderland Virtual Adultery And Cyberspace Love WS PDTV XviD-REMAX

I LOVE REMAX. There I said it. Its true. REMAX in my opinion brings out some of the most interesting rlses in the scene and tonight they release another one. This documentary is about the virtual world Second Life and the relationships that some people form in this world. A woman cheats on her husband with a man she meets in Second Life but keeps living at home, glued to her computer while her husband has to take care of their 4 children. Such lack of respect. Anyways, this is definitely worth the download and quality is very good as usual with REMAX.

A 37-year-old mother-of-four travels 5,000 miles, from suburban America to the UK, so she can meet the man with whom she has been having a virtual affair on a fantasy website that allows people to buy things they cannot afford in real life and acquire film-star looks. Despite fierce opposition from her husband of nine years, the woman is determined to discover whether a relationship formed in cyberspace can function in the real world.

Good job Remax, and Reeged. :) Is it by the BBC, or was it just shown on BBC? Well, entertaining enough subject so I’ll give it a watch. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see the real face behind a black-haired second-life vixen… and find it is probably an obese dumpy lady (or man!). :D ps. not a spoiler, I’m guessing – probably showing my arrogance of course. :P

what would be funny is when the guy meets the “sexy black haired vixen” and finds out she is really a middle aged fat tub of lard man that has a mullet and likes dressing up in womens clothing… and likes being strangled in the shower by immigrant workers, just like Rob Schnieder

To Quote: “Despite fierce opposition from her husband of nine years, the woman is determined to discover whether a relationship formed in cyberspace can function in the real world.”

She’s still married! 3 things from an observers point of view. Remember, it’s my opinion but I would like to see other posters view on this. Ok, here goes…

    1) Husband and/ or wife lost their “initial” love spark and somehow lost the interest in the furthering development of the relationship.

    2) Wife has developed an addiction to the internet (who hasn’t?) and maybe can not separate reality from fantasy.

    3) Computer is in the home with 2 undisciplined and irresponsible adults. This also includes lack of rules within the home.

    Whew.

    RF:

As I’m not ashamed to admit, I have fallen in love in a game. As I’m a tiny bit shamed to admit, it was World of Warcraft. Never intended for it to happen, nor did I imagine it even could, but our relationship is the best I have ever had, and no, she’s not, as that other fella said, “a middle aged fat tub of lard man,” and I do know that for a fact.

I’m not saying that’ll it work for everyone it happens to, as there are millions of liars on the web, but it can, and it has. I even know couples that met over the internet and are *married* today.

It helps that she lives in a neighboring country, of course.

I have no problem with people meeting a mate online through Warcraft, MySpace, eHarmony, or wherever. What I have a HUGE problem with is adultery and especially selfish people who have kids they’re neglecting and actually harming. People just have no respect for the concept of commitment.

Most people agree to keep SL seprated from RL but in some cases
its hard to do so. So not everyone on SL is going out meeting the people they get involved with in sl. For me being on SL myself..its mostly meeting people to make friends and having a good time. Everyone must admit, Its good to relax and get away from rl abit!!

I met my wife of 8 years (and still going strong) via random chat on ICQ. Having said that, I don’t really think the chances of finding your soul mate on the internet are that high.

Also, we were single, so there was no harm. I spend a lot of my time in front of the computer and on the net (part of my job as a web designer :p) but my family comes first, and nobody suffers from lack of my attention, and I don’t screw around.

The idea of condoning behavior that this show is about is absolutely shocking. Its almost as if it is accepted and a known fact that married couples will have affairs. Wake up – no good has ever come from having an affair.

You cant judge something you have never tried. Second life is about more than sex. you can use it to take your imagination to the limits and create things that we have no way of making in real life, as we are stuck at home with all our kids. The building and clothing design on there in its self is awesome. I do it when my kids are asleep or entertained so its about keeping it in perspective

To all naughty boys, meet me at Second Life :D

  30. Not Stupid
    January 31st, 2008 | 03:59

@#26… Shania, this is much more than keeping it in perspective. “I do it when my kids are asleep or entertained”, you mentioned nothing about a husband, so my guess is you must be a single mother. This is about some people who DO THIS WHILE BEING MARRIED. Keeping it perspective? SL is no different than any MMORPG on the internet. If a person is married, then the perspective should be to NOT be on the MMORPG’s to begin with. UNLESS, the couple share the interest equally. But as a reminder, this is purely my opinion.

This is blatant show (the couple in the show) of NO discipline (no rules established in the home) and TOTAL lack of responsibility (four (4) children?!?!? She’s greedy I think). It seems to us that the world is now coming about where the adults can no longer act as such, but instead to live the Toys R Us theme song! Don’t remember it? I will let someone else type it.

  34. Dad Burn
    January 31st, 2008 | 04:33

The mentality is exactly the same as those sad people who confuse TV soap operas with RL and write to the actors warning them that their spouse is talking about killing them or has a lover etc. It’s all about being so ashamed of your real life you’d rather live in a fantasy world. Some people claim to make real money outta Second life if they do maybe that’s an excuse to play the game but otherwise I can’t see the attraction.

It reminds me of the ’swingers’ parties back in the 70’s which in those days were portrayed as being sexy and daring but in reality were sad, flabby and middle aged types trying to live what they missed when they were young enough to be spontaneous but too scared to actually do it.

Can virtual sex be adultery? I dunno, it has the advantage of not causing pregnancy or bringing home STD’s but apart from the likely betrayal of trust, you’d have to have fairly ordinary real relationship if a bunch of pixels sparking up on a screen felt better than spearing the bearded clam in reality.

  35. Not Stupid
    January 31st, 2008 | 04:49

If I may add to your last paragraph #34 Dad Burn… It may not cause a pregnancy or cause STD’s, but what can eventually come out of it could be worse. Such as in the form of RL meetings or taking from what studies show from MMORPG’s and Porn (internet or otherwise), the attention from a couple’s growth becomes stagnant and eventually “dies”. During the case of either spouses “addiction”, the attention that each person SHOULD receive in RL is being transfered to the partner in the ORPG. In essence “stealing” from the one who is really entitled to it. Also communication breaks down and from here I am sure you all can see the degradation of a relationship structure.

Look if you come out of second life with a life partner then Im amazed but for most of us its an escape for fun not to replace real life.

You will make a lot of friends and have a lot of laughs. But I agree if it ends your marriage then it was prob on its way out anyway.

I agree with most of what Not Stupid has said. It’s not really about the ORPG, whether it be SL or something else. When your fantasy/fun starts effecting your real life, you’re developing a problem. By all means play SL or WoW or any number of those games, they are fun, just don’t let them effect your real life. Once it does, it’s either time to quit or it’s time to take a break. This woman is an example of an extreme case of letting a fantasy world become reality, she lost sight of what was truly important. Instead of investing her time in her REAL relationship with her husband, she invested it in a virtual one (Not saying this is wholly her fault by the by). By developing a sexual and (now) emotional relationship with another (in the virtual world or the real word), she has committed adultery. This is something that should not happen. She has been married for almost a decade with 4 kids? Her priorities got skewed. Now she’s flying out to see the man? That’s grounds for divorce, and why? Because she let a virtual fantasy effect her real life (again this is an extreme case, but not unheard of). Just sad, really.

Its easy to poke fun at Second Life as in real life it has its share of wierdos, and if people werent a little strange it wouldnt make very good telly. Second Life can be great fun and harmless as long as you keep a sense of perspective as with anything it is up to individuals what they get out of it. It can be a great vehicle for creativity – yes it may be fantasy but we all need to escape the drudgery occasionally.
