why would you use winzip or winrar when you can have 7-zip for free?

it can unpack pretty much anything, including zip and rar.
it cant archive as zip or rar, which doesnt matter since winzip and winrar both can unpack .tar.
oh and, it’s faster than the other two.

sorry to disagree, i’ve used both of them for a long time. and 7zip is slower when extracting multiple rar files, and that’s about the best use you give to this kind of software
This is yesterdays software. WinZip died a long time ago and has been successfully superceeded by WinRar. All Warez are done with WINRAR, so why does WINZIP bother?

@11 spot on. If you want to know what’s best… asked the hackers/rippers/etc. They’re using .rar because its accepted as better than .zip. As for 7zip, @8 gave us the perfect reason not to bother with it… it can’t archive as zip or rar. Why use a program that can’t archive in the format that 99.9999% of existing archives are in. Nutters!
Good to see the pro version here, but as others have mentioned… I’ve used WinRar for many years now, and am consistently and completely happy with it.
