Just some moments ago scene group CORE came with a brand new version of the immense popular archiver WinRAR. WinRAR is a very powerful archive manager. It can backup your data and reduce size of email attachments, decompress RAR, ZIP and other files downloaded from Internet and create new archives. WinRAR? WINRAR??!1!!! Sure… if you want a liftime trialversion or cracked stuff. It’s like picking BitComet/BitLord above uTorrent… you just shouldn’t be playing with the wrong goodies if you can have the best for free! I recommend ALZip (altools.net) and ZipGenius (zipgenius.it) above this WinRAR-thing… besides, those are totally free, do not need registering, they do not nag and don’t have ad-/spyware. Oh boy, don’t you just love uncomplicated, simple, cpu/ram friendly freeware?
The CORE patch is BS. Invalid authenticity verification. Also, beware of the fake “corporate editions” floating around.

I would expect that there has been tampering with the release if there is a problem, CORE are one of the oldest and most respected scene groups.

I have WinRAR v3,30 and it works fine for me. Do I really need to update? is there anything new which I would be missing out on?

this is a classic, if you wanna use free archivers, then use it, but don’t write this bullshits, also you forgot 7zip which is the best freeware archiver

7-zip is a great alternative for anyone who just wants a quick, simple old fashioned program
This is among the programs I could consider paying for, I’ve been using it for so long now. If it would just get 7-zip compression too, it would be great. I realize 7-zip works as an app too, but I like many of WinRAR’s features and 7-zip is a bit bare-bone.
So i guess that’s a “no” for any new, huge, must have features for this version
It’s about time they released it, I was getting annoyed with all the beta releases.

I checked rarlabs.com but couldn’t find any info on new version. So what is actually new in 3.7 over 3.51 that I’m using? Or does anyone have a link to list of new features? Thanks

im still using winrar 2.4
no prob, and i use it to unpack 10-15gb of stuff everyday.
there is only ONE patch that can fix this and allow authenticity verification to work, along with a couple of other very usefull options, which is why i actually use a cracked version even though i own a valid key.
the patcher you want is called WinRAR Cracker Edition patch by MaRKuS TH-DJM, (just dont use the edit locked archives options in this latest version and it will work fine, to write genuine authenticity verification you must use one of the keys from the patcher and have it un-blacklist it)
