While I use MSCONFIG, there are programs that seem to just have a name and be related to nothing, as well as those that you just can’t seem to guess who it belong to.

The best autostart program that checks everything!!!!!!!!!!!!! i mean everything!!! and you need a lot of knowledge about certain programs as you guys alread said it is “autoruns” by system internals…but you should no some stuff about active x controls and modules..

Anyway, autoruns is the one you want. autorunsc is the command line version.

Hijackthis is much better in my opinion.

As for msconfig i agree with number 5, i never use it, i just go into the registry myself and delete the key as its not hard to look in

Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion

in the

HKCU
HKLM
HKU

folders.
