WinMPG Video Convert v6.8-TE
Well, I must be honest, if this piece of software is anything like their webpage, and their English skills, it will be pretty bloody poor. But anyway, WinMPG is a video conversion software that will, they say, convert just about any format to another format. Very nice! Except I don’t know if it will really do all it says, so approach this with caution! (I can’t even find a screenshot on their webpage of the program doing anything other than showing the main interface.)

This soft is crap, use VirtualDub ( http://www.virtualdub.org/ ) instead. It’s what I use: it’s free and it works!
heh I dont think this could be worth it AT ALL.
Those kind of programs all suck.
If your not using MeGui or, my favorite for easy yet feature filled conversion software, StaxRip… well its your own damn fault than :-p
My x264 encodes with StaxRip are beyond comparisson to anything this thing will ever produce…
lol what a coincidence on the name
and yeah, virtualdub is decent, but sorry, its just outdated.
Try StaxRip, you wont be dissapointed. (i hope :-p)
dude, say what you say but i still use Nero. I find it convenient for encoding onto my ipod. other stuff i have that i sometimes use is the magic video converter v8 and the features-heavy media coder (still on version 0.6)
@ duhhhhh
> yeah, virtualdub is decent, but sorry, its just outdated
you might want to check the applications folder of StaxRip (StaxRip uses Virtualdub - or to be exact a slightly modified Version).
StaxRip has probably the more userfriendly front-end but if you know how what you are doing you don’t need this “remote controll” for Virtualdub ..
VirtualDubMod is even better version of VirtualDub, that’s what I use.
VirtualDub is only used for extracting AC3 sound from the to-be-encoded video, if you are (like I allways do) encode to x264. I hardly ever encode to xvid anymore, but even if I do, I would choose to do it over StaxRip by now. (I now virtualdub and virtualdun mod pretty well from the past, dont worry)
And ofcourse, you could leave StaxRip out of the equasion, and write your own comand lines for BeSweet, x264 and mp4mux.. (or the equivalent client for the format you want to encode to), but why would you? lol
StaxRip for me is the best program because if I want to, I CAN do whatever I want to the encoding, and if I just want something done fast and easy, I can just use a preset and start encoding after about 5 clicks.
Ofcourse, if you only plan on encoding to xvid or something like that, shure… you can use virtualdub(mod), but agian… why would you? :-p
But hey, this is a topic where everyone has his favorites and his “NoNo’s”. I think StaxRip is perfect for anyone, beginner or pro, because its userfriendly and intuative, yet feature filled if you want it to be. It downloads all teh components you need (the muxer, codecs, audio encoder etc) for you automaticly, so theres no need to download and install 5 programs seperatly before you can start encoding. And especially if you want to encode to x264, this is, appart from MeGui, the only advisable GUI out there.
Well as you see, I am pretty much set on x264 codec. Thats why I dont have any use for virtualdub, atleast encoding wise.
StaxRip uses it, or rather commands it, to extract audio from a video. I use it to join multiple Avi’s into one avi in direct stream mode… thats it.
Again, if you encode to xvid or something, that picture changes ofcourse.
mVs has released WRONG TURN 2 where are homies of rls update man….
why this site is so slow
Someone from RLSlog criticising another website for their use of english is the absolute final definition of irony. And a great laugh.
Btw, x264 sucks donkey balls. It’s only appeal is for nerds who feel the need to stroke their e-penis and claim to the world how 1337 they are. The masses have spoken for months, they don’t want it, get a clue.

> VirtualDub is only used for ..
to quote StaxRip “VirtualDubMod is used for tasks like encoding, muxing, demuxing and cutting”, and if you are able to apply filters like deinterlacing, perspective adjustments (e.g. to fix those screeners with an odd angle), sharpen .. within StaxRip those are most likly handled by VD also ..
> Well as you see, I am pretty much set on x264 codec. Thats why I dont have any use for virtualdub
why wouldn’t you be able to use h.264 with virtualdub? Install your codec properly and it will be avalable in the “video -> compression..” menue.
Don’t get me wrong, StaxRip is probably the easier way to transcode instead of using the apps it controlls directly, but that doesn’t mean VirtualDub is in any way outdated (since with most transcoding-frontends like StaxRip, GordianKnot .. VD still works it’s magic in the background)
Still a Virtualdub man myself.Old but still the best.Wrong turn 2 mvs nuked. The Repack is out, wait for it.

I just finished watching WRONG TURN 2. Not bad. Some good kills and the Col. kicks ass.
VirtualDub does not support RealMedia, QuickTime, WMV movies! Only works with MPEG4! I use Total Video Converter! Converts almost everything!
no one’s a fan of TVC total video converter here??
Wianvi 8.0 is the best for me.
H.264 is not worth the conversion time. I use XVID and AGK is easy and does it all.
use AutoGK, far easier, and very quick to use…well from DVD to Xvid anyway
well - all softwares have their own drawbacks !
Virtualdubmod Does not allow a Fixed Filesize - its not good for audio encoding.
AutoGK does not have Brightness control - no preview for Cropping. Does not support many formats. Cannot resize the Video to any thing you want. And some times Does what it likes and not according to settings you give.
Total Video converter also does not have a Fixed file size - its a single pass encoder, so the quality will not be as good as AutoGK at same file size. No brightness control. and TVC is totally single threaded!
These are just examples - they have a lot more drawbacks!
I am just waiting for the perfect software for encoding! an i have waited for a few years now - and now i am loosing hope.
why isn’t anyone flaming my love for nero
Ok, The rage;
You’re a very bad person for using Nero. Shame on you.
Will give it a try, lets not flame it before testing it, folks.
Off-topic: I think user from comment number 13 should be banned.
I’m sorry for all you guys critisizing without trying but this piece of software is one of the best I tried and not at all like “all those kind of programs that all suck”
it’s perfect for doing what it’s meant to do : easily convert one format to another.
I used it to convert .mov movie trailers into xvid and it was fast and accurate.
now if you want to mux, demux, add multiple tracks or whatever, then go on with wirtualdub but it’s not for the same use.
I stopped using it because of troubles with recent quicktime versions so now i’m using Mediacoder which is really good and free
