    @ Reanimator

I’ve tested it, works fine. You can do normal read-write operations like with usual drive…

i used it yesterday and became disappointed by the results. it gave me a whopping 32gb virtual drive but the app crashed on me while extracting nfsps onto it, i guess my 1gb ram pc ran out of virtual memory. i got an error c++ basic something. i tried the rar mount feature and it took hella long to mount again mounting nfsps archive rars……..its a nice app but it just did not do the job for me hence uninstall :-(

Don’t see how this is useful…unless you are really lazy and can’t be arsed to unrar the packed releases..
Which isn’t really a problem if you’re on usenet because there are apps that unrar everything automatically for you.

Evan, why would you care if you posted first? What are you 12 years old? Quit being a douchebag.

Come on where’s the auto-ban for evan? I also agree with #8, seems like its just for lazy people who can’t wait an extra minute to unpack it.

technically no mounting ocuurs with a rar/zip archive. all it does is make it as so you can enter into the rar/zip achive as it were a folder and drag/drop/copy out files. all it does is list the contents of the archive internally and then make it so the program can ‘explore’ through the archive. KDE on linux does this and it is a cool feature. I think it could also be integrated into Windows Explorer or even the BeOS tracker with relative ease. On BeOS its strength is compatibility with archives and filesystems…

that was a waste of time. i tried to mount an avi file and play it from the new drive and the program froze up.

if you are interested in watching vids without unpacking here is a link to the player i use. all you need is the first part. as long as you can get the other parts before it needs them it will play. it is based on the Mplayer. even works with passwords and double packed rar files.

You can already do most of this with Total Commander. It doesn’t let the system see archives as folders, but you can access them that way in TC itself. Copy files to/from them, delete files, etc. With the right plugins, it will even let you open ISO files (but not mount them). Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with multi-volume archives, but I usually unpack those anyway.

    FYI
I downloaded from uploading.com which apparently tried to send me a trojan right after the file itself according to Avast. Tried again from BestSharing.com without warning from Avast.

  33. Ron
    November 16th, 2007 | 03:56

Following my previous post Avast detects a trojan in the rar itself, irrespective of the download site.

i dunno about this version, but i have v2.1.1 installed, and the program does wut is advertised.

i experimented with this program and a dreamcast emulator. i zipped up a game and tried to play it with the emulator. it DOES work, but the speed is choppy.

has anyone tried this? is it slow because the game is compressed? if this is the case, i cant imagine how slow installing a pc game when the image is compressed.
