Windows Vista only on 39% of new PCs
Bill Gates’ keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show 2008 revealed a rather startling statistic with regards to the sales and acceptance performance of Windows Vista. Gates told the audience that Windows Vista has sold more than 100 million copies since the operating system’s launch in January 2007. When comparing pure numbers against Windows XP, which sold only 89 million copies in its first year, Windows Vista appears to be a hit – but looking at the big picture sheds a different sort of light on the matter.
With the PC market at nearly twice the size today as it was in 2001, InformationWeek surmises that Windows Vista captured around 39 percent of the new PC market in its first year, while Windows XP managed to grab 67 percent of the new PC market during its initial period. The rather lukewarm response to Windows Vista must be troubling for Microsoft. In response to customers with cold feet on the new OS, Dell in April 2007 brought back the option for its customers to choose Windows XP. Microsoft then took things another step further by allowing OEMs to downgrade Windows Vista Business and Ultimate installations to Windows XP.

Vista sux ballz
Long live leopard
Vista sucks! I’m not planning on using it till the 2nd SP is release for it. Even then I will use it as a secondary OS, I prefer XP.
My brand new computer loves vista !
Upgrade people.
I have just put vista on my pc. I tried it for a bit when it was first released and thought it was crap but now i quite like it. Still get a lot of probs with it and xp is what i need to use for my ‘work’ but i do like vista a lot now. We will all be using it sooner or later, xp will go the same way as M.E, 98, 95. When xp was released, i hated it and was adamant i would not change from M.E………and here we are again
I had a lot of problems with Vista and couldn’t believe why Microsoft would release a product that only looks nice… But I installed Service Pack 1 RC (=not the official one, which hasn’t come out yet, but the testing version Microsoft offers) and all problems went away… for now anyway!
Plus, it slightly increases performance…
I recommend it to all Vista users who have issues
i have one laptop with vista (new) and an old laptop with XP. I use the XP laptop 95% of the time. Don’t like vista at the moment. Uses too many resources and I can’t get utorrent to work in it as well as PeerGuardian 2. XP is by far the BEST operating system of the two
There is not much in vista for end user….
New APIs – yes.
New Driver KDD stuff – yes…
Some Virualization support – yes…
New looks – yes.
Native IPV6 – yes.
DirectX sound Removed
Something useful for end user – no. I think combine this with 4.5Gb kernel macrokernel, and been 20% slower than XP – I could see why people waiting. Not to mention good luck installing SAP frontend or IDES on it. UAC kills a lot of my old apps.
Clearly – developed in India!
Vista just ruins your computer. Why bother?
I feel bad for those 39%
That just means that the 39% didnt know what they where buying and probably only use it for solitaire anyway.
XP \,,/
Personally i’ve been running Vista since Feb 2007 as long as you have a computer that is upto date and of a high spec its an amazing OS i’ve not had one problem to date that wasn’t solved quickly and cheaply. You’ll always get people sticking to what they know until they are forced to use something new the fact that not all new PCs aren’t installed with Vista is no great surprise since people are still using XP in work day to day. People are just content with what they know who can blame them.
who needs a bugy vista.when xp works exactly how you want.and is faster, and dx10 is a waste of time, theres no gfx card that can run it properly yet,
vista on my 2.4ghz dual processor, 8600GT graphics, 2GB ram runs SLOW! i mean, maybe i’m just used to fast pc’s but how it be so slow…although, taking away areo and all that visual crap, it runs much more smoothly…
let’s go back to the stone age ppl
Use this method to switch between XP and Vista. It works and you can select either system at boot.
http://lifehacker.com/software/top/windows-vista-beta–how-to-dualboot-windows-xp-and-windows-vista-179906.php
Yes, you CAN have both worlds.
upgraded back to XP… i’m not exactly bleeding edge on hardware, but 60fps on XP turned into 9ish with vista. all my games were totally borked. lame.
Please don’t hit us with this crap Microsoft not rlsog lol.
Please provide stats for preinstall vista computer units and stop trying to sell us down the line.Thank god thank windows xp i have home version will be around a while yet.Ps keep cracking pc games that run on crappy vista to xp the scene groups.
Only newbies use vista. Why use something that is slow as hell. Even on the newest geewiz hardware it blows people. Wake up lamers. Stick with XP and you will be happy. Its the newest greatest. Vista is lame as hell! You don’t need vista for anything other than a new shiny frisbee!
The reason 39% of users have Vista on new PC’s is….YOU HAVE NO CHOICE… besides dell how many other company’s will install XP or Ubuntu and most people use the default which is currently Vista, I think everyone should take some time and read the EULA agreement and take the offer of asking for a refund from the supplier (if you can, and good luck) for vista. at least until they fix the compatibility issue vista has with EVERYTHING. I know it will be the operating system I use in the future but god help me learn to use Ubuntu.
Ok some of you still want to try Vista? I understand. Here is how you do it easily! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVbf9tOGwno
running xp pro sp3 cr and i am doing fine. had vista home basic on my laptop, but it was rather sh**.
Prefer speed.
I don’t know what you are all doing to your PC’s to make them go as slow as you’ve described.
Vista works completely fine, i upgraded a few months back, and the only thing i’ve had that doesn’t work on it was Sygate Firewall, which i no longer need.
I have quite a high spec on my PC (2GB RAM, AMD 5200 X2 etc etc) and it runs just as fast as XP Pro did.
uTorrent, PG2, and everything works fine.
XP was just like this when it came out, and look at you all now…
can somebody get me the below software pls. I would thank you a trillion times.
http://vma.si/vma/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=39
god bless the p2p.
cheers!!!
I upgraded my pc to vista ultimate almost a few months after it was released. I was actually one of the few who bought, downloaded, and installed it completely over the internet using their download version they used to offer for about $120 for the product license (i think they discontinued that service since nobody used it)
I had problems until they got the update service and compatibility issues ironed out awhile ago. Vista is now fully dependable. All the schools and businesses are now starting to run Vista OS and are already seeing the benefits.
I think Vista has it’s potential with SP1 coming out soon, but I honestly don’t think I will make the switch.
But in no way does that mean I’d support any Mac operating system.
Hmmm!! Everytime Rslog DARE post something to do with LEOPARD or macs in general PC users say its Lame..
And now look what they are saying about their own OS!!!!
RLSLog PLEASE READ:
A few words of *constructive* advice about your news posts.
First, an assessment of this one:
1. I’m sure Bill Gates’s speech was the keynote, but *nowhere* in the Newsweek article does it say so. So why add the word keynote as it may not be correct.
2. “With the PC market at nearly twice the size today as it was in 2001, InformationWeek surmises…” – No, they didn’t surmise it with that in mind. They said Vista in 2008 sold 10% more than XP in 2001. That’s nothing to do with XP vs Vista today.
3. “When comparing pure numbers against Windows XP, which sold only 89 million copies in its first year, Windows Vista appears to be a hit…” – Ah no, see above. 10% higher is not a comparative “hit”. The article actually said, “And Vista, in terms of units shipped, only MARIGNALLY outperformed first year sales of Windows XP…” (emphasis added)
Etc…
My point is, please either quote the article directly, or make sure your article say the same thing, otherwise it’s not exactly news, right?
Thanks for the link to the Newsweek article, which I read, because it, “sheds a different sort of light on the matter.”
Sorry, but someone’s gotta pick up on these things. Basically if you don’t supply a proper link to a source article, I for one am not going to read yours, I’d rather look at real news, unless you improve the way you present it. Apologies again for being harsh, but there’s ways to do news and ways not to.
Cheers
i folded last weekend. ill be installing vista in a few days on my new machine, if nothing comes DOA that is…
I’ll still be running XP, and thanks to that dual boot link, it will be on the new computer too. Development wise, I had to upgrade to stay ahead of the curve. For casual users, who cares?
Speaking of odd commentary, Newsweek have done it as well.. at the top of their article is:
“Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system is proving far less popular with new PC buyers than Windows XP did during XP’s first year on the market, …”
Then, just 5 paragraphs later:
“… first year Vista unit sales have exceeded first year XP unit sales by little more than 10%.”
For gods sake, I may as well read the fud on slashdot..
LOL! Maybe it’s 39% in the USA but worldwide it would be far lesser than that say 15%.
@Martin
I couldn’t see your post’s pic in opera/iexplorer.
I have vista and unless ur an idiot or have a cr@p system then it wont be good!
I can do everything i could with XP and MORE (IE DX10 Games!)
Lepord is so crap its not even worth comparing! u can do fOOk all with a mac execpt do pretty pictures!
Please people tell me what is so bad about vista?
Get a good system instead of the 5 year old shed u use and then comment!
And agree with the comment regarding new comps with vista with hardly any RAM, thats a manufactuer problem not a vista one!
In 3 years XP will be like windows 98
Come on people get with the times!
am running vista x64 ulti for a bunch of days now.. to be honest.. it doesnt feel as crap as people say it does
the only big downside for me.. is the same what i have with any OS change.. you need to find new drivers and reinstall tons of sh1te
i could have picked x32.. but if im gonna test something new i might as well take it one step further
still have my XP 32 bit on dual boot just in case tho ^^
@6. Jon. What are you talking about, i use Vista 64bit, and i can run utorrent, and peerguardian2 without problems. hell, i can even use daemon tools 32bits
. Vista runs fine on my machine(4 cores @ 3ghz, 4gig ram, 1,5tb hdd space etc
)
The only programs i have trouble with are really old programs that use 16bit installers.
no idea why #6 didnt get utorrent to work.. but it runs normally here.. eventho its 32bit
I have been using 64bit Vista ultimate for about 6 months without any problems !! You can run utorrent and peerguardian 2 so dont know what that bloke is on about he must be a right N00B !!
I have started to have problems with PUNKBUSTER though when trying to play COD4 and they are vista related but all in all Vista is really good if you have got a new ish comp with at least 2gb of ram !!
lol at all the bandwagon jumpers saying that vista sucks even before they try it…..
i use vista business, never had a problem, much better than XP when it comes to memory management.
highly recommended
I’m a person who uses Vista and thinks it rocks.
oh hang on, I have another pc here with XP so I think that rocks too.
I think that about wraps up this thread.
Ubuntu + Arch = woot
agree with the majority of posts that state you need the latest system and 2gb+ of ram to get any benefit from vista and not have it run like a dead horse. Dont see why all the vista users are jumping to the defensive though its only an os take that away and your’e doing the same that everyone else does with a computer, downloading torrents if your’e on this site and surfing the net etc etc, you dont need vista to do that, and i think thats the whole point. At the moment a good majority of end users dont feel the need to upgrade thats to say no need to get upset vista guys no ones right or wrong. You have a computer to do specific tasks if your computer is running fine with xp leave it alone until your’e forced to change, once again the consumer is left playing catch up with the latest technology and I think in this instance a great many of said ‘balls i dont need to upgrade yet’ if you buy a new system with vista make sure its powerful enough and you have enough memory simple…
I have Vista Ultimate on my ASUS G2-B2 laptop with 3g of RAM and 2.40g cpu and I love it. I don’t see why people hate vista so much. If there are problems all you have to do look for solutions online. Had only one problem so far which was trying to install 3.5 framework (installing Visual Studio 2008) and looked online and found the solution and im happy with Vista so far….
XP rules any hardcore work i do (This Does Not Include Jerking Off) I use XP.To be honest i aint seen much of vista but when i heard about the software troubles i bought my system with XP as its just so dam friendly.Microsoft should scrap vista altogether and continue to tweak and support XP until they can bring out something that doesent mess everything up.Im back to my hardcore work guys take it easy.
I have problems with FireFox running under Vista 64! The first few days after I installed worked fine but after a while the pages were loading slower and slower.. I needed to go back with IE7! LOL! I think there are some bugs with 2.0.0.11 in Vista64!
Both Vista and Leopard are worst products of 2007. If you have Winblows XP just wait for SP3 and keep using it till Misosoft Releases Vista SP2.
Cheers.
I am also a owner of Vista, before i got it I tought its crap and there is no point of upgrading or anything. But now im in loved with Vista. It runs prefectly fine on my machine what is like 4 years old. Amd Athlon Xp 2600+ @ 2.15ghz ; Ati Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb Overclocked ; 1.5 Gb DDR Ram @ 196mhz.
I had some problems updateing my Catalyst driver but that’s becouse my gfx sucks also. That was the only problem, everything else is working very well. I got Vista Ultimate SP 1. Infact my computer doesn’t crash so much like it did with XP pro. I see “Not Responding” errors very rare and it doesn’t lock up anymore like it did with XP. So get Vista, you know that you have to get in sometime.
I agree that Vista ain’t as good as Windows XP.
It might be designed to be better but like a lot of people say.. It’s not..
Games and vista dont mix, after 3-4 hours of intense raiding with my guild in wow i get a blue screen, asked my graphic company, Geforce what happende and they say that Geforce dont support vist fully yet, and that was the death pounch for vista on my new laptop.
now i got xp and it rocks!
#52
blue screen doesnt automatically mean its your gfx card acting up
With 4Gb of ram an amd6000 its way quicker than XP with amd x2 3200 and 2gb, times change get over it.
39% is actually higher than I would have imagined.
NEVER had a problem with Vista in any way at all.
The main problem with VISTA is its software incompatibilities. Unless it will be remedied by service packs, i’ll still sleep w/ my XP.
Vista is the best, you have to try it to be confident in using it, coupled with Service Pack 1 and a few manual updates, nothing beats it, its faster then Windows XP w/ Service Pack 3 in my honest opinion.
I would never think about Dual Booting, theres only one operating system, that is Vista (Home Premium to be exact), I can’t wait for Microsoft to bring out the next Windows Operating System, I can’t wait to give them my hard earned money, Microsoft FTW!
BTW, no sarcasm, I’m being serious.
@30, “NotAnyCompany’sFanboy” & @50, “vista”:
C’mon guys, unstable XP? You just don’t know how to treat it right… See my uptime, and then say it’s unstable.
http://i18.tinypic.com/8f5cx8z.png
Oh, btw, I have some 70 games on it, big and small, I have some 40 apps, and I use the computer at least 4 hrs a day, plus it’s always on, d/l’ing and/or rendering stuff…
As for Vista, I am yet to achieve more than a day without errors, when using the computer to the full, also, keep in mind that some apps and drivers just wont work on it, and there are no workarounds…
Vista will either mature enough to be usable, or stay Win ME 2. Perhaps I would be happier with Win 2k8 Server…
Forgot to mention, my WINDOWS folder was created on Friday, February 3rd 2006, 2:55:29 PM. Maybe you’d like a screenshot of that as well?
I got with Vista with a new computer, and have personally found it to be a very stable OS, there is the odd issue now and again, but its easily solved. This DRM hype is overblown, my OS is genuine but nearly every piece of software/game I’ve installed is pirated, and I’ve had no issues.
I remember when I got my first machine with Win 98, that was so bad, ME was the same, so many crashes and lockups, XP was a good OS but even that had problems at the beginning, I guess everybody has forgotten
Yup I agree 100% with all of you…Vista sucks. End of story
No XP was never as bad as vista in requirements. I still install Xp on 1000MHZ with 256MB ram and its runs pretty darn good. Its no gammer but for people surfing or working with documents it works well. Try that with Vista!!! LOL! And people saying get with the times..Lets all dump our perfectly good PC in the earth just because we want something shiny bloated and new and want microsoft to get richer..Uh yeah ok. People you bought and paid for your Vista thats why you love it. I used the pirated version for months and it just sucks. Takes 10X longer to do the same things I could do on XP. Not the speed just the stupid ass layout. And no we won’t all be on Vista one day. Did everyone get on Windows ME one day?/…no we skipped it..Sorry but this is another skipper. I feel bad for those of you that paid hundrereds for this useless OS or thousands for a new computer just to run this. You are the people who care less about this earth and are microsoft fanboys. I like microsoft somewhat but this crap they put out and thats what vista is needs to lay low till we can skip it for actually something newer and better. This just isn’t it.
Xp Black Edition info.
http://forum.00de.de/archive/new-software/xp-black-edition-usa-retail-final-dvd-t-40968.html
My Vista when idle uses just 532MB of RAM, but with Ural Tournament 3 running, it goes up to 1.8GB, not bad when you think about it.
Hmm.. 39%?? Highly doubt that.
Everyone I know who has bought a new PC/notebook with Vista installed has since “upgraded” to XP and not looked back
I was a user of W2K, and moved to XP only because some games drop compatibility with W2000. I see no reason to use XP, Windows 2000 is much more stable than XP, and I dont need that girly aestetic. After that time using XP, I have learn to like it somehow (even is patetic implementation of multitasking). I guest in a few years I will upgrade to a 64 bits Windows, maybe Vista 64. I have already test XP65 (free download) and it seems to work, but I see no reason to have use daily a “alfa” OS. Microsoft don’t pay me to beta test his software. I may install Vista64 soon to test it. And I will put a Commodore64 background
“Someone Noone” I’m impressed by your up time but downloading and rendering isn’t what counts but the number of things you install and reinstall is what counts(modification in the registry and file system, etc…). I can say that from the uptime of a friend of mine who never turned off or even moved his laptop and also from the PCs at my university.
“The one” You can’t just say “Vista sucks. End of story”!!!. Maybe it sucks in your machine because it’s slow and therefore you can’t upgrade. Look, the whole problem appeared from people who got old slow PCs and they tried to upgrade and that didn’t work of course. Windows XP isn’t as heavy on machines as Vista. In’ vista you need much more ram for the OS to work where in XP 512mb is ok and 1gb is perfect and by the way a friend of mine has a 256mb ram laptop and it’s slow as hell and I tired with it XP pro, HE, and MCE and it didn’t change at all even though he only use the thing to surf the net and write using Word 2003. Since Vista is meant to be used for at least 4 other years it was developed to run on faster machines.
I can’t say that Vista is perfect but it’s difently better than XP. In fact I remember that I had to return a motorola modem because it wasn’t compatible (it was made 2 years before Vista is released).
Don’t expect Vista to support all previous hardware and that’s why MS released the Upgrade Advicer program or whatever it was named.
Oh joy, another thread filled with ignorant people who think Vista’s problems can be fixed with an extra stick of ram
39% marketshare isn’t hard when you have the monopoly and major chains adopt it just because it’s new and expect customers to be stupid enough to want it
Well if this makes you feel better I never paid for any of MS products except once when Windows Media Center came preinstalled and I agree with you about the monoply thing where right now for me and millions of other users there is no other alternative but XP or Vista. And if you have a good machine then you would probably choose Vista.
@72, “NotAnyCompany’sFanboy”:
The uptime wasn’t meant to impress, it was meant to demonstrate… Anyway, you should know that I have generated some 124 GB of downstream traffic in the last three months, say 200 MB surfing, some 16 GB movies, 600 MB music and the rest 0-day apps and games. Of all the apps and games i d/l’ed, I have tried (installed and uninstalled) all the games and at least 80% of the apps. Hundreds! Probably 3-4 a day, every day, you do the math. Why am I such an idiot? I dunno, I like to know and possess the best tools available for every possible task. The result? My machine takes exactly 157 seconds to fully boot up (used a stopwatch). Well, it took that long some 45 days ago… Now it probably would need even more time. But when it finishes, it works absolutely flawlessly for as long as there is electricity in the powelines.
I may be insufficiently knowledgeable to do this with Vista, but I just couldn’t make it work that well. In fact, not nearly that well. It is that simple.
In the following year, we will find out what is the best solution… Maybe Vista will get fixed up. Maybe Win 2k8 will prove a better choice. Or maybe, we will keep using XP for as long as the market allows us. Right now, Vista is the inferior OS, and in my book is a downgrade by default.
@52
If you’ve been playing WOW for 3-4 hours straight a blue screen is probably good for you.
The problem is that somewhere along the way, Microsoft forgot what a computer OS is supposed to be. Either that, or they intentionally perverted it to serve their own ends.
An OS is supposed to be an interface between the user and the hardware and provide a stable framework for running software. It’s supposed to serve the hardware it’s installed on. A proper OS is like a warehouse manager who keeps things running smoothly.
Microsoft thinks the OS should be the center of attention and that the hardware and software should serve the OS. Windows, especially Vista, is like a 400 pound tyrant sitting on a throne telling you what does and doesn’t measure up to its expectations.
PEOPLE don’t actually need a new OS, MICROSOFT needs a new OS. Their entire business model depends on selling people new versions of what they already have. Software doesn’t have an expiration date on it. Selling a new version when it actually offers significant improvement over previous versions is one thing. Selling a new version simply because your company can’t come up with anything else new that people will want to buy is something else.
It’s called “Planned obsolescence” and it’s an underhanded thing to base a business on.

Only real “newbies” stick with one OS. I have Windows XP + Windows Vista + Mac OS X 10.5.1(hacked) on a single 500GB HDD. 3 Partitions + 1 extra one just in case I want to install Ubuntu with GRUB.
What’s the definition of ‘better’?
For me ‘better’ means faster, with more features, more stable etc.
Someone please, for the love of god, show me exactly how Vista is better than XP.
Sure, it does pretty much what XP can do. But a lot slower.
Sure, it runs pretty much the same software, except some things that work on XP won’t work on Vista.
Drivers? Don’t get me started on that…
Vista’s main selling point is the eye-candy, something that most serious users don’t give a crap about.
I remember Microsoft’s promises about groundbreaking features in Vista that never made it (like WinFS) despite the enormous development period.
Unfortunately XP is to Vista like Windows 2000 was to Windows Me.
My main rig runs XP and is on 24/7, last I checked the uptime was almost 2 months. I don’t even remember the last time my PC crashed on me, I only reboot for the occasional driver update.
Microsoft hasn’t released a groundbreaking O/S since Windows 2000 (which in my not so humble opinion remains the best Windows release ever, it’s like Windows XP without the eye candy and twice the speed)
Ofcourse, gamers will be forced to upgrade (I’m a gamer too, so I know I’ll have to bite the bullet someday).
Who knows, maybe after SP2 Vista will become as pleasant to use as XP is today.
just installed vista AGAIN the other day and was amazed how much it has improved its unreal now no problems at all yet, tried it a few months back and it was awful cant believe how well it works now and i was a vista hater i have installed the service pack 1 R1 seems to have done something good its a lot smother now,the only thing that held me back before was my games but now they work even better than they did on xp for some reason only thing i would say is that 1 gig of ram is really not enough thats all i have for now,but it runs it good enough dont know where all these people are getting the crap saying that its no good, one thing tho i would not pay a penny for it LOL
I’ve had Vista since it’s pre-release days, and got the public version as soon as it came out. It’s without a doubt the most stable, secure version of windows thats ever been released. With XP I was always seeing some spyware/virus infection or having some new app I was testing run off and hijack my browser or take over the context menu. Always getting blue screens which was the most annoying aspect of XP next to the reinstalls.
Since getting rid of XP I’ve seen zero spyware or virus infections. I mean 0. No application is ever able to launch without permission and I haven’t had a single browser hijack. No blue screens and no reinstalls. The combined security and stability of Vista and IE7 has taken away every problem I ever had with windows. I never thought I’d be one of the ones supporting a Microsoft OS by saying how good it is, but here I am. Vista works and it works well, very well.
People who aren’t switching because thier PC won’t cut it hardware wise are just putting off the inevitable. Sooner or later they will have to upgrade to a better PC, Vista isn’t going to be dropped and the next generation of OS and games will need even more computer resources.
People who aren’t switching because of the bad rep Vista has need to realize that Vista bashing is the same as XP bashing. Everyone bashed XP but now 99 percent of those who bashed XP are running it and bashing Vista.
Ninety nine percent of whats out there negatively about Vista is either urban legend or misinformation based on old beta copies of Vista. The list of Vista certified hardware is massive and growing. It’s very easy to look for a Vista Certified logo before you buy a webcam or a printer. Not that everything needs to be Vista ceritifed. I ran Vista on my old PC (a P4 3ghz HT with 2 gigs of ram, 500 gig hdd and geforce 6800) and Vista worked great. My old webcam, printer, skype phone, external hdd and everything else worked just fine. When I built my new PC last year I just took the simple step of making sure that everything I bought was Vista Certified and the build went without a hitch. The link below is the official Vista compatibility list from Microsoft (replace the hxxp with http)
hxxp://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/Default.aspx
That 39% of Vista, is all of those Vista only PC’s and laptops. And rarely someone put Vista to try DX10, with even dual boot they use 97% XP.
@Dean
yeh and that is the right story. i put a old harddisk in my pc(IDE) with vista (dual boot xp pro)and i can use it without that stupid settings for master or slave and on xp pro he didnt
saw the harddisk
only because everyone heard/read bad comments they say vista is crap. when vista sp1 comes out everybody gonna use it, same when xp sp1 came out.
take the same hardware and compare osx leopard vs vista and you can immediately tell the difference in the quality apple has put into their os. everything runs soo smooth with no hickups. wish apple would make it x86 compatible.
LMAO @ some of the comments on here that are negative about Vista. I won’t say anything else because I’d be wasting my time. It’s just funny how naive some people are. Maybe they should only be downloading pirated movies and not pirated operating systems?
“Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List
The Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List is currently only compatible with Internet Explorer 6 and above. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
IT’S A LIST! A FÜCKING LIST! I cannot believe they’ve done this…
Why would a simple list of items require IE to be viewed…
Micro$uck never ceases to amaze me…
Why anyone would upgrade to Vista is a mystery to me. I’m still running Windows 95 and it’s super fast. I tried Windows 98 last year but it really bogged down my system and I couldn’t play SimCity 2000 anymore for some reason.
I was tempted to try XP when that came out, but people kept saying XP was an acronym for “Xtra Problems”, so for me it’s still Windows 95, thank you very much!
If you only like the looks of vista and prefer to use xp google Vista Transformation Pack. you will be able to make xp look like vista
TLDR.
Anyway, XP ftw.
Xp is yesterdays news, it served us well, you want stability, and yes compatibility (install sp1 then plug in a device from this millennium, you’ll see), then install vista. 1/2 of you never have even tried vista or haven’t tried it and updated it in the last 6 months, you just heard the bs.
BTW im on my 800mhz/1.1ghz 1gig ram 5400 rpm hd M1400 Tablet PC, running vista and ill never go back to xp on it or my PC. The only time i bother with the outdated Xp is when im fixing somebody’s computer.
RIP WINDOWS XP
i think that vista is better OS than xp but it fails in many ways. important programs dont work on vista like corel 8, photoshop 2. and i love video games but compatibility to older games is very bad. hardware compatibility is not good either but improving. i hate about xp is that boot time is increasing over time. vista boot time is always the same. i had vista for 6 months than i replace it with xp because of the problems i wrote here
RIP Vista! Dead before it even got started. LMAO!
Again people who think its fast haven’t seen Xp installed on some of the new machines..Take about insanly fast. Vista is just fast. There is a difference but you newbies don’t know any better. Sure 2000 may be even faster but its not updated enuff…sure Xp will be out dated one day too…when microsoft releases its real next OS that actually has something to offer!
And you newbs who say XP crashed…got virus..etc..it must mean you are a dumbass cuz XP never crashes unless you have messed it up or your system has a hardware problem. Vista may seem better but its probable just hiding your dumbass problem. And I never get spyware..sure other people do…why because they are newbies and vista is a newbie OS which ask you yes or no questions to dumbass things which only a newbie from hell would need. If I could turn it into a PowerUSer OS I might even like it.
But its just built for newbies…to bad
NEXT…………
By the way “The one” the word “enuff” is written as “enough”
and try to be convincing a bit instead of saying your unsupported comments of “Vista sucks. End of story” or “But its [XP] just built for newbies…to bad.”
oh, but of course, you meant Vista is for noobs and by the way buddy try to be more polite because you’re talking about millions of people and you should better criticize the OS not the people who use it and I shouldn’t be teaching you that, should I?
i dont understand this people saying xp never crash or have problems
