Windows Vista, limited signature edition

Microsoft probably thinks people around the Globe adore them. They have decided to release a special Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Limited Numbered Signature Edition. Yeah, it’s one of the longest release names ever. This version of Vista comes in special deluxe box with a unique number and the signature of Bill Gates himself. 20 000 copies will be released and sold for an insane price of $259. Hard to say whether it’s the real signature of big Bill, but I don’t think he would use his weekend to put his signatures on 20 thousand boxes, so this will be most likely a printed sig. So if you go to sleep with Gates’ poster on the ceiling and framed picture of original Windows 98 floppy disk on the wall, this may be a right thing to buy

“20 000 copies will be released and sold for an insane price of $259″

$259 dosn’t sound so bad to the Ultimate retial price over here, no less than £337! (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=527312)
The US dollar is almost at 2 to the pound so that in dollars is $674.
Yes, brits will pay $674 for Vista, practically three times the US price.
Beyond a fuckin joke. And you guys complain $259 is a ripoff? I agree it’s a lot, but IMHO it could be worse.

Fuckin ripoff Britain. I want out of this shitty fucked up country that prides itself on mediocre, lower standards than the rest of the western world. And charges the earth for them as well. People never open their mouths and complain about anything in this country, (our famous British “stiff upper lip”) and they wonder why the whole UK economy is based on debt.
I’m hoping to get a transfer to the HQ of my company in Memphis, TN next year where at least I can buy twice as much on the same salary and not get taxed out of my arse by that cunt Gordon Brown for “luxuries” such as alcohol, petroleum and tobacco not to mention income.
And yes, I am a Brit. I don’t like dishonouring my country, but it’s more than justified in some cases.

I think (hope) MS is in for a huge surprise when most everyone who isn’t getting it shoved down their throat (OEM etc) simply ignores windows Vista. The *only* reason I would consider it is directX 10. That will only be needed for games in perhaps two years? Hopefully by then all the crap with vista can be shut down.

Slapping a gimmick label on vista smells of desperation.

Fucking Vista… Nothing works on it. I have a Vista Business DVD from MSDNAA (MSDN Academic Alliance that is :) , witch costed me absolutely nothing ) , and I tested it pretty intense, but, no software from XP worked, if it worked, it just crashed eventually. Maybe this one with the signature works :) ))) EEEhhh, what can you expect from something free…..

    January 22nd, 2007 | 01:20

everything on rlslog transfers to SUPERCOOL… even a pathetic thing like this windows… why?
    because:
    –> RLSLOG R – U – L – E – S ! ! !

  19. January 22nd, 2007 | 01:43

These limited release “ultimate edition” signed copies are actually $400 cheaper on average than the unsigned unlimited copies. Personally, I agree that Bill’s signature SHOULD devalue a product by quite a few hundred dollars.

Microsoft fears what most of us are saying; we refuse to have Vista crammed down our throats, or to even go near it until we learn how to make it more palatable.

Microsoft had to do something to generate some good buzz. We were voting with our wallets, or lack thereof, and instead of just giving away 20,000 copies at a reduced rate to generate buzz and get some market share, they came up with this gimmick. Further, I bet nobody has ever actually ASKED for Bill’s signature, so this is his way of feeling as important as the sports superstars and other real men that give signatures.

Unless, of course, the $259 is only for the box. I could see M$ pulling that haha.

    Rant on,
    Jay

lmao, might as well put a “signature theme” to go with the thing

  26. January 22nd, 2007 | 10:03

You really think this was a stupid idea? I totally agree that the concept is stupid but commercially, I bet they’re gonna sell all 20,000 boxes! 5 million dollars more for uncle Bill…

    January 22nd, 2007 | 12:12

Its not that bad of an idea…… and for the guy (or girl) claiming no one had ever asked for BG’s signature…. I would, specially on a bank check…. maybe it can be copied from the box :)

And here I was thinking what a shitty day it’s going to be. After reading the article, all the smart mouth comments and laughing hysterically I feel alive again. Thank you. Thank you all. But no thanks to MS, oooh no. Ambition does not compensate crappy work. Go back to your rooms and stay there! And don’t come out until it’s (Vista) finished! I’m too old for this s**t…

its weird because why would anyone be proud of using a m$ product? I mean indifferent sure but proud?

If you got really good with linux after spending a long time working it out then yeah sure you’d be proud i mean its hard. But vista? I’d be prouder working out how to use a mac :O

    Well jon..

I imagine that the 80% possibly more of basic computer users in the world love Windows Operating systems.

    1. Its rather easy to use these days
    2. They can get support for it.
    3. They can swap files and programs with easy between them self and friends.
    4. Its an operating system that has evolved to meet the needs of an Entertainment rich world.

(If you got really good with linux after spending a long time working it out then yeah sure you’d be proud)

Very true!! but whats the point when your 30+ other friends and family use MS Windows.

You can use your Mac, heck they are nice but I’ll be buying myself a copy of the operating system that will dominate the next 5+ years of PC growth.

    ;)

PS: Im am a Microsoft fan boy but this…

Windows Vista Ultimate Limited Numbered Signature Edition

Is a bit over the top.. Just a little.. *Need more cash do we MS?* LoL

“People never open their mouths and complain about anything in this country”

Seriously, you don’t believe that do you :)

I can think of a few names I’ve heard over the years about my fine brothers over there in England, I’m not trying to wind U up, so I won’t repeat them.

    @AlphA
I find it a bit humorous that you claim winfandom, but you’re hanging out on a rls blog. Guess watching screeners on Vista evens everything out. Personally my 30+ family use 10 flavors of OSes, but we do everything thru some pretty common standards so it doesn’t matter. I mean really, what OS can’t run avi’s these days.

    January 24th, 2007 | 23:54

Anathema: Thats nice.. you do that.

    rev: Good point!

I do hang out on Releaselog and I do claim winfandom in a world full of people that hate MS products @ the same time yep it is a bit humorous because I download content from the net but in this digital world who doesn’t…

Heck Ive had Linux boxes and other OS’s I just find this OS to be a clean and easy to use OS.

    ;)
