Windows Vista finally released!

Not an actual scene release, because I’m not downloading my new OS. Since no one posted this I thought I might as well do so. Windows Vista was released several hours ago and the madness has already started. Drivers, 32 bit 64 bit, all this crap is already causing lots of whinning. Of course you should know that the first few months of a new (Microsoft) OS are basically still beta testing months. I’m sure Vista will turn out fine by the end of the year but I can’t wait that long because I didn’t get my Nvidia 8800GTS just so I could keep playing with DX9. No, Vista is forcing me to buy it because DX10 is Vista-only. And on top of that I’m more then sick of XP. It’s time for something new! It’ll still take me at least two more months before I can actually afford Ultimate but it’ll be soooo worth it. EDIT: Make that two weeks because by then I’ll have my salary and I might as well get a OEM version of Windows Vista Ultimate since I only need one license.
Also, check out Bill Gates’ little PR stunt for Vista which is actually quite funny. Check it out here!

I think I’ll wait until the first service pack comes out before trying Vista. Although I may get it sooner because of the DX10 side of things, I love my games.
Hopefully Vista wont prevent us from enjoying all our downloads of movies and games.
You forgot to post the Torrent!
@ Corban Dallas: You really wanna donwload this thing WITHOUT any SP? Don’t think so…
Windows Xp works great!
I’m going to wait until there are some good DX10 games. Hopefully some of Vistas kinks will be ironed out and the price of DX10 cards dropped somewhat.
if im EVER going to use this shit, its when the hackers manage to hack the DRM shit…then maaaaybe…win xp x64 works pretty great for me…
Its been out for a cupple of weeks here in the UK.
I wouldnt bother with ultimate as I already have software for that which is already built in, plus theres no point paying all the extra for little to nothing.
Obviously its different for you americans. I’m in the UK and we hare getting boned by the rediculus pricetag.
Linux, anyone?!
Hackers, do your work!!!
Heh, they got Kermit the Frog on the Daily Show.
If anyone is at university, and after a legit copy, see if you can get Vista through http://msdn.microsoft.com/academic/
Hey Kelvin give me the license key and keep the dvd for urself OK.
the only reason I use XP is cause they worked out how to make explorer go 99% with two CPU’s.
this tradition will continue with Vista in due course.
heck I paid for ms dos 4 , lol
Kevin, try Mac OS X. More than Vista, by far.
Haha a thirdteen year old danish boy, muhaha tha aint me lol
Ubuntu saved my life.
@psrst143: Was that a sarcastic joke or something? It doesn’t relate to anything that’s been said in the post. And I don’t use Apple products, yeah I’m like that. And also, if some people would actually read the post they’d understand that this was not a TORRENT release. Who ever is stupid enough to download Windows Vista, be my guest, but all the people who do actually know what they’re doing will be buying their OS. You can’t say it’s not worth the 180 Euros (OEM version of Ultimate) when you know you’ll be using it for at least 5 tot 7 years. And on top of that EVERY gamer will get Vista so no matter what happens you’ll all get it if you want to continue playing games once DX9 is officially dropped by all developers.
If DX10 wouldn’t be Vista exclusive I probably could have survived with XP for at least one more year but allas, my graphics card was too damn expensive to use it for DX9 only. And on top of that I want to play Crysis with all settings maxed out which is impossible without DX10. (Yes I do meet all the other requirements.)
Why is d/l’ing Vista stupid?? That’s why we are here! Actually people that KNOW what they are doing will d/l it, and people that DON’T will just pony up hundreds of dollars for what most reviews call a marginal upgrade. Making Vista DX10 ONLY capable
is a horrible MS trick to get gamers to upgrade for that one reason ONLY. The interface and other stuff is mostly cosmetic, it actually runs slower than XP, and have you seen the system req?? I’m going to procure a copy of Vista, ONLY for DX10. MS is rolling in the profits and raping the average consumer, even with the rampant piracy of XP.
wait for the directx hack for xp
vista is what you get when you polish a turd
so when is Linux Vista coming?
Kevin: tell us… how many DX10 games are out there right now, that you wanna play sooo much?
Have been using Vista Ultimate VLM 46th day running (Thanks to Dell) been a great sail so far must admit (apart from the virtual nanny) rest is superb with the OS – you guessed it right there are minor glitches Java related products beware also IE can get jerky didnt bother much with WM10 since Classic player has been my choice for a while now, Between never noticed anything so startling about the Ultimate thingy, just a marketing gimmic i guess
Who fucking cares?
[...] Windows Vista is Finally Released! (Releaselog) [...]
Windows? Vista? Whatever that is, it sucks! It’s absolutely rubbish! There’s nothing innovative about it; just stolen ideas from Apple. Office 2007 is ok but Apple rocks!
@dfx: Well for starters Crysis will be out in a month or three. As soon as my favorite game shop opens on the release day I’ll be waiting… And as soon as I have it I’d like to see my little 520 Euro investment of my graphics card paying off. Also, Company of Heroes will get a DX10 upgrade later in the year so by then we’ll have two awesome games with incredible graphics. And it doesn’t matter what games are OUT NOW because as you may know NOBODY has DX10 drivers yet so why the hell are you asking such a self-explaining question… On top of that, why did all those people get an XBox 360 or a PS3 or a Wii on release day since there were only like 5 crappy games out for each of these consoles with the exception of the 360 of course.
Can you remember the day you first launched Windows XP? Well that’s what it’ll be like when you have Vista on your PC. And all the people who bitch about Vista being a new skin for Windows XP, you DO NOT KNOW what the fuck you are talking about. If you’d check the Wikipedia page for Vista you’d see the list of features that make this upgrade totally worth your money. I really don’t see why all these people are bitching about the system requirements either, if your PC doesn’t run Vista then your system doesn’t play DX9 games so what difference would it make for you anyway. Get a real computer.
And finally, if you REALLY knew what you were talking about you would NOT download an OS. Especially not now that there’s that Genuine check. So if you want to run the crappy bug infested P.O.S version of Vista that is downloadable on the net for quite a few weeks be my guest but I think you’ll want to be able to use Microsoft software without setting up an entire structure of hacks if there even are any. It took hackers WEEKS to finally get past the simple lock you got after using Vista for 30 days. Imagine what kind of security will be waiting for them when SP1 is released by the end of the year. No thanks, I’ll just update my OS in an instant while you scavage the net for weeks or even months before you finally get a fake hack that destroys your OS.
Don’t feel pr0 when you’re able to use torrents, the only reason torrents are so popular is because they’re so easy to use. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again (and it’s included in almost every group’s NFO): If you liked the game/app/movie… BUY IT. If you’re a student it’s OK to download everything, all students do so. But if you have the cash then why pay for an awesome gaming rig when you’re never actually going to buy any games. Or a home theater with 7.1 surround sound and everything, when all your movies are downloaded. I know a lot of you hate to hear this but it’s the truth whether you like it or not.
WindowsXP = Windows 98SE
Vista = Windows ME
Windows ME Bombed and so will Vista
Windows Vista for Newbies
Won’t upgrade till there is a real reason…. Oh Microsoft u could of done so much better!
OMG why do people want to buy windows vista for home use, just get it out of the internet, and the price ridiculous for a system full of flaws, they are just tryin to imitate mac osx badly.
so get a xbox360 and forget upgrading ur pc cause of gaming lol
market droids…
XP is just fine. No need for more DRM in my OS, thank you.
I’ll stay away for as long as possible.
Ok, so I guess the hackers are dumb for taking a measly couple of weeks to crack protection that was YEARS in the making by probably hundreds of MS code writers? Yeah, right. Normally when a reputable group cracks operating systems, it’s been tested and it WORKS. Believe me, it won’t take months, they have been working on it before it’s even out. I pay for stuff that’s WORTH it, not bloated, buggy software with DRM bugs BUILT IN. Vista can’t do a lot of stuff now, and the DRM is a pain, so go ahead and give one of the richest men (Bill Gates)
your hard earned cash for a bloated, marginal upgrade that can’t even do what XP can except give you pretty Aero “panes”.
Kevin: I think you are just trying to convince yourself that you bought that overpriced graphic card for some purpose, not just to tell your friends how cool you are. Like what is the point in buying hardware, which you wont be able to maximally use until lets say… half year later? Until than, the price will be halved because all the morons willing to pay unbelievable price tag already got it, and now its time to start to sell it to normal ppl!
Oh and by the way, do you know that OEM version of Vista is prohibited to be sold to non corporate customers who didnt buy complete PC at the same time, together with the licence? So stop this bullshit about how Vista is cheap! If “they” find out that you have cheap OEM version without buying new computer which belongs to it, you are fucked up same like ppl who downloaded pirated version from the net! Haha and we will laught long time on you when you change your motherboard, HDD or CPU and your system will need to reactivate, but Microsoft will refuse it, because OEM version is limited to one and only computer! If you change configuration more than Microsoft allows, you need to buy another licence! How cool is that?
Yeah, M$ have stolen spotlight, search in finder-windows, widgets (gadgets), glass/aqua-look, Exposé and much more from Apple. Can’t M$ come up with their own ideas?
You english Sheep-shagging cunts. XP’s new Service Pack 3 which is out in July 2007, will bring DRM and HDTV protection into XP. So then you dumb cunts can either stick to XP SP2, or use VISTA as XP with SP3 will have the same moronic DRM as VISTA.
English dumb cowards
DAMN
9 years ago, Bill Gates said this in a speech at University of Washington:
“About 3 million computers get sold every year in China, but people don’t pay for the software. Someday they will, though. As long as they are going to steal it, we want them to steal ours. They’ll get sort of addicted, and then we’ll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade.”
This just doesn’t apply to China anymore, its for the whole world.
So please, keep pirating Windows. Re-affirm your reliance and addiction of Windows and support Microsoft’s draconian DRM and “anti-piracy” implementations.
At the end of the day, if MS gets harsher, there’s really no one else to blame but yourselves.
Unfortunately, we are all slaves of society, economics, and technology which makes us so advanced and supreme (on earth offcourse).. Purpose of new software is to force us to buy new hardware, that force us to buy new software…and so on…
Things like OS, should be free or at least much more cheaper..
One more thing, software companies live from their consumers, and if that consumers start to boycot company products that company is doomed.. People has all the Power not Corporations
Besides DirectX10 (which will come to XP eventually, after Vista hype dies down) what does Vista have that you can’t use now in any other OS? It’s slower than XP because it uses more cycles as it’s baseline (”idle”), so you’ll never be able to achieve quite as much as you could on XP. Sure it might only be 2-5% but it still counts.
Vista has a 5-10WATT IDLE power increase over XP. This means it does MORE at IDLE than XP. I’ll take efficiency over “New” shit any day, thanks for playing.
Also, there was a reason to upgrade to XP (if you went the microsoft route) because Win9x crashed all the time. XP is stable. Mom and Pop have little reason to want to upgrade to XP. Sure OEM Vista sales will help its market share but people are going to be sticking with XP for a long long time. That’s the problem with making a relatively stable, fast OS, no reason to upgrade.
Kevin, you shouldn’t get so defensive. Have you personally tried the “crappy bug infested P.O.S version of Vista that is downloadable on the net”? Works fine on my test rig.
And the “why did all those people get an XBox 360 or a PS3 or a Wii on release day since there were only like 5 crappy games out for each of these consoles with the exception of the 360 of course.” comment? You’re not making any sense.
I like the site, I’m getting less fond of the contributers.
do read the article here http://www.greenparty.org.uk/news/2851
As Sophia said, wait for the first sp comes out before trying Vista!…
btw… I want it NOWWWWWWWWWWW ! :/
lol, i had win98se for a year b4 i bothered to upgrade, and hey does any1 remember MSdoom? that exploited all MS Windows 2000 – onwards.. well i was laughing at every1 that got it =P then when the service pack came out and patches, i went and installed it.. and i never even bothered with win 2000 and ME, wasn’t that great of a difference..
Wait till they iron out the problems on Vista, and if you still don’t trust it, get a Mac!
It’s like this
Windows is good, Mac’s suck a donkey’s cock and makes a funny commercial, and Linux will rule the world. The only flaw with Linux is it’s lack of support with games. I have to have computer games. That is why I run Windows Vista. But only for games, other then gaming, HELLO LINUX, THE FUTURE IS OPEN.
P.S. Mac users are like a fucking cult, watch how a million mac users will now attack my forum b/c of the donkey cock sucking quote from above. They will gather in masses and march in their gay parade down San Francisco, ( home of the hippy homosexuals ) and we windows and linux users will point and laugh at their ignorance and their crossdressing ways.
You could buy vista upgrade dvd.You CAN install vista upgrade on blank hard disk.Put dvd in drive, and format hard drive, then install WITHOUT entering the key.Once installed perform an upgrade from WITHIN vista, and put in your upgrade key.You dont have to have a previous version of windows installed. So for example if you buy U.K. vista home premium upgrade dvd on amazon = £134.99 .Full home premium = £202.99
Dude I run Vista Beta’s sinds a pre-beta 1 6 months before you.
I HATE IT.
But I would prefer it over XP but only on a pc that can manage it there is just no reason why It runs like crap on my ultra modded P3 (1800 MHz overclock with a tualatin Celeron 1300 (not a shitty p4) 1.5 GB and a bloady x850 XT PE.
And I constantly has 100% CPU load.
Not acceptable on a PC that can handle Vista I will update (not upgrade) to it for the sole reason of being more secure but the most time will be spend in my dual booting Gentoo an on my OSX powerbook.
And please stop giving those Motherfockers in Redmond Cash.
Ubuntu is nice too start with but I think it’s too slow (it does install 40x faster then Gentoo but wenn runing Gentoo is 3x faster)
We used to think that Windows was a conspiracy to help sell processors and RAM. After Vista, we might be forgiven for thinking that Vista’s purpose is to sell processors, RAM and replacement hard drives. The thrashing is just ridiculous, even with every possible service shut down.
