For Windows XP why don't people just use the keygen/s? You don't have to fuss with WGA as the keys are genuine. Of course right after install you have to change the key.

Why anyone would ever need that? XP has corporate keys, Vista thinks its genuine by injecting SLIC table in bios, and 7 is free for now.. ?

Doesn't work for me. Had to reinstall today and can't use WMP11 – won't validate XP. Prob time I bought a genuine copy.
This isn't a Windows Activation crack it's a Windows Genuine Advantage crack. It allows you to use the Windows update page with an already cracked version of windows.
It got me pass the validation process but then sp3 just hangs forever on the download screen, pretty sure that has nothing to do with this crack though.
does the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation also look for other piracy programs, or only windows? because i have a legit windows xp, but some other cracked software on the pc..

There is no need for this since all you have to do is add the following line to your hosts file to always be validated as geniune.
127.0.0.1 mpa.one.microsoft.com
It will send any validation requests to your computer's loopback address. It seems WGA will always consider you genuine if it can't connect to that address. Unlike the file in this release it will also work with WMP11 and such that have their own WGA-checks (though in WMP11 you could just remove the checking dll and install anyway).
How do you make MS Office Genuine?
@stevie: It's sole purpose is to validate your windows installation. Anything else would be an invasion of privacy and would probably give a lot of bad publicity.

Vista comes with a version of IE that contains no addons, this can be used to download updates off of the M$ website without using the validation tool (it's how I recently got the Vista SP1 update). There are also websites like softpedia that contain the DX updates (it's how I recently updated my DX to the latest version). There's really no need to bother with the WGA.
i usually grab a new iso with the latest updates when i have to install. doesnt solve all problems but still handy. 1930KB/sec so no real bother.
the way you can install the latest version of wmp is to just open it up using a program like winrar and extract the files somewhere. run the wmp exec file a (forget the name), and it'll start the installation without the verification.

The reason you must change it after installing with a key is because after registration and updating the key becomes "invailed" so says WGA. So you just change it with another generated key and your good to go.

Duh, for XP just find and install XP SP2 or SP3 Student release. And that is all. No cracks, no WGA, no nothing.

IF anybody recently suddenly start to get the tray icon and alert warning for the WGA Windows Genuine Advantage (starburst) when they start their PC, after going online or installing a new program: [when u didn't before]
Step 1. rightclick systemtray at bottom of screen, open TaskManager, go to Processes, rightclick and disable WGATray.exe (this is a new process that was not in your list of processes before)
Step 2. goto your Windows folder search for the following files:
WGATray.exe
WGALogon.dll
Step 3. delete them or cut and paste in a new location
Step 4. restart PC, the pop-up and alert won't come anymore
about virus detection:
One should note, that usually when Norton detects something, it probably is something as it is known for having very few false positives
oh – and about updates: you can get XP updated normally, just have win update set on "let me choose what to download" and selectivelly always discard WGA – simple as that xD
(downside: you can't get the newest WMP – but I use winamp and BS Player instead so i don't really care)
chris, this is true – however the failure of WGA check always disables some of window's components … are they enabled again after this trick? or does this trick only give you a break from the warnings?
If you don't want to install WMP 11 because of the built in validation just do the following:
# Download WMP11.
# Extract (unrar or unzip) wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe by using extraction tool such as WinRAR.
# Go to the extracted folder, and execute (run) wmfdist11.exe.
# Restart the computer.
# Execute wmp11.exe.
# Restart the computer.
# Start using Windows Media Player 11
That's it – doesn't validate anything that way.
Also, as far as XP is concerned either get Microsoft.Windows.XP.Professional.Student.Edition.SP3.Integrated-ETH0 which requires not validation or activation or use Autopatcher (autopatcher.com – also works with other flavours of Windows and doesn't care if you have valid copy or not…

Extract these files and copy them into a folder inside your USB stick. This way you have the cumulative Updates for NOD32 and wil be able to update any PC without internet access.
How-To:
1 – Open NOD32 windows -> Setup -> "Display Advanced Mode" (Below)
2 – Enter entire advanced setup tree -> Update -> Edit
3 – Now just paste the folders path. Done.
Press Update. That's all.

A bit off topic but after a recent vista32 update i got a message that my computer had 2 flaws. It called them Sl010 and SL08 or something. I clicked on them and the damn thing had found the timer stop and the bios emulator. My release is a BIE one. Anyone knows anything about this?
