Winamp is a free multimedia player made by Nullsoft. It supports numerous audio and video formats. It also plays streamed video and audio content, both live and recorded, authored worldwide. Try xbmc, it has a great interface and the visualiser is awsome!
i use winamp for it's cool jump feature!
Anyone who uses anything other than Winamp for mp3 and music files is a complete moron. Nothing else comes even close to it sound quality wise. Period.

Never understood why they never implemented a folder view in Media Library, enabling you to see your collection by folders – very handy for samplers or CDs with incomplete tags. Luckily there is Albumlist, a little bit dated, but working great:

Yeah, Winamp is such garbage these days. The problem is finding a good alternative that doesn't take up the whole screen like the new Winamp skin.

I dumped Winamp for a year now and AIMP2 is which im using right now. Way better than this bloated crapware. Just try it, you will love it. All Winamp plugins works with AIMP2 too.

I tried dozens of players ranging from freeware open source to close source paidware even some of the companies like creative and apple push with their products, winamp provides the most and best features out of the lot, from skinning to plugins theirs no competition, also as for audio quality, their is no difference since they all use the same libraries and codecs…
o, and all the "bloat" can be easily removed by either not installing while in setup or by removing it after install.

Winamp V5 is superior to V2 in every possible way including memory footprint once you remove the new plugins that were added over the years, I actually had a friend with a really old P2 PC that he used mostly to hear music on, I removed his older winamp and installed the newer while taking care not to install the plugins that he didn't need, and winamp actully started faster, scanned mp3s for tags faster, and so on…
media player classic is the best video player,
winamp is the best music player out their period.

I have no alternative mp3 player at the moment. I dumped winamp 3.x when I realised that my laptop was experiencing less lagg with WMP. Winamp lost it's charm.
