today has been a crappy day for releases movie wise, no big movies, nothing too special. oh well, hope tommorow brings some nice new DVDRIPS and R5’s.

BTW i tries this winamp as a beta not long back and it is brilliant. not a resource hog at all (#2)

    January 18th, 2008 | 01:24

winamp uses too much resources and opens really slow even on a Pentium 4 with 1 Gbs ram… use Aimp2 instead. way more better and even cooler plugins.

    January 18th, 2008 | 01:24

Wow, the psyche-ward must have given the kids ward internet access or something.

I like Winamp because it’s not bloated, it works flawlessly with my iPod and I can use/edit/make skins for it. (plus I have all my Global Hotkeys set up for it and I don’t think I could be bothered to start using a different media player.

I have used winamp for what seems like a decade. I always choose the simple version, and I have never been disappointed.

  34. Tom
    January 18th, 2008 | 05:14

Used to love winamp, no so much anymore. Itunes is ok, but way too resource intensive and buggy on Windows.

Recently been using MediaMonkey, like it a lot but it is buggy and has problems too. I saw Fubar2000 mentioned, so I went to check it out.

I clicked on the Screenshots link, and the first one has Tools Aenima album playing. It would be the worst program ever, but the only one I will ever use for the rest of my life because of that screenshot. The developer(s) OBVIOUSLY have excellent taste.

Amarok compiles on Windows and OS X these days, it’s getting closer to running on platforms other than KDE, shouldn’t be long before you all will understand why linux geeks laugh at Winamp and iTunes :)

    January 21st, 2008 | 03:21

news flash!!! foobar fanboys are loose!!!

foobar is ok if you’re not into visuals, media management etc etc or if your computer is from the stone age or if you’re a total nerd who don’t appreciate art/visuals etc and sets his windowsxp background to black or any other plain color and uses the windows classic theme.

if you’re so concerned about the memory footprint of the app then just use 1by1. it’s not as visually appealing as winamp or even foobar and lacks deep media management (playlists are the only media mangemnet feature) but it plays your music files

    WTF, WinAmp is n00bware ?

Gee, what a pity no one told me that in 1997 when I started using it – I could have saved myself a whole lot of embarrassment …

    Now go play, plz.
