Wild China S01E01 WS PDTV XviD-REMAX

REMAX puts out some of the absolute best releases that the scene has to offer in my opinion. As you can imagine, the title of this release really caught my eye, so I decided to post about it. My jaw drops as I watch the sample. The images captured in this documentary look utterly astounding. I recommend anyone who is interested in the world around us to download this release. Big thanks to REMAX for putting out releases that help us expand our minds.

Edit: High Def version has been released: Wild.China.Part1.720p.HDTV.x264-GOTHiC

Heart of the Dragon. Episode 1.
Documentary that brings pioneering images that capture the dazzling array of mysterious and wonderful creatures that live in Chinas most beautiful landscapes. The fairytale hills of Guilin and the cormorant fishermen of the Li River form the heart of this exploration of the colourful rice-growing cultures and strange creatures of southern China - a land of endless hills, mysterious caverns, spectacular rock pinnacles and traditional cultures with a taste for wildlife.

    what a dumb, ignorant comment. there’s nothing wrong with the chinese language or any other languages. it’s what you don’t know that makes you not comfortable with. and why don’t we also free New Hampshire, Vermont, Texas, Quebec, Greenland, etc. while we are at it.

    thanks for sharing this documentary, ReeGed!

    It would be OK if the Chinese just had a “taste” for wildlife - but they are also fascinated with “traditional medicine” and will put poor animals through torture for the sake of longevity and libido.

    Black Bear bile, drained from living, caged bears, is supposed to aid libido and general “energy”. Doesn’t do much for the 7000 such tortured bears however.

    http://www.hsus.org/wildlife/issues_facing_wildlife/wildlife_trade/the_unbearable_trade_in_bear_parts_and_bile/
    (Humane Society)

    I have great respect for Chinese ingenuity, invention and traditional medicine, but a line has to be drawn between what acceptable and what is simply cruel and inhuman treatment of animals.

    @31:

    There are many languages spoken in China. Even the most popular language - Chinese, alone, has literally hundreds of dialects, and the differences among those dialects are quite obvious, even to someone who doesn’t speak Chinese. So which one is “the language” that is so repulsive to you?

    Watched this on BBC last night. Absolutely beautiful documentary. The scenery, the music they used. How animals and birds interact with people to live and find food. Like a step back in time to an age where living off the earth was a simple and uncomplicated act. Apart from the narrator, theres almost no human speech in it. Kids schooling in a cave, birds trained to catch fish, and the beauty of thousands of rice fields at sunset. Amazing! This would be an astounding show in hi-def for sure. :)

    @36: Im sure he refers to the standard Beijing dialect of mandarin. I must say I agree with him though. Chinese (all the dialects and variants ive heard) isn’t a very beautiful language imo. But then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    I have to re-iterate what 37 said about this.

    Absolutely awesome doc.

  40. wth
    May 12th, 2008 | 09:54

    @39:

    That’s perfectly normal, because we are all affected by our native languages when it comes to deciding whether another language is beautiful or not. From what I know, it seems that native English speakers generally don’t think Chinese is pleasant to hear, but a lot of them think French is very beautiful, I guess it has something to do with the fact that both English and French are intonation languages, but Chinese is not. Native Chinese speakers, on the other hand, don’t think French is beautiful or romantic at all, we are especially sensitive to some of sounds in that language, most noticeably, the pronunciation of “r”, it sounds so ugly to our ears(no offence to French and French people).

    I know some westerners who are learning Mandarine in Beijing. When asked why they wanted to learn Chinese, besides interests in Chinese culture and occupational reasons, some of them told me they simply wanted to learn a non-alphabetic language, others think it’s full of ancient wisdom. So is Chinese beautiful or not? As a native speaker it’s really hard for me to say, but I do kinda like my northeastern accent - kind of a deep barrel-tone voice, very manly.

    @ 41

    I guess you are right about that.

    But I live in holland but I like the English language more then my own language. I guess you don’t have an answer to that? :P
    Anyway Iam going to watch this now =)

    May 12th, 2008 | 10:48

    @42

    I’ve never thought about it before, hehe. Can’t say that I love the language, but I do feel lucky that I chose English as my first second language instead of Russian or Japanese like some of my schoolmates did, since you know English is the de facto world language atm, so it definitely made my life easier.

    And enjoy the show! :)

    @43

    Thank you for your concern. It happened a couple of hours ago. A lot of place in China experienced earthquakes. I must say it’s kinda hard to believe, so many earthquakes happened simultaneously across such a vast range of areas, I’ve never seen it before, considering China is a huge country.

    Hope everything back to normal soon in Burma too!

    Hey BN users, unfortunately we had a problem with paypal & some fraudulent charges that ended up costing us about $400. Paypal put a hold on our account & after a week of arguing with them we got it unlocked. Shortly after we had alot of bills that were due & weve been struggling to keep up ever since.
