On March, 8, 1965 the first troops of the US Marine Corps landed on the territory of Southern Vietnam. It was the beginning of a new confrontation between Saigon government and The Liberation Army of Vietnam. During this war the American troops were using not only new weapons, but new battlefield postures as well. One of the most noticeable changes was the extensive use of military helicopters both for transportation and fire support in landing zones.
The war in Vietnam became the first military conflict where helicopters played a significant role. Even now the image of the American helicopter Huey is one of the symbols of the operation in Indo-China. One is likely to come across the legendary Huey in every reconstruction of the above-mentioned events, whether this is a movie, a book or a computer game.
The game covers the events in November 1965, the operation in the Ia Drang Valley. Players will have a chance to pilot the legendary UH-1B (a gunship featuring maneuverability and fire power) and perform different types of tasks including attack and destroy, infantry support, rescue and many others. Gamers will be able to choose between different aircrew members at any time becoming the pilot or gunner as the AI takes over any unmanned positions. Flexibility is key as multiple settings allow varied flight behavior for the helicopter from realistic to arcade. This makes the game interesting for both hardcore gamers and casual players.
WoV features all the major weapons and military equipment of that period, both air and land from firearms, grenade launchers and artillery to planes and vehicles on both sides of the conflict.

Graphics on this game look like back in 1990…
I downloaded and played this, being a big fan of battlefield vietnam. This is a much more serious chopper sim, the graphics look alot better on my rig than they do in the screenshots above, still nothing stellar but if you crank up the settings its not so hard on the eyes (except the muddy terrain textures). There is NO tutorial whatsoever. Literally your expected to know how to fly a fucking huey off the bat with no help at all. Impossible. I wound up just letting the auto pilot fly while i manned the side guns and front mounted chain gun.
I bet if I was a hardcore flight sim fan I could get into this more, for me though I will stick with battlefield: vietnam online
My d/l was a dud. Followed instructions but still the game gives me an error message on startup: please insert original disk instead of a backup

I HOLD A COMMERCIAL/INSTRUMENT LICENSE, AND YES THIS IS A GAME.I NEVER TRULY FOUND A SIM THAT DUPLICATES FAITHFULLY A HELICOPTER EXCEPT THE PROFESSIONAL ONES USED FOR TRAINING WITH FULL MOTION. HELICOPTER FLYING CAN BE FAIRLY DAUNTING FOR THE NEW COMER AND IF YOU LACK BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF FLIGHT CONTROLS AND FLIGHT DYNAMICS/CHARACTERISTICS YOU MAY FIND THIS SIM VERY FRUSTRATING.ENCOUNTERS WITH MOTHER EARTH WILL BE PROMPT AND PROFUSE.FOR THOSE WHO SPEND THE TIME RESEARCHING AND EXPERIMENTING IT COULD BE VERY REWARDING.

I bought it on play-asia and I receipt it but my computer is not enough powerfull to work it.But Now I’ve a new PC and I lost my CD,I’ve just the box and manual.I download it and when I start,it say “d3dx9_28.dll” is not found and “unable to create logger”
