    Hardcore? In what world are the Germs considered hardcore? Don’t get me wrong, I love the Germs, and have since I was a teenager, but they are far from hardcore. Maybe the definitions are different these days. If you don’t know who the Germs are, don’t download this movie expecting a Cro-mags or Warzone esque sound or story. They are west coast political punk. Very influential, very gritty and raw.

    Someone please post RS links if they have them!!

    Also, The Germs are not a “hardcore” band in even the loosest sense of the term. They have and always will be one of the most influential punk rock bands in the history of the genre and are well worth a listen for those interested in learning a little more about the true roots of punk rock music.

    @4 and 5
    Germs were a hardcore punk band.
    It is typical of those who were not around on the scene in the early 80’s to think that hardcore was something else.

    hardcore = middle class american kids pretending to be working class.

    I like a few hardcore bands, but prefer proper punk.

    The germs were most definitely a hardcore band. That is why they were so popular and influential. They didn’t go down the ‘punk’ road and ruin their chances for success. They wanted to be popular, and were because they chose the hardcore path.

    I’ve been waiting for this movie since it was announced in the 90’s. I’m so excited that it’s FINALLY out.

    By the way, the Germs weren’t a hardcore band, not even by early-80’s standards. Black Flag, Bad Brains, and others were considered hardcore. The Germs were punk. Not that it matters, because they’re still awesome.

    Off to watch now.
