Problem is that Japan is not violating any international law… I personally do not object anything to whaling, as long as whales are not overkilled. Minke whales, which are virtually the only one hunted, are not considered to be endangered anymore, and international treaties allow countries to hunt them.
Do you know that Norway resumed commercial whaling, that is outside the IWC treaty? Why then groups like Sea Shepherd only focus on Japan??
Finally, talking about terrorism, it is Sea Shepherd who attack on several occasions Japanese boats. Not the way around.
I can understand that people oppose whaling, but not that they attack people hunting whales.
Watson said in a lecture a few years back that he’s proudly damaged a lot of illegal whaling vessels without hurting anyone. You can’t say that about the Japanese as they throw grenades and shoot at environmentalist so they can knowingly fish illegally.
He also said he fights for the whales since they can’t fight for themselves. As soon as you find a whale that doesn’t want his help or agree with his mission, he’ll give it all up.

Now there is a legitimate, mature counterargument. And you didn’t even have to call me a “Yankee” right after you spouted off about the evils of racism…
Problem is, I never said Japan was violating international law, I said the whalers, who are Japanese in this case, are. I still believe they are, as they killing nearly 1000 whales a year under the guise of “Research”, though I don’t believe they’re doing any. If the research isn’t legitimate, their actions are illegal.
Minke whales aren’t endangered, but it’s still illegal to hunt them.
Sea Shepherd conducts operations against Japanese, Norwegian, and Icelandic Whalers. They also fight the Canadian seal harvest, as well as patrol the Galapagos islands.
Terrorism, my ass. Throwing stink bombs, etc. doesn’t meet my definition of terrorism; they’re not killing people, they’re harassing criminals. You could call it annoyism, though.
The funny part is, I’m not an environmentalist, and I don’t necessarily agree with their position.
These people that harass the Japanese whalers are overbearing racists who should mind their own business. Whaling is Japanese culture. It should be respected. And whoever said the Jews mutilate penises are right. But you forgot to mention the 1.2 Billion Muslims who practice circumcision too. Funny how you left them out. I think you are Anti-Japanese and Anti-Jewish and a possible racist.
Wow. You need to look up racism in the dictionary. Since they go after the Icelanders and the Norwegians too, it’s not racism; furthermore, disliking a single activity someone engages in does not constitute a broad-based disdain for an entire class of people, as racism would be.

About 65% of Christians practice circumcision as well, but this is more often done for medical reasons rather than religious ones.

If Whale Wars isn’t racist, why aren’t they going after the Norwegians, Icelanders or Americans, who also hunt whales just the same as the Japanese? Whaling is a part of Japanese culture, and at the very least, they use most of the animal after killing it, unlike we Westerners who waste the vast majority of the corpses of animals we slaughter for food (Whale Wars is even trying to force the Japanese to waste the slaughtered whales by ruining the meat with butyric acid… so their deaths will be totally in vain). The Japanese laugh at we Westerners. We have industrial-scale slaughter houses in which countless different animals are slaughtered wholesale, yet a few sensitive left-wing radicals are after them for slaughtering large foodstuffs? It’s completely ridiculous. According to the IWC, minke whales aren’t even endangered. Their numbers are equal to historic levels. When the endangerment argument is removed, it comes down to cruelty against animals, yet hunting a whale is no more cruel than hunting any other animal… or going fishing for that matter. How many fishermen catch fish and throw them in coolers while they are still alive and allow them to suffocate to death over the course of hours (and sometimes days)? These Whale “Warriors” are naive, over-sensitive, racist fools who are risking their lives for nothing at all.
