Whale Wars S01E03 WS DSR XviD-OMiCRON

OMiCRON brings us the latest episode of a new show ‘Whale Wars’. The show follows Captain Paul Watson, founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, as he and his crew attempt to non-violently deter Japanese ships that hunt whales in the name of research.

International Incidents R US
With Ben and Giles of Sea Shepherd being held hostage aboard the Japanese whaling ship Yushin Maru #2, Captain Paul Watson is pleased at the international media storm he has created, and rejects an offer from whalers to release the hostages. He forces the Australian and Japanese governments to get involved and at last negotiate for their return. As the Sea Shepherds head to pick up their crew members, they decide to attack the Japanese vessel that held them hostage. In the process, they lose radio contact with their outboard boat and fear the four crew members aboard are lost in the middle of the pitch-black, cold Antarctic night.

I watched this for the 1st time last night. I found the show to be rather amusing. I will agree, the people happen to fall on the side of extremists which I also classify as “nutjobs” in my book! Those [2] guys are lucky they didn’t get shot on the spot!

Watson is a total psycho and a manipulative SOB. His intentions to save whales/seals/marine life in general takes a backseat to his need for media attention.

    What a bunch of hypocrites

regardless of their motives, the way that “captain” runs the ship and crew is damn right dangerous and irresponsible. he should risk his life, not other peoples.

So you don’t disagree with his fight so you zero in on his personality flaws? What does he have to be Entertainment Tonight famous and interesting before you cut him some slack?
Ya right. The Japanese are going against international law and the international community wont do thing about it. They go around the world and invade a number of country’s sovereign waters and empty the oceans of life without a care.
And you think about Watson’s ego? No one else is doing a damn thing to stop illegal killing of whales and other marine life except him. Do you see anyone else stopping them? No. So excuse him for not having the perfect personality for you or being camera friendly. I think there are more important things than that.

I’ve met Watson a coupla times and he didn’t come across as the obsessed whacko the media likes to portray him as.
Two points- most of our species advances have been made my people committed to their work to the point of obsession.
Charles Darwin spent most of his life observing and thinking before his ideas crystallised in “The Origin of the Species.
He worked on his collection of molluscs daily for over 18 years before he could finish his study of this ‘family’ of creatures.

The second point about Watson is that whilst he may be cavalier about his own life he goes to great lengths to ensure others are safe.

All the years he has been out their ramming fishing boats to save nearly extinct whales or decimated fishery stocks, no person has lost their life.

@22 I agree from the show at least in ep 1 that he comes off as a totally reasonable guy but ep 2 shows a way different side of him. The boarding of another vessel and his saying that he’s disappointed that his crew doesn’t want to give their life for a whale says he isn’t the most reasonable person.

He’s cavalier no doubt, but he’s a dangerous one that even Greenpeace doesn’t want anything to do with.

Greenpeace doesn’t want anything to do with anything controversial nowadays.
They’ve really become soft, a hugely bureaucratic organization, and the fact they don’t want anything to do with Sea Shepherd just shows Sea Shepherd is doing the job Greenpeace shoulda be doing.

I find myself rooting for the whalers. If I was the captain of one of the whaling boats, I would broadside ram that insane, psychotic captains' boat. I can tell JUST by looking at the dazed-look-of-a-wounded-animal face on that fat Kenny Rogers wannabe captain. You piece of dung, why don't you go screw yourself. I hate you and wish you were dead…you and all the maggot infested hippies that ride with you.
