@37 your a idiot, your USSR Gov distroyed your own people!! they drove the counry into the ground and TOOK every thing from its workin classes. you dont have a clue what a Capitalism state is! they thought that workin people did not have the sence to look after their own money so they took it all to give to the state of the USSR, this smashed the morel of the workin class…. so what happens when your down… they Kick you again and take MORE & MORE this then had a knock on effect, no one wanted to work because? why should they? they wern’t getting paid so fook them they thought… what happens when on-one works?…. nothing get made… or bought or sold.
the country was distroyed all by the idea of a few men that thought they could CONTROL the People of the USSR Money is a bad thing! evil it has very strange powers and control over people and as for a Capitalism state the USA Is , The UK Is they give back to the people that work for it…
think you need to read a little more truth about the USSR and educate your self about things,

if You Wrote a Movie and you got paid ” $10″ per page its 10,000 pages long and your best buddy in the world made a movie 10,000pgs long… Company A is willing to pay your $10 + .04C per dvd but Company B will pay £10 + .4c + BENIFITS for 5 yrs.. who would you go with? i know where your buddy would go!

These people that write script, movies books yes like it has been said in a comment above a few time , get paid once! smaller ammounts than actors Producers director, for what? there minds creativity! if they did not think about the things to be writen the guys that yeah.. work 18 hours a day would be $40,000 a year poorer! and would not have a job.. i think all the Writers are looking for is worth! a little epreciation for what they do and create.. hell when i sell my movie i want top Doller paying for it.. wouldnt you?

as i was once told “go to school , get a good education then you got to work to earn a living” , what i was never told was this! ” a Living is good dont get me wrong, when did they ever teach you in school profit is better than wages? and to work on your fortune?… ppl say i want to earn a fortune why dont they?….. find me ill let you know how.. ;~)

Screw the writers. 99% of the crew doesn’t get any sort of residuals. How many writers can’t work because they get injured at work? How many writers have to work outdoors in snow and the rain?

To say that because the studio’s who are very rich will start making crappier show’s because they don’t have the money for good ones is ridiculous. The studio’s have plenty of money, they just want to keep it all for themselves, for their top executives.

Yes, writers get a flat sum for the shows they write, and then they get a small fee for every show put out on video. Yet they aren’t getting that money, because apparently new methods of distribution exempt the media companies from the rules.

Yeah… About that, they aren’t the same thing, and the writers realize that, and most people realize that that watch the movie. Apparently not you though. What they are doing is making a metaphor. Maybe you’ve heard of those?

I don’t see anything wrong with these hard working people getting payed more… Oh yeah, I do, less profit to the corporations that fund these shows and then crappier shows. Now who wants to see a soap? But the corporations may just increase the cost of advertising.

As a writer I have to say…it’s NOT hard work. But then again, I’ve never been paid a cent for my work, so whether or not it’s hard doesn’t really matter much if I’m not being bought up by a studio. Instead of fantastic work, fantastic writing, they’re going to pick up someone else’s story that’s poorly written and boring. You all know this happens, just look at the list of shows up above. God awful with small exceptions.

So I dunno but if it was me I’d take what I could get considering the difficulty of going up against a million-plus other writers, having the top picks decided by a few people who think their personal opinions on what makes a good story, worthy of television or whatever, are gold and can’t possibly be wrong. What are the odds of that happening? Probably pretty slim I’d imagine. Definitely don’t think this is “fair”, but that’s how it goes. If you don’t like what they’re offering you for your writing, wal-mart is still hiring.
