This great week for movies continues with a DVDRip of We Are The Night courtesy of well known group FLAiTE. Quality of this release is great coming in at 2cds with nice AC3 5.1 audio so no problems here. Nothing more to say, download and enjoy :) .

New York, 1988: A new breed of narcotics has swept the great city, bringing with it a ferocious crime wave more terrifying than any in recent memory. Outmanned and outgunned by the new criminal order, the police find themselves burying one of their own at the rate of two a month. An all-out war rages, threatening to engulf guilty and innocent alike.

But it’s 1988, and New York City’s drug trade is escalating. Bobby tries to keep a friendly distance from the Russian gangster who is operating out of the nightclub – a gangster who is being targeted by his brother, Joseph (Mark Wahlberg), an up-and-coming NYPD officer, and his father, Burt (Robert Duvall), the legendary deputy chief of police.

    I wish they’d stop always portraying the cops as the good guys taking down the ‘evil’ drug dealers. If drugs were legalized, we wouldn’t have this endless cycle of violence. There are far more powerful prescription drugs available at your local pharmacy, and the people making them aren’t crime-lords, they are multi-billion dollar corporations.

    the p2p (THS) release was much worse quality than this, seeing as it is only 1cd. i advise everyone to grab this release rather than the THS release, and use virtual dub to join the 2cd’s together

    cheers but got the 1cd version earlier, run fatboy run there was only a cam out late of last year then all of a sudden it disappeared, usa release of this is due going by the comingsoon.net site 28th march ( http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=19024 ) for whoever wanted to know. penelope aswell february even though imdb says the film was released 2006.

    Jeez boys! I have the 1 CD version, looks great and am happy to save the time and bandwith. I don’t have an HD or plasma, and my setup sucks, so lets not get purist on this site… some people like speed and convenience.

    In fact, there is a good argument for VCD’s. If I’m watching a film set in an apartment where two people talk for 2 hours, I don’t need HD, or 5.1 sound, and a VCD which takes 3 minutes to burn is always appreciated over a 75min DVD-burn requirement… or an experimental film, or low budget. All formats have their value.

    So my appreciation to the one CD-rip crowd, since v/a quality is still great. :D

    the ths 1cd rip was from a lower quality source – a dvd5, that means it was either compressed from a dvd9 and you now have a 1cd compression of a compression, or it was some cheapo dvd made from who knows what, which will never be officially released anywhere

    so it’s about the source and then also about the way the xvid was made !
    those of you who have reasons for not getting a 2cd-rip should get a 1cd-rip from the dvd9 – i’m sure somebody will make it when the dvd9 get spread around

    anyway, one of the best films of the year deserves the best treatment :-)

    i thinks the difference in video quality is quite negligible but if you want Dolby 5.1 do with the FLAiTE release…

    Video quality is over hyped most times, as is the story with 720 vs 1018. The human eye cannot perceive the difference in quality between the two unless they sit very close to the TV or the have a VERY large TV…

    What’s the deal with subtitles and these movies? There are a few russian scenes that need subtitles, but the subtitle files available give you english subtitles for the whole goddamn movie. Kind of irritating for the small minority of us who aren’t deaf or esl.

    Saw this movie yesterday and Jesus sure experienced some pain @ the cross, but that is NOTHING compared to what I suffered watching this movie @ a cinema!

    Good quality, BUT the movie is terrible. Huge letdown given the star potential. Its watchable if you want to kill time & have something ‘on’ while your doing other things. No point in giving this your complete attention.

    Gone baby gone was much better (even in terms of acting)– and thats saying a lot.

    Try and play it with VLC player, if you havent got it then get it, its free. other than that, try a site http://www.free-codecs.com and search for your problem. if i play these files thru windows i have sync issues too so i use VLC to check quality and use WinAvi video converter 8.0 to make it a dvdv file to burn.

    Stop sooking bout not having Subs during Russian speaking, if you cant figure out basically what they are saying by the scene itself, your stupid as. If you havent downloaded it yet, you will see the couple of Russian speaking parts arent vital to understand.
