Welcome Stranger 2006 DVDRip XviD-aAF

Guys at aAF probably run out of porn pay per view releases so they bring us this low-budget minor movie. Welcome Stranger is an underground Australian drama with a budget of better home video, so I can recommend this only to real fans of actors or close friends of people from production. YouTube will give you probably more excitement than this crap.

A strange day begins for 18 year old Adam with a phone call from an old school friend. After several years without any contact, Luke is eager for a reunion. Bewildered, Adam sets off to meet up with his childhood mate. What follows is a sequence of interactions with Luke’s family members, overlaid with a drug and alcohol binge. As the day progresses through a series of funny, sad and violent clashes it becomes clear that the stranger has little in common with the people he has been thrown in with. What all these characters do share though is an intense desire to be something more than what they are.

Why oh why does Martin hate the Australians? Think of all the valuable stuff that they’ve contributed to our culture: Rolf Harris, Germaine Greer, Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter, Vegemite…

    OK Martin, hate on..

I am sick and tired of the racism on this site. Every time there is a low budget film with an all white cast it is criticized. I am gonna let all my white friends know, and we are gonna protest you guys. I’m gonna go watch my White Entertainment Television now. I hear that the Miss White America is coming on soon.

Usually it takes a pukka release to get things rolling, and there is no upcoming R5 release for atleast a few weeks. so it going to be boring in terms of releases. The Mist, National Treasure 2, and There Will Be Blood would be nice.

I’d rate this film, erm, about 2/10 ?? Sorry just really didnt like it. I watched the whole thing just so I ‘knew’ or maybe I was waiting for it to ‘kick-in’. But nothing. Shame.

To Martin and all the Aussie film haters:
I know Aus inflicted some crap on the film world but it has made some great movies. In respect of low budget movies try watching “2:37″ a very low budget film made by a (23 yo?)guy with no film experience in about 6 weeks. It scored 6.9 on IMDB.

umm. wasn’t Mad Max an Aussi film???

As far as crap releases being posted.. Hell if it is crap
but it was released, then I feel it should have a post…
Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean everyone else
would not like it as well… for me.. I don’t care much for
this film, but for someone else.. Who knows… Remember
people this site is basically a live news report… Not
all news is good.. but news is news… Same goes here…

As an Australian I would like to take this opportunity to officially apologise for the crappiness of our film industry. The low budgets aren’t enough of an excuse we simply suck at making movies. I am deeply sorry if any of you have been or in the future will be exposed to the cesspit that is Australian cinema.

I think that this is a thoughtful and interesting film that was clearly made very cheaply. That roughness is part of the appeal.
It always interests me when morons complain about films where nothing “happens”. Do you need your big hyperinjection of salt sugar and fat do you? Maybe you have been saturated out of taste.
