Yet another low rated movie from DiAMOND has pred recently, and this time its Martin Lawrence’s comedy entitled Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins. One thing that pisses me off about DiAMOND is that they tend to release long movie on 1CD, and if you check here on rlslog, you can see for yourself…
Quality: This is a 114 minute long movie that has fallen into the trend of being released on 1CD, causing the quality to be rather crappy. A fairly low res of 592×320 and a video bitrate of 679kbit/s aren’t anything to brag about, but the sound is your typical MP3 with a bitrate of 144kbit/s.

From the looks of the sample, the quality is fine. Some movies compress better than others. Another fine release by DiAMOND.

Here we go again with Marcelli trying but failing to pwn the release groups. Haven’t you learned your lesson? The quality of this release is the usual DiAMOND standard. You need to think again about the relationship between compression factors, average bitrate and image quality.

Its just lately that diamond rips are 1cd only which really sucks…..atleast NeDivX seems to still do 2cd rips…but apart from that in the past little while all ive seen is 1cd rips.

As someone already mentioned, its most likely just a race to pre a movie first, which is a bummer. Since the scene rules don’t mandate rippers to use 2CDs nor is there a minimum bitrate requirement, we can have many poor quality rips. Either grab an internal, wait for the dvdr, or just get the HD.

I don’t take much notice of 2 CD releases because i’m only watching it on a monitor so the quality is fine either way.
But as for all you guys using home theatres and 30″ monitors, i feel rather emotional for you… NAWWWWWWT.

Marceli – stop crying like a friggin girl. Scene rules dictate that any release below 120mins should be 1 CD. I’m not saying this is what is good (especially in terms of quality), but scene rules are scene rules and no group wants their release to be nuked so Diamond are only doing their job by following the rules. If the quality matters to you so much, go rent the damn thing and do your own rip – otherwise STFU since you are getting it for free.

Diamond tend to do 1 cd release for crap flicks and 2 cd release for real good flicks. also if you look sapphire do dvdr. so they release both formats for all people. you must bear in mind some people have limited bandwidth and 1 cd d/l of this flick is enuff( as its crap )im sure that diamond will give you a mention in their next nfo marcelli
I myself prefer 1 cd movies opposed to 2 because of the problems with joining these cds into a dvd for tv watching. Two times out of 3 they will not merge because they constantly have different frame rates. Combining these movies with converting programs leave jumpy splicing in the middle of the dvd that is extremely annoying.

It’s all silly to think Rlslog’s opinions matter to the scene’s oldest Xvid group in Diamond….
After all, they’ve been ripping dvds for years now and for FREE while Rlslog is using the scene’s hardwork and making money of it from its advertising dollars. I don’t begrudge that the site makes money, but put some perspective into it…they ARE doing a service to A LOT of people who do appreciate it (like me for instance), whether certain individuals on RLSLOG like it or not.

Diamonds needs to at least make the discs 1 gig . Fools Gold is a good example of a poor quality release . I got the 2 disc release and it had no macro blocking plus it had 5.1.

wow… lots of whining and testosterone here! 2 CD’s for classic, fast-action and oscar-worthy… 1 CD for dodgy, pass-the-timer’s, STV’s and low-scoring. I haven’t run into a Diamond rip that I thought should have been on a different number of CD’s than what was offered.
and yeah… this is definitely a 1 CD situation… gf seems to like IMDB’s bottom 100! ha.

Martin Lawrence’s screen presence is lame. I just never liked him as an actor. He just doesnt have the qualities that usually make a good actor. He should stick to the comedy stage.

WTF? It’s one thing to be naive, and quite another to be an idiot about it.
If you’d actually done any 3- or 4-pass rips yourself, you’d know that the average bitrate is not as important as the bitrate in sequences of high complexity, fast action or rapid scene changes. DiAMOND have had years to perfect their ripping skills and make these fine judgements to get the best balance of resolution and image quality against file size. In the end, as with all rips, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. You’ve said nothing about the actual image quality, or provide screenshots as proof of any crappiness, you’re just moaning about the stats, which is about as meaningful as citing IMDB scores as evidence of overall quality.

All these little comedies/dramas with no action scenes, dark scenes or CGI do compress very well, there is no need at all for 2CD here. You need AC3 for a sh1tty movie like this? LOL
I guess Marceli just got scared at the res of 592×320 because usually it starts with a 6 (like 640×272) and with its uber math skills he imediately understood that it was 25% lower than usual

Seriously getting tired of seeing this repeated whining about 1CD releases, some releases simply don’t need a 2CD release, bitrate is usually less of concern with comedies compared to eg. action flicks. And if you’re unhappy about the quality you should know by now that a replica dvd-r usually follows with every diamond release.
