Weekend Nazis WS PDTV XviD-REMAX

If you go down to the woods in Kent, you’ll be sure of a big surprise. The Second World War is raging. But they’re not real bullets, and that’s not a real stick. And they’re not real Nazis. They call this ‘living history’ it’s all good clean fun – or is something darker lurking in the woods. A BBC documentary that takes a critical look at the war re-enactments at Glastonbury, and delves into whether there is in fact a Nazi conspiracy behind the shroud of an innocent re-enactment play festival.

Re-enacting battles from World War II is a popular summer pastime in the UK. But although we won the war, it’s the Germans that most people want to portray and the SS who are the most popular of all. All good clean fun for most of those involved but there’s a dark side too. John Sweeney tours the biggest event of its type in Kent and discovers David Irving, jailed for denying the holocaust, signing books, a trader selling a relic from Belsen and some Nazi enthusiasts expressing extreme racist views.

Britain went to war to defend free speech but should it now be the home of activities which are banned by law in Germany and in future perhaps, across the EU?

    I don’t see any difference with the civil war re-enactments that take place in the US all the time. I don’t care for it, but if people want to dress up and go to a fake war why not? People play laser-tag, paintball and shit like that, so why not take it to the next level?

    As for people ‘wanting’ to be nazis: Let’s face it, they do have the coolest uniforms! They have this nice color scheme going which makes their whole outfit just very Sci-Fi. It is not for nothing that nazis are so popular in TV and movies, they just look so damn good!

    WW2 was more than 60 years ago dude, just let it slide. You can’t dwell on the past forever. That’s not being ignorant, that’s being realistic. We have other problems in the world today.

    er… you understand your name alone was used as a slogan for the racists in Cronulla, or are we just going to let that slide?
    So, i mirror the question back to you.
    “Are you a neo nazi/racist?”

    @2

    Is something wrong with publishing docos about the past? Denying the past is the worse thing you can do.

    @9

    I’d like to see a doco on who came up with the uniform styles of the third reich! :)

    @10

    Then stfu or foad, no one forces you to come here

    @12

    Yer let’s be like the nazis and ban his books, real smart. If his books are full of rubbish then people will see them for what you say, propoganda by a nazi lover.

    David Irving is a freedom fighter.

    If you had actually read any of his material, including his books, you’d realize he’s as far away from being a nazi or neo-nazi as you can get.

    Clearly, you want to perpetuate myths.

    That in itself is fine.

    People who have even a slightly open-mind can judge for themselves by going out and doing their own research.

    That’s all it takes. Don’t take my word for it or anyone else’s. Just read the material. If you don’t agree, that’s allright too. The most important thing is that YOU have decided. Not some talking head on tv, or a radio talkshow host or a magazine editor, etc.

    You.

    He should get raped by a bunch of extremely well hung studs once in a while.

    David Irving is not a Nazi and is considered the best world war 2 historian in the world. He only got in trouble when he done an autobiography on Hitler and through searching the german state archives could not find an extermination order from Hitler of european jewry which he mentioned in his book. How about they produce a documentary on the ADL denying the Armenian genocide.

    David Irving is a great historian! Read the material, don’t jump to conclusions based on media sensationalism fed by the feer of being accused as ‘anti-semitic’ by the Jewish lobbies! In fact, it was a Jewish historian that broke the ‘Holocaust Industry’ apart in his book(name escapes me for the moment). Irving asks ‘where’s the real evidence?’ regarding Nazi death camps and the details, not that they didn’t exist! There is still the ‘6 million dead Jews’ number being peddled out there when most historians, even Jewish ones now agree that it was much less. Irving does get a lot of help from the far-right, but I see that just as a reaction from him to get paid by someone, when his well researched books are banned in many places for no logical reason. In fact I doubt that the neo-Nazis that invite Irving to speak would do so if they had in fact read the material he writes, which is critical of the Nazis, but unlike many other historians, it also is critical of the Allies and their crimes in the war, and THAT’S why he’s disliked so!

    We should be over the “nazi” name-calling by now. People call Noam Chomsky “un-American” for pointing a timely finger at problems within the US. People were un-American for going against Vietnam & the current war.

    You’re only a Nazi (neo-Nazi) if you think Hitler was onto a good thing and believe all the shit he was preaching.

    Just because a documentary looks at an issue from a particular point of view might make it a biased doco, but not necessarily uninteresting.

    Look at Michael Moore, everyone raves about him, but he’s got his agenda to push and should also be taken with a grain of salt, no matter how popular he is. Nothing’s perfect.

  24. September 2nd, 2007 | 12:58

    I would guess about 50% of Mr. X posts are about Nazi fascism.

    He’s clearly obsessed with them. I wouldn’t be surprise if he shares some of their beliefs. It’s impossible to be this intrigued with a subject and not share a connection.

    Nazi’s aren’t THAT interesting. Unless you share their ideals. That disturbs me.

    Rlslog “employees” (for lack of a better term) Mr X. Therefor they support this form of entertainment.

    David Irving might not be a nazi, but he is a holocaust denier which is reason why he shuned by 99% of historians and society. Of coarse there are wackos (Iran’s president) that will believe low life like Irving saying

    “Irving’s status as a historian has been widely discredited[1] as a result of controversy arising from his Holocaust denial and misrepresentation of historical evidence. During an unsuccessful libel case Irving brought against American historian Deborah Lipstadt and Penguin Books in 1998, an English court found that he is “an active Holocaust denier; that he is anti-Semitic and racist and that he associates with right-wing extremists who promote neo-Nazism.”

    WW2 stuff is fascinating..
    Obviously there are a few kooks out there, but there are plenty of normal people who want to form their own opinions, and that involves reading evidence from both sides, and trying to filter out the propaganda.
    Regarding the historian David Irving, how can anyone researching nazi history avoid talking to those on the far right?? The anti-free speech laws about questioning the scale of the holocaust are an embarrassment to the whole of Europe.
