We Were Soldiers 2002 WS DVDRip XviD-AXIAL

From the creators of “Braveheart” a war movie starring Mel Gibson came out 5 years ago. I don’t remember so much about this film but I know that I enjoyed this as I did with some other war movies of this year. For the War-movie lovers this is a sweaty, you will like it. People who have missed this should give it a try and enjoy!

In 1965, 400 American troops faced an ambush by 2,000 enemy troops in the Ia Drang Valley (also known as the Valley of Death), in one of the most gruesome fights of the Vietnam War. WE WERE SOLDIERS is a detailed recreation of this true story: of the strategies, obstacles, and human cost faced by the troops that participated. The story focuses on the lieutenant colonel that led the attack, Hal Moore (Mel Gibson), and a civilian reporter who accompanied them, Joseph Galloway (Barry Pepper), as well as a number of other soldiers who were involved.

This is an unusual Vietnam film in that it also shows the North Vietnamese perspective on the battle; their leader Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu An (Don Duong) is depicted as a brave soldier and smart commander. And in addition to the many gory battlefield sequences–which seem to have been influenced by SAVING PRIVATE RYAN–we also see how the carnage of war affects those left behind, the soldiers’ wives and children. Ultimately this is a moving anti-war film, which, by sticking close to the true stories of real soldiers, very effectively brings home the overwhelming horror of war.

Thats a good war movie with a rough end who shows how mad a war could get when privates do the work and die and the high officers hide behind the rocks. Not Mel Gibson in this case.

it has a element of Sci-Fi to it also. On the battlefield when the americns are under heavy attack from charly, there are bullets flying all around, granades and stuf, the sky is on fire, everyone ducks for cover, but not Mel Gibson, he is walking around like he was on some kind of a catwalk, everyone dies who just make a peak at what is happening, around them, but not Mel Gibson, he just stands there, thinks what to do, like he was on holliday on a beach… its a funny scene to me, totaly unrealistic, im shure they wanted to show how brave he was, but that was just too much… bullets avoided him like he was some kind of a “shit on a stick”!
    But all-in-all great movie.

totally agree with weedbot, this movie was kinda ok, but some scenes were just funny. – like when they call for airstrike, dude is sayin the coordinates to radio, and during this “calling for airstrike”, the bombers flew right above their head and hit the target. looks like in some PC strategy, C&C :D

and in the next scene, they are tryin to call for some flares in the night, and they were upset because they had to wait 3 hours for it…

    no comment :D

w33db0t:”there are bullets flying all around, granades and stuf, the sky is on fire, everyone ducks for cover, but not Mel Gibson, he is walking around like he was on some kind of a catwalk”

I think that is done to illustrate battle fatigue, that kind of behaviour is common when a soldier has been exposed to extreme stress for long periods of time without rest. ignoring gunfire and obvious danger is one symptom.
