War Dance 2007 LIMITED SUBBED PROPER DVDSCR XviD-EPiC

War DanceGroup EPiC brings us the DVD screener of classy documentary “War Dance”. This is a film that should shed some light on recent events in Uganda. Movies about Africa, documentaries in particular, are always worth a watch as they have a tendency to put everything in perspective. It always amazes me to see how happy Africans seem to be as opposed to Europeans or Americans, despite the poverty, violence, hunger and sickness that’s plaguing their every-day lives. Their happiness is manifested in the most basic and pure ways possible, singing and dancing. This film also comes highly recommended on Rotten Tomatoes if that means anything to you. The release includes built-in subtitles. About the quality of the screener, you get a property message showing for 14 seconds every 10 minutes and there are no black and white scenes. So, definitely watchable.

Synposis: Set in Northern Uganda, a country ravaged by more than two decades of civil war, “War/Dance” tells the story of Dominic, Rose, and Nancy, three children whose families have been torn apart, their homes destroyed, and who currently reside in a displaced persons camp in Patongo. When they are invited to compete in an annual music and dance festival, their historic journey to their nation’s capital is also an opportunity to regain a part of their childhood and to taste victory for the first time in their lives.

if you are too closed minded to see past the skin color, and take the movie for what it is about then yes this movie is not for you. but if you lived in uganda or even zimbabwe were the inflation is out of this world, you not only wouldnt have the internet you are on now. you couldnt even afford bread.

yeah, they are happy because they have lived through the day before. Tribes have been raping and killing each other for generations. Throw in the abuses of Europeans, (most recently the United Nations soldiers raping and killing), and you’ve got one hell of a good reason to “be happy”.

Yup… if industrialized nations could only figure out this method of true happiness… Well, maybe we could send goon squads around each night to violent assault folks in their homes. Then, anyone who wakes up the next day without their family pet having been shot or stomped to death will have reason to really be happy. Never mind, it would never happen because our laws protect us from those kinds of goons… err, wait…

How Blessed some of us are…
This documentary should serve as a true reason for the
fortunate amoung us to never complain, and always give thanks
that we nor our children have never to live like that.

Cool. Docs like this really do put things into perspective. I remember watching a doc with a Rwandan girl who had both arms cut off. Seeing her smiling throughout the film even though her situation was grim was really revealing. Also the Lost Boys of Sudan really showed how, for the most part, people in the West are unfriendly and paranoid. In general, I think, because we are worried about people taking our “stuff”. Western society is so wealthy that basic food, shelter and clothing are no longer concerns. Now the concern is better food, better shelter and better clothing to the point where we are all in competition and as a result tend to be wary of others. Seems very instinctual to me. Thats what I love about these types of docs, they really show the societal differences.

    January 17th, 2008 | 22:02

Why is it always that Western society should be involved? Why can’t countries from the middle east and Asia do their bit to improve the lives of those in Africa? Where are the African-American outrages; send Jackson & Sharpton and the issue will be resolved in no time.

Western society should be involved because Western society is the cause of their drama. African geography has been dictated by the West, with borders drawn arbitrarily and colonies created to exploit their population and resources. The continent is in the state it’s in because of centuries of oppression and exploitation by the West. And African American’s aren’t outraged because they’re lazy and drug addled.

By western society you actually mean the British Empire, which no longer exists, and Italy, which is also no longer a monarchy. The states that ran Colonial Africa do not exist. “Western Society” is not bountiful and rich; Western Government’s are bountiful and rich. Only a bigot and a fool would lead you into believing that one man or woman’s suffering is more or less than any other persons in the world. We all suffer. Stop glorifying yourself with your hatred and move on. We are bending over backwards here, spending money, lives, resources, even our own time, and that is not enough? Still you endlessly say we are evil? If I am evil, then how evil is the christian who will only treat africans that convert to their religion? You are evil, not me.
