    codecs are internal rather than using the OS repository. in other words even if say you didn't have xvid installed, your computer couldn't play xvids, cx2d could still convert them to dvd.

    Im still using this version – 3.0.0.0.9…:) guys and girls is this release any better than the one im using – is it going to be any faster at all or what not? only going to go as fast as my pc will allow it to right?

    This program has the worst interface ever invented. It was designed by a mad man.

    People keep saying it is the best converter but I don't agree. Overly difficult to use with confusing and useless menus and the thing is damned slowed compared to other converters.

    Don't believe the hype.

    If you think this software is complicated you must think turning a pc on is hard. As for speed on a 3ghz quad it convert a whole movie from avi to dvd in 10-15 mins that aint slow. Once you set your options up first time its then just a matter of drag n drop, name disc and convert. Nothing confusing or complicated.

    Reverend white I feel sorry for your mother. Installed this software on a friends desktop. He called me daily with questions on how to unrar and download things but never had questions on how to get it on dvd.He's not tech savvy at all but as stated its dragndrop can't be that hard.

    Yup, it's the most tinkered, that's why it's the most effective. The French company sucks at some of the translation, but what the hell do you care, it works great.

    As for the program…….. I prefer Winavi.. but still use convertx alot as my 6yr old son is able to use it and put dvd's together from avi very easily with no messing about. Oh and he dosent have to look for where file is now saved all he does it click go and sticks a dvd in drive till it tells him "operation is completed". or if he forgotten to insert a disk its "please insert media". how more basic do u want it to get???????
    as for being the most tampered with/ tinkered with program lol if you using windows you wouldnt have made that comment!!

    Actually WinAvi would be easier for your son.
    I used v6,7,8 daily years ago (no updates since May 25, 2007), until I found DivXtoDVD, which became ConvertXtoDVD 2, then 3.
    I'll never use WinAvi again. It's junk in comparison.
