VSO Software ConvertXtoDVD v2.2.3.258c-TE

TE group came up with new version of this popular software. It’s really helpful if you don’t have a standalone divx-xvid player. It converts almost any video file to DVD-VIDEO format. It’s easy to use, and also fast; for one standard movie it needs less than hour to convert it (tested on my own PC – Dual Core 4400+ AMD Athlon with 2,5GB DDR2 RAM). Of course, if you have a better configuration, converting time will be reduced.

ConvertXtoDVD is a video converter software to convert and burn your videos to DVD. With ConvertXtoDVD and a few clicks you can backup your movies to DVD playable on any home DVD player.

ConvertXtoDVD supports most popular formats such as AVI to DVD; Mpeg, Mpeg, Mpeg4, MP4, VOB, WMV, DV and stream formats to DVD. It converts your files into a compliant DVD Video set of files and burns it on a DVD media. The ConvertXtoDvd does not need an external AVI codec download. It uses its own AVI codecs.

The aspect ratio can be automatically selected or forced to a specific format. The program works for NTSC and PAL video formats and creates chapters automatically. Multiple audio tracks are supported. Version 2 uses a completely rewritten interface with subtitles support and a lot of new settings.

Features:

  • Supported video formats: Convert AVI, Mpeg, Mpeg4, DivX, Xvid, MOV, WMV, WMV HD, DV, MKV, DVD to DVD and more…
  • Supported sources: existing files from digital camcorders, TV/Sat, capture cards
  • Can merge up to 4 hours of material from several movies or episodes
  • Supported audio formats: AC3, DTS, PCM, OGG, MP3, and more…
  • Handles subtitles files (.SRT .SUB/IDX .SSA) with color and font selection, and supports tags (italic, bold)
  • Video format choice: NTSC, PAL, or automatic and PULL-DOWN
  • Picture output: Widescreen, Fullscreen, or automatic
  • Create Automatic chapters or edit your own
  • Fast preview mode to check if the source is loaded correctly
  • Save the DVD structure on hard drive or burn it to a blank DVD
  • Reliable burn engine integrated (supports all DVD formats)
  • Fast and quality encoder (typically less than 1 hour for converting 1 movie)
  • Variable options and settings for advanced users
  • Control of the conversion speed vs quality
  • DVD Menu control (auto-start, loop etc)
  • DVD Menu edition (background, font, color)
  • Customizable interface (themes, dockable windows)
  • Multilingual support (available languages…)
  • Optimized for Windows 2000 / XP / Vista

    October 16th, 2007 | 23:35

I haven’t played with it for ages but iirc IT ONLY DOES 1-PASS ENCODES. ONLY USE IF YOU’RE NOT ABLE TO ENCODE VIDEO WITH OTHER SOFTWARE, as a 2-pass encode will yield FAR better results.

Great ! now I can convert all my Dolphin home movies onto dvd –

Sorry Im being stupid on Porpoise.

What Id like is a quick simple .avi recoder to sort out unplayable files with tricky codecs. One that doesnt take all day either.

Converting to dvd is a mugs game .avi hard drive players are the answer.

u se clonedvd to copy the xsiting data, just make sure convertxtodvd is set to NOT delete data

  8. krisswfc1
    October 16th, 2007 | 23:47

    yes

dont delete the converted programme from your hard drive, keep going to burn existing dvd, open the CONVERT X folder, then select the VIDEO folder, this will then burn the converted dvd again.

you can also do this to copy any other dvd, open it up and copy the folder over

I hate it how the damed things take forever to convert em to DVD-VIDEO format.
Lucky there are some really cheap 20$ (like 10$ US) DVD Players which will play AVIs anyway… Yayzz… I don’t have one :( .

  22. koopsta
    October 17th, 2007 | 01:38

to the person who said hardware decoders are the answer (read dvd players that support divx/xvid/mpeg4 in general), I say you’re wrong. Revisions of codecs etc come out rendering these “hardware players” useless. It’s much better to invest in a media centre styled PC and just use standard software decoding; you could easily get something that’ll do the job for $200-$300, provided you aren’t wanting HD support :)

Total mugs game, Get a DiVX player and your away, no need to convert waiting an hour to then find out the sound if out of sync with the movie. Total waste of time, Nice handy program tho, My recommendations are to get a Divx player, download your films bang like 5-6 films on a disk and your set!

I personally use Nero Vision (not the new one, but the original “not compatible” compatible with vista one.) works well, approx 1.5 hr with a 1.4 gb movie (2cds) running 1gb ram, centrino duo, 1.7hertz…or something….

and nero lets you make fancy menus so it looks pro when you show it….just my opinion.

  37. Inevitable
    October 17th, 2007 | 04:03

This version is not working – can’t import avi files.

  38. LCJ
    October 17th, 2007 | 04:46

For the “File “-.avi” is unsupported or not A/V file” problem:

try right-clicking the cracked .exe in the program files and select ‘pin to Start Menu’ option and run the prog from there.
You should now be able to add .avi’s.
It will also work from the Quick Launch icon.

  39. spiroagnu
    October 17th, 2007 | 04:59

@42.. thanks but pinning it to the start menu did not fix it for me I still cant get it to work…..anymore ideas out there

I have tried all other dvd software and this by far is the best for converting files to dvd format to watch on a stand alone player. As for cloning a dvd there are better softwares out there.

  41. October 17th, 2007 | 06:22

i always use this, but i have this version along time now

My favorite software for converting avi videos to DVD, fast converting with the good quality.
If you test Nero Vision 2 pass and this you wont see much difference in quality, only in speed :)

  49. b3
    October 17th, 2007 | 12:12

This program doesn’t claim to be the best for encoding quality. AviSynth+CCE is probably the best AVI>DVD a home user can have, but it takes AGES to write the script, test the script, encode using 8-pass VBR etc… If you just want to give a copy of a film you downloaded to a friend, or watch a downloaded TS on your TV, quality doesn’t really matter all that much, especially if the source isn’t great.

ConverXtoDVD is best because of its support of subtitles, which you won’t find in most other applications (not Avi2Dvd or WinAVI). On my Core2Duo 3.3ghz, conversion takes 15-30 mins, and the app only uses a single core. Nero is the slowest app out there and should only be used if you require a fancy menu. Also, ConvertXtoDVD’s single pass method produces stunning results.
