@2 I guess that’s only because vmware would have to emulate specific HW rather than using basic ‘compatible’ pc as it is for Win platform.

It is doable though - only matter of market. I guess that it is not as interesting as complete mac hw and sw package…

why not just buy a pc for 1/2 the price of a mac…..job done.

    @2

Currently there is no stable software of that kind to try Mac OS through a virtual box on your PC… However, you can check here:

    http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/

It’s PearPC. It’s old news, old Mac architechture emulation, but you can get a feel for the mac OS with it–IF you know how to run it ;)

@6: PearPC is really old and emulates PowerPC. There’s also CherryPC.

You can run OS X in VMWare on a PC, but it’s not supported by Apple or VMWare and requires a hacked kernel.

You can also run OS X natively on most decent computers. leo4all just recently had a third revision.

I’m having a bit of difficulty understanding the registration of this product. Would anyone be able to clarify or detail the instructions? As in what to type in terminal and such. Any further detail is much appreciated, thanks.

Try VirtualBox, it’s opensource and at least as powerful as vmware… and it’s faster!

Thanks for the info about running Mac OS on PC. It’s nice to see some people are helping out here and not just posting pointless flames and stuff. Since I’m don’t want to go through a lot of trouble to get it working I guess I’ll just save up for Mac Mini or something, it’s not that expensive and look cute. :)

Getting OSX running on a PC is easy as pie… Just get the Kalyway 10.5.2 install dvd… it comes with like 8-9 kernels to use including ones that work on amd systems… Just make sure you have an open partition or drive, boot from the dvd, create and format it to a Mac Partition I believe I used HFS+ Journaled… Then you just run the installer like any OS.

    http://www.osx86project.org/

Has forum and wiki that lists compatible hardware and what kernels are supported on said hardware

Cool app… Damn, if only I could run OSX on my Acer Aspire 5920 :(
I know that it’s possible but I’ve heard that fe: WIFI is not working when runing OSX on PC… :/ and its a big problem for me because im using wifi all the time :(

  20. Rob
    April 24th, 2008 | 21:42

@20: it will work almost perfectly on an Acer Aspire 5920. If you want Wi-Fi, replace the miniPCI express card with a Dell 1390 which works out of the box. They cost ~$10 on eBay and is usually accessible through the bottom of your laptop.

lol CNET: The Aspire 5920 is a candidate for the ugliest laptop of the year.
