VMware Fusion v1.1.0.62573 Incl. Keymaker-EMBRACE

Here is another MAC OSX application. VMware is well known virtualization software, and now it comes in OSX incarnation under the name Fusion. Well, i’m not sure what’s the point of this, when you can run WinXP/Vista/Linux with BootCamp, natively on Mac. But probably someone will find it useful. ;-)

Description:

Get the best of both the Mac and PC worlds with VMware Fusion. With an intuitive Mac-native interface and a wide array of powerful features, VMware Fusion provides the most seamless way to run Windows applications on your Mac.

Seamlessly run Windows, Linux and other PC operating systems on your Intel-based Mac.

    Thanks for posting this!

VMware Fusion is very useful. I don’t like to be running Windows just to get some program working. For example I can use MathCAD using VMware on OS X along with my native OS X apps.

    Cheers!

Great program, although I haven’t tried using Boot Camp yet now that it’s out of beta.

There is an alternative which is multi platform and 64bit host OS compatible.

    VirtualBox
    http://www.virtualbox.org/

    Its also free.

I don’t think Christian got what VMware does. To use Windows via Bootcamp, you have to reboot. VMware loads windows right within OS X…

    November 15th, 2007 | 19:30

boot camp / you have to reboot to get back in the other os
while all those virtual/parallel desktop/crossover allows you to have
both running at the same time

virtual box is still in beta for mac and very unstable–not recommended

@christian totally agree with you on this / they say also ,xp runs better on a mac

but ok,not the point here, vmware, installation mention it will use your boot camp
partition to install itself,,,doesnt sound kosher to me,

i know also some peoples are asking ubuntu stuff,,,but in the linux forums
ubuntu is not very aprreciated, full of false hopes,,personnaly i did removed it
    am using pcbsd instead

vmware fans: vmware recently made vmware server free. It does everything workstation does.

The new thing @ fusion is, you can drag stuff between mac & win apps.

It also integrates the win apps window direct into the mac workspace (not separately).

This is great I’ve been waiting for a scene release of v1.1, it should fix a few issues with v1.0 notably the failure of v1.0 to re-mount the bootcamp disk on application exit.
IMHO this application is way better than it’s main competition “Parallels v3.0″
Great to see more “non-windows” apps getting posted thanks!

I’d take VMware Fusion over Bootcamp any day, In fact I’d even take Parallels over Boot camp anyday.

ewker.. you hit the nail on the head.. Linux (or windows) users give virtualbox a try! Does what Fusion does but is totally FREE!! Without getting a key!

I’ve been using VMware Fusion since the first torrent came out. There really isn’t anything under Windows that needs the ‘full power’ of my PC as there are Mac versions for anything I need. The only exception to that was EVE Online and they just came out with a Mac version (sorta… it uses Cider which is like Cedega so there’s emulation going on) so I don’t need Bootcamp anymore.

The only reason I even need VMware is so I can run the Windows version of MS Office (sometimes powerpoints don’t look right in the MS Office for Mac (stupid MS a$$h0l3s) or, more importantly, there are some VMs I have that I can now run on my Mac.

And that’s the best reason for VMware on the Mac — you can run the same VMs others might use on their Window or Linux versions of VMware.

open terminal, enter chmod +x keygen_macosx and then .\something but then it wont work, it says : some stuff with permission of acces denied or not found and stuff… please tell me: dragonmoony@yahoo.com

Yeah i really have no idea how to work the keygen either. i tried the terminal a little but i dont know how to use it too much. someone said drag and drop the keygen file onto the terminal and hit return but it just gives me a permission denied like dragonmoony said.

    1.) Open Terminal
    2.) type in: “chmod +x”
    3.) Drag in the “keygen_macosx”
    4.) Hit Return
4.a.) The keygen_macosx file’s suffix changes into “exec” (you will see this in the Preview in Finder.)
5.) Again drag the (new) “keygen_macosx” into terminal.
6.) Boom! You’ll see the serial number of VMware fusion.

To answer Kal’s question when he/she keeps getting the “permission denied”.

Here’s what I found to work:

    1) Open Terminal
    2) Type in “chmod +x” HIT SPACE, then drag the keygen_macosx file in, “hit RETURN”
3)Now the file should be in exec format.
4)Drag the file in to the terminal again, without typing anything else. “HIT RETURN”
5)Voila! the serial should be there.

there will be an exe in the same directory as the file you dragged into terminal. drag that file into terminal also
