Vista SP1 available through automatic update

Windows Vista customers can now receive the first service pack for the operating system via the Microsoft Automatic Update service, Microsoft said Wednesday. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will download automatically to PCs that have the automatic update feature of the OS turned on, the company said. Previously, Vista was available to customers via Windows Update, but people had to specifically download it. Not all customers will receive SP1 immediately via Automatic Update, however. The company is distributing it in phases to “ensure a seamless download experience,” Microsoft said. A timeline for when all customers would receive Vista SP1 via Automatic Update was not immediately available.

SP1 is a rollout of software updates that fix bugs and glitches in Vista and is seen as a milestone that will inspire many customers — especially those in the business market — to adopt the OS. In fact, in a recent report, “Building the Business Case for Windows Vista,” Forrester Research said more business customers plan to upgrade to Vista now that SP1 is available. Microsoft has acknowledged problems with application compatibility and lack of driver support, among others, that customers have had with Vista. It says SP1 and other updates that the company continues to make should remedy these problems.

I’ve had SP1 for awhile now and it actually made some of my games worst! Battlefiel2142 loads (in game) a lot more! It made the game just not fun anymore. With the original vista , it bombed on me twice. It was so bad that I had to reinstall the thing twice! Stick with XP or linux. You’ll avoid the headaches that Vista causes!

For a Vista that has the paradox bios crack on it, how do I go to SP1 and still have it registered? Is there a new crack?

it was on auto-update for a while now…
as for the Paradox OEM bios hack… I’ve been using it with SP1 for a month now with no issues

SP1 makes your file transfers as fast as they should be … that’s about it.

I got norwegian version of vista. I got the option to download and install sp1 a few days ago. bluescreen + constant restart of the computer was the result. Had to “repair” windows to a previous functional state.

Do not install Vista Update KB940510.

Microsoft released KB940510 as a ‘Critical update’. Windows Update will automatically install KB940510 if you turn on “Automatic Updates” option. However, if you manually update, you can choose to ignore and hide the 3.0 MB update if you don’t want to install it. To do so, open “Windows Updates”, check for updates, and if no updates have been offered or you cannot see KB940510. Then click on “View available updates”, right click on “Update for Windows Vista (KB940510)” and then select “Hide update”.

The Windows Update KB940510 installs a detector or sniffer that scans through the Windows Vista system looking for installed or tampered activation cracks or exploits to illegally bypass product activation requirements and use Vista without a legitimate license or product key.
    ——————-

    Uninstall KB940510:
If you have done so, after installing update KB940510 and BEFORE restarting the computer, check if the KB940510 is installed or not from Install Updates list or search for all “wgaer_m*” files using Advanced Search. Make sure that you select all local drives or everywhere as searched location, and check the option to include non-indexed, hidden, and system files. You will likely see one or two files starting with wgaer_m. Delete all files found and then restart the computer. All detection will be done, and Vista will be working as normal.

    Vista SP1 All Version Activator.

NOTE: Update KB940510 must not be installed on your Vista. If it is, you will need to format and reinstall. See above Uninstall KB940510 is you haven’t rebooted.

Does SP1 do what KB940510 do?

Does SP1 perform the same function as Update KB94051?
Because I would like to install SP1 without having my computer to go to “reduced functionality” or registering again.
