Virtual CD v9.2-YAG

Something new here by YAG group. With help of VirtualCD you can create backup images of your physical CD/DVDs and emulate em in virtual drive. Something similar as Daemon Tools Pro and Alcohol 120%, but seems to me more powerful in features.

Description:

With Virtual CD you can create compressed 1:1 copies (virtual CDs/DVDs) to your hard drive. You can then store your originals safely in a cabinet! Your virtual CDs are then available with a simple click or even automatically with the autostart of the corresponding program.

With Virtual CD you receive up to 23 virtual drives that behave just like the “real” physical CD/DVD drives – except that they are up to 200x faster! The only noise you hear is music or the applictions sounds, and all you need to do is play, work and enjoy.

New in Virtual CD v9:

  • Microsoft Windows Vista certified drivers
  • Up to 23 virtual CD/DVD burners
  • Snapshot function for CD/DVD combinations
  • Comparison Wizard for images and source CDs
  • USB flash drive support for virtual drives
  • Virtual hard drive with encryption, 64 MB and up
  • Incremental additions to images
  • Insert virtual CDs in any physical drive
  • Improved support for CD-recording software
  • All Toolbox programs optionally available over desktop shortcuts
  • Improved API and scripting functions

The big question is does it have protection emulation eg Safedisk etc like Daemon Tools does?

    February 10th, 2008 | 00:04

i still prefer Daemon tools. I am not too sure why someone would need 20+ drives?

#4: For those 3rd party distributors. Easier way to leave the computer and burn 20+ at a time on 20+ burners

30 drives with mini images ;) yea baby! :P cracks FTL!

Used it when C&C3 was updated, couldnt find a crack and Daemon+Yasu wasnt updated either.
It had some very wierd problems with vista though, but that seems to have been sorted!

@8 I really widh you and the rest of the folk that keep post the latest DAEMON Tools Pro Adv v4.12 INCLUDING SERIAL <— lol, would give it a rest. Its/they are no good and wont install without the “key file”.

dont waste your time on this version of DT folks until you see a proper release.

The best part of VirtualCD is the emulated CD burner feature

“Insert virtual CDs in any physical drive”

What does that mean? How is that even possible?

  12. thenyproject
    February 10th, 2008 | 01:51

@ 11: meaning you can burn a DVD to your HDD instead of directly to a disc? That’s pretty sweet.

    February 10th, 2008 | 02:10

    @13 – thenyproject

I guess you never create a iso file before…

    @12 – Someone Noone

I have a program here that only works if I have the CD
insert in the same drive that was installed.
So, if I use a image file of the cd, I have to swich drivers
    letters in windows.

    Ex:
D: CD DRIVE REAL to E:
E: VIRTUAL CD DRIVE to D:

Pretty pain in the ass right!

So with this program i can emulate the iso file in the
REAL DRIVE, making this drive unusable for the moment of course.

tat program can create images only in _own_ nonpublic format. u’ll never be able to mount any image without tat crap being installed.

is it better than alcohol 120%??

    February 10th, 2008 | 06:53

    @16

You’re kidding me? Wow, that discourages any use of it in my book. Can’t stand proprietary formats.

why would someone use anything different than DT pro – beats me

why would someone go and post “included serial number” for it – beats me
    DTPro requires licensed key

imo, if you are using DT everyday when playing your games, it’s worth paying a small fee and having lifetime upgrades for it

    February 10th, 2008 | 11:26

@19 – Small fee my ass… 100 Euros per license, and only for 5 years of upgrades. Though I see there is a special advertised on the site for people purchasing more than one copy at the moment, but it is still ridiculously overpriced. Of course, Ill wait till they announce the “free” version here on rlslog ;-)

    @15, “eitanois”:

Thanks for the answer, I thought that’s what they meant, but couldn’t be sure. So, basically, this program probably makes a low level kernel hook that intercepts IDE calls, and, if told so, redirects them to the virtual drive daemon…

That’s all nice but I have never found it hard to modify the “install drive letter” value in registry or an .ini file of a game so that it matches the drive letter I assigned to the image drive… Saves the trouble of reassigning drive letters..

waiting on one of you genius coders to create a prog that will mount compressed cd images.

    now that i would download

  22. Dark
    February 10th, 2008 | 17:10

@22 On an ntfs drive, just enable folder compression on the folders containing the disc images, unless of course you are talking about formats like uif specifically.

  23. waiting
    February 10th, 2008 | 19:38

yea kinda like mounting a uharc compressed file

  24. oz_brute
    February 11th, 2008 | 01:39

Is it better than Alcohol 120%. I can’t any features that it has over it. Maybe i’m wrong?

  25. Phnatik
    February 11th, 2008 | 20:23

This program looks great will unistall very well, however, this is one memory hog to say the least. Many features, would appear to be better than both Alcohol 120% or Daemon but I will stick with Alcohol due system memory use. I am running with as much spped in all areas and it turns my computer into a snail! Peace !

  26. costa200
    February 11th, 2008 | 20:33

So does this emulate safedisk and/or securom or not? Because if it doesn’t Daemon tools does it fine…

  27. Phnatik
    February 11th, 2008 | 23:19

Yes, but nevertheless emulation does not make a difference when a program takes up so many resources. Stay with Daemon or Alcohol or just DL and see what I mean.

  28. costa200
    February 11th, 2008 | 23:36

How much exactly is the memory footprint of this application?
