Verizon employees spying on Obama fired

Verizon Wireless placed a handful of employees on paid administrative leave last week, on suspicion of improperly peeking at President-Elect Barack Obama’s cell phone records. “This week we learned that a number of Verizon Wireless employees have, without authorization, accessed and viewed President-Elect Barack Obama’s personal cell phone account,” Verizon Wireless CEO and president Lowell McAdam told reporters in a statement. The phone in question – a personal, voice-only flip phone – has been inactive for several months, says the future president’s transition team. Because the phone didn’t have e-mail or data capabilities, Obama’s correspondences were not in danger of being read.

Reports indicate that the suspended Verizon employees had access to a relatively limited amount of data, including a record of phone numbers, call length, and timestamps. When pressed for further details on what was accessed, however, Verizon Jeffrey Nelson declined additional comment. Concerns such as this incident are fueling questions about whether Obama, a reputedly avid user of technology, should be allowed to use a cell phone and e-mail during his term as President.

Sounds like stuff we used to do when I worked at DirecTV (Customer Service) … for instance, everyone who’s ever worked for DirecTV knows that Tiger Woods is basically supporting the PORN industry all through his PPV Porn purchases :P

Of course, the real good stuff on Obama would be on his Blackberry, over which he is giving the FBI and the Secret Service real headaches, because THOSE aren’t secure at all … yet Obama has even told the press that he feels like he couldn’t “function” without his Blackberry. So either he has to give it up, or the Secret Service & FBI are going to have to sink a few million dollars into making a private secure network for secure Blackberry usage. But what’s funny, is not only will Obama need a secure Blackberry, but everyone who he sends data/text to and who sends to him. Talk about a cost to the American people which really isn’t necessary.

The racist comments are very unneccesary…that is crazy tho, if there’s a ruling made that he is not allowed to use email or cell phones, I will lose even more faith in this government. I hope there is a way to put a stop to this intrusion, and I am just glad they found this out, so hopefully Obama is aware of the problem, and no damage will come of this…

No YOU keep things in persepective and stop trying to use smoke and mirrors. the US Supreme Court stated back in 1972 that “U.S. Supreme Court UNITED STATES v. UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT, 407 U.S. 297 (1972) 407 U.S. 297 UNITED STATES v. UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE EASTERN DISTRICT OF MICHIGAN ET AL. (PLAMONDON ET AL., REAL PARTIES IN INTEREST) CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE SIXTH CIRCUIT No. 70-153. Argued February 24, 1972 Decided June 19, 1972
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=407&invol=297 the USSC clearly stated in this case that not only was the wiretapping legal, that it was , and this is where it gets real; “a part of the powers of the office of the President granted by the US Constitution.” As such since they added that little line in there, it makes it part of the US Constitution and no judge-jury-or Congress can overturn this decision without a Constitutional Amendment. And since over 2000 have been tried at various times since 1787 to present, with less then 50 actually becoming part of the Constitution, chances are that they will never be able to do this. As such, it is not only legal, but has been used by every President, both Democrat and Republican; since Ford.
So while some may not like it, it not only is perfectly legal; but cannot be changed without a Congressional Amendment. You could have known this if you would have just checked the USSC web page and looked in it’s archives or at the very least had done a google search before spouting off like you did.

The main difference in this is that while it may be offensive, wiretapping by the US president is legal and Constitutional. Checking phone records of Obama or anyone else without it being part of your Constitutional duties as with the president, or having a court order for everyone else; is clearly reason for them to be fired.

So get this through your head and stop moaning about something that is clearly legal and Constitutional. if you dont like it, then start a movement and get a Constitutional Amendment passed and change it. Because that is the ONLy way it is going to happen and all your whining is not going to change anything.
