vBulletin v3.6.5 PHP NULL-ANTERiOR

Here’s another interesting app which appeared today: vBulletin release by ANTERiOR. I think vBulleting doesn’t really need an intro, but for all people that don’t know what vBulletin is, just read the next paragraph…

vBulletin is a powerful, scalable and fully customizable forums package for your website. It has been written using the Web’s quickest-growing scripting language; PHP, and is complemented with a highly efficient and ultra fast back-end database engine built using MySQL. vBulletin features a search function, uses a template driver interface, (custom) smilies, user profiles, moderators etcetra ..

Bugs Fixed in vBulletin 3.6.5 :

  • Safari Cookies: A problem where users of the Apple browser Safari would be logged off the system prematurely when vBulletin runs on specific servers has been resolved.
  • Internet Explorer 7 Compatability: Much has been said about Microsoft’s decision to make the Javascript prompt() function throw a security warning whenever it is called. This change resulted in vBulletin’s text editor system throwing security warnings whenever a user tried to insert an image or an email link. The use of prompt() for Internet Explorer 7 users has now been discontinued in favour of an alternative method of collecting user input.
  • Fix for Infractions Bug: A problem where infraction expiration was not cleaned-up properly has been addressed.
  • Workaround for a FreeBSD Regular Expression Error on Login: Some users running recent versions of PHP running on FreeBSD have encountered a bug in the regular expression engine that caused an error to be shown when logging in. We have worked around this problem. However, it may still appear in other areas, so we are trying to find a proper fix for the issue.

There are some more security fixes , but these are the most important. I think it’s good that they finally works on the Internet Explorer 7 bugs, because lots of people were complaining about it.

    Quick question. I understand that vBulletin is a huge php script.. but in order to use it you should pay for it? Since it’s not like a software, everybody can see if you are paying for the script or not I believe. Just by emailing vB..

    I think if you don’t have a huge site.. that’ll be ok… or use phpbb…
    vB is way better.. but yes.. if you have more than 1000 active users… you might have to pay for it.. There’s always a bad ship who emails the vBulletin people just to try to close your site

    Tara: you are right, people who intend to make a serious and big forum with vBulletin should definitely pay for it. but there are also many people who may need this release just for their private forum or to test and compare it with other bulletin boards. and yeah, phpBB sucks big time, I’d never install it on my server because of all these security holes.

    Is it illegal to use it then?
    Can i build it in my script for my site, and not paying for it and not doing something illegals?
    Can the maker of this script see where all the sites are where it is used?
    Just a few ???

    Like We said before… it’s a paid script. the author could find your site if it’s popular.. so It’s alright for small sites.. but on big ones, some users without a life might contact the author and report your site as unlicensed..
    sad thing.. but it happens..

    build it in your script? mm.. you should be very careful and patient renaming url, javascript and form varables..

    If you plan on using it for a public forum, pay for it… it’s 90% sure your webhost will recieve a msg from VB asking them to pulldown site because of illigal software use.

    It does look suspicious when every page in the admin panel has “Nulled by ANTERiOR” in the footer.
    It makes you wonder what else could have possibly been edited.

    I would have preferred a completely unedited release.
