A quite decent American action thriller Vantage Point was released in a new dvdrip by group NeDiVx tonight. Great cast including Forest Whitaker or Matthew Fox (LOST) plays in the story about attempted assassination of the American President. You probably remember fairly early R5 rip of this flick which appeared already 2 months ago. This 1 CD release contains English as well as many other subtitles.

In Columbia Pictures’ “Vantage Point,” Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox), are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (William Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide. In the crowd is Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker) an American tourist video taping the historic event to show his kids when he returns home. Also there is Rex (Sigourney Weaver) an American TV news producer who is reporting on the conference. It’s only as we follow each person’s perspective of the same 15 minutes prior to and immediately after the shooting that the terrifying truth behind the assassination attempt is revealed.

    When the R5s came out everybody kept saying the movie sucked major arse but now people think it’s good?

    The reason i didn’t enjoy it was the constant rewinding from different points of view, gave me a headache.

    If you really want to understand where this movie comes from, watch Rashomon, by Akira Kurosawa. That’s where the idea of “same situation, different point of view” comes from, and it’s a far better film. Nonetheless, I have to say that I thought Vantage Point was sufficiently interesting that I’ll recommend it to friends who are into cinema.

    Decent film (saw it at the cinema) , but if anyone doesn’t shout “Oh, come on !!!” at the horribly dumbed-down hollywood ending (where all the plot strands come together FAR too neatly – and totally un-realistically), then you’re WAY too easily pleased.

    Other than that..enjoyable enough. 3 out of 5 from me.

    what ever happened to rippers posting subs for NON-ENGLISH speaking parts only?
    The film is released in English, yet there are vital parts in Spanish.
    Examples of great rips with english subs for NON-ENGLISH parts only:
    Babel, Rush Hour 3, Eastern Promises, etc…

    geez… I’m just going to rent this damn movie. It’ll be better than wasting my viewing experience on cheap rips.
