I’m new to the whole torrent scene.. After reading the responses this file is only valid for a PS3 and not for a computer? My computer does have an HD vid card but not a blu-ray player.. Am I supposed to be looking for something called MKV for HD movies on pc? I’m so lost.. I don’t see a readme file in the folder either.

I do have a PS3 if that would be easier to use.. Do I use the PS3 internet to download this torrent file? Never tried using my PS3 for anything other than playing movies and video games, lol.

I don’t have any issues playing BD5/BD9 compliant movies on my PC, which by the way isn’t even all that powerful (ASUS P4P800-E, 2.66 GHz Northwood, 1 GB of memory, Nvidia 6800GT connected to 52″ 1080p TV via DVI to HDMI converter, Maxtor 300GB PATA HDD, onboard audio using digital coaxial out to Yamaha amp).

If it is an BD5/BD9 ISO, I simply mount it with Daemon Tools (make sure UDF 2.5 driver is installed first) and extract the files within to hard drive. Then using Media Player Classic (with CoreAVC) I run the BDMV\STREAM0001.m2ts file (or whatever it’ named). If it’s in MKV, then nothing needs to be done as it’s all ready to watch as is.

As far as I know, the only difference between the BD5/BD9 ISO or MKV designed for conversion to BD5/BD9 ISO is that the horizontal black bars at the top and bottom of the picture (which only happens when the movie is wider than 16:9) are part of the encode, while a regular MKV release does not have those black bars as part of the encode. Even if the film is wider than 16:9, the end result with either method of encoding should look exactly the same on screen, and there shouldn’t be any difference quality or resolution-wise with the actual active picture area between the two.

Please correct me if I am wrong please, as I’d like to be informed if I am.

this is for the 12million people worldwide with a ps3 or bluray player. to the tw@s complaining about mounting this or not being able to play on a pc…fck off and get the mkv you idiots. this is not intended for pc use, you wouldnt be complaing that an xbox360 game doenst work on your pc so dont complain that a ps3 compatible video doesnt work on your pc either. theres plenty of groups releasing mkvs for the pc so theres no need to throw your rattle out of the pram and spoil it for the rest of us! i think the internet is plenty big enough for two versions of the same film.

Forgot to mention – If you ARE planning on playing this on a BluRay player, you need the repack just issued.

Repack Reason: Accidentally used 5 reference frames instead of 3 which breaks compliancy. If you have already leeched the previous release for PC playback don’t bother with the repack. However for standalone playback you will need it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@ 19: well there is a demand for it, so no surprise to see some groups releasing these.

But i just don’t see why they’re still trying to be part of the MKV scene…
Just stick to the BD5 tagging, remove the “x264″ in the release name to avoid confusion, put the rlz directly in ISO format and there you go!

the MKV scene is well established, people will not download these rlz of subpar quality and always wait for the normal encode (apart for the ones who will download it by accident).

or are just too proud to “leave” the prestigious mmkv scene ans become some niche groups? lol
