@eurosong: Germany, France, Spain and Great Britain pay for much more than 90% of this event. Without them it would not be possible to get it financed at all. And they can only pay this much money if they have enough ratings share in their respective countries, which they wouldn’t have, if they didn’t participate in the final.

As to your comments about Italy, they aren’t correct either, because if Italy decided to participate, they would be the fifth country to march straight into the final, because the are the fifth largest contributor in terms of money. Not taking part has nothing to do with the fact that there are four more countries which have this privilege.

2. You are not an authenticity on the subject because you've watched an unnamed and probably biased documentary.

3. Philip II actually fought against the Phocians and Alexander the Great, against the Athenians and Thebians, NOT against the Greeks. Actually Philip fought against the Phocians with the help of all of the Thessalian troops, so it was actually an internal Greek war. Alexander, in the Battle of Chaeronea had the help of Epirotans, Thessalians, Phocians, Locrians, Aetolians against Athenians and Thebians. All of them were Greeks, so it was a Greeks against Greeks war. There were many wars between different Greek city-state and/or kingdoms, like Spartans (who were allies with Macedonians) and Athenians, Athenians and Thebans etc etc. Do not confuse modern definition of a nation with the ancient one. Modern nations are based on the ideas of the French Revolution.

I am not Macedonian, but how I remember history, Filip, father of Alexander was in war with Greeks. I am watched documentary about one of fights and can tall you it was not from love.
Yes, Alexanders mom was Greek.

Dear @23 the slavic part of the ancient region of Macedonia has the same right of claiming ancient greek history as all the other regions of the known world of the time that were conquered. Under this logic Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Iraq and even India can claim themselves as Macedonians! Historically Alexander the Great was a proven Greek, was a student of Aristotle, spoken the Ancient Greek language and shared the shame Ancient Greek culture as all of the other city-states of Ancient Greece did.
