SafeGuard Easy combines the security of full disk encryption with pre-boot authentication. Pre-boot user authentication forces the laptop owner to provide credentials before the operating system is loaded, guaranteeing a secure environment before Windows starts. SafeGuard Easy’s pre-boot authentication (PBA) supports passwords, biometric fingerprint readers, and tokens.

SafeGuard Easy incorporates independently approved standards-based algorithms and ciphers such as 128-bit and 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and 128-bit IDEA, thus blocking unauthorized access to your laptop or desktop PC’s disk while in use or at rest.

    why would you even WANT an alternative to truecrypt? it has been proven time and time again, and it works on nearly all OSes, beyond that, you won't have to wait for a fix if there is a critical update to any mistakes or bad implementation

    truecrypt > all (of the encryption programs i have heard of)

    i agree with @17: advertising something as an alternative to the top string free product? why do i care what else it integrates with as long as it integrates with every OS available?

    yeah for real. it's the other way 'round… truecrypt is an alternative to this closed-source $$$-ware. free doesn't always mean bad, people. learn this. make the world a better place.

    the fact that #18 uses sophos should make most disregard any opinions given :-#

    anyway, most boot-time full disk encryption systems are less secure than you might think, the best method is to use encryption containers as truecrypt does
